Limbaugh says Fox News 'caved' in Sherrod coverage

Rush Limbaugh attacked Fox News on Thursday.

Rush Limbaugh attacked Fox News on Thursday.

(CNN) – Rush Limbaugh said Thursday on his radio show that Fox News and at least one of its anchors "caved" in its coverage of Shirley Sherrod, the former USDA employee who was fired in haste on Monday after an edited clip of her was posted on a conservative website.

"I have to go after it … because even Fox caved on this," Limbaugh said. "Even Shep Smith. Even poor old Shep Smith went down there and said that everybody's wrong on this, that [BigGovernment.com founder Andrew] Breitbart is wrong and so forth. There's only a handful of us that have the guts to put this story straight. If we don't hammer back nobody will."

Limbaugh dismissed the story, saying he was bored by it.

"It's nothing more than the left playing the race card, the NAACP has thrown down the gauntlet because the big government argument has failed," Limbaugh said. "They are keeping alive the divisions in this country and I hate taking the bait, I hate playing along with it, I simply despise the whole thing."

"We've got a bunch of cowards in the conservative media inside the beltway which will not deal with this honestly," Limbaugh added.

Limbaugh took aim at Fox News anchor Shepard Smith because on Wednesday, Smith sharply criticized Breitbart's website as well as his network's own reporting on the story.

"The video taken completely out of context it ran all over…and on television including this network," Smith said Wednesday on his show. "We on Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons. Among them: We didn't know who shot it, we didn't know when it was shot, we didn't know the context of the statement, and because the history of the videos on the site where it was posted. In short-we did not and do not trust the source."

On Monday, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly was the first cable news anchor to play part of the edited clip, saying afterward "That [Sherrod's comment] is simply unacceptable and Ms. Sherrod must resign immediately."

One hour later, Sean Hannity played the clip at the top of his show and announced Sherrod's resignation.

On Wednesday, O'Reilly apologized for his statements saying: "I owe Ms. Sherrod an apology for not doing my homework, for not putting her remarks into the proper context."

Even Faux News and its band of evil clowns isn't dispicable enough for Rush. Maybe Rush and Ann Coulter could have a drug addicted love child who can keep the slime going for another generation of fools to soak up.

Limbaugh goes right on with his blinders on, even as every other media source and comentator (on both sides) that originally jumped on the story admits their error. It takes nerve, and, I guess, ignorance, but, hey, that's Rush.

What's wrong with Rush? Can't he let the truth come forth now and then without feeling threatened by it? Shep had it right, and so did OReilly, once he apologized. This whole incident has done nothing so much as make the media, and Fox in particular, look foolish.

Don't you love it when they start "eating their own". America should pay attention to who pushes the lies, who twists the stories for their agenda, who is the voice and leadership of the conservatives and what are their tactics. Shameful.

Years ago Al Franken wrote that Rush was a big fat idiot. He was right then and nothing has changed.
Rush is so full of himself he no longer can look at anything objectively and form a thoughtful opinion. He has cornered himself with his own blinders and never has anything new to say. He's as predictable as cioffed hairdos on political talkshows but far less entertaining. He was a lot more fun when he was using drugs regularly.
I think I'll print out a picture of his large head to sight my guns; can't miss something so inflated.

Rush is pushing a lie after it has been exposed – what a surprise. The worst elements of the Right never apologized for publicizing the doctored, edited ACORN tapes. They never apologized for falsely accusing Kevin Jennings of condoning statutory rape. They never apologized for taking Sonia Sotomayor's comments out-of-context. They never apologized for misrepresenting the VA's pamphlet of end-of-life issues. The list could go on and on (death panels, Obama is pro-infanticide, Ezekiel Emanuel's writings, etc., etc.).

They know that a certain percentage of the public will never know how much they lie, and that an even larger percentage will never care.

Limbaugh is an idot – every fair-minded person on this continent knows that. He's irrelevant and this story is a waste of some reporters time.

the media consists of 100% cowards.

all draft dodgers like Joe Biden, Jr and Newt Gingrich.
especially Bill O'Reilly. Oh No, that includes you too Rush.
and Bill Cllinton served as president despite the fact he was a military deserter.

Clinton was sworn in as a 2LT on August 7, 1969 and failed to report for duty. After 30 days of being AWOL you are officialyy classified as a military deserter. With the Vietnam War is full action, Clinton should have been indicted by the military.

this=military cowards and PC generals. Even back in 1969.

Kudos to Shepard Smith of Fox who didn't play the tape and who said that playing it without checking it out was wrong.

He is the only one at Fox who I will watch.

I can't believe anyone would still take this self-serving blowhard seriously. Breidhart's entire Sherrod piece was clearly a hackjob and he editted the clips to make it sound like she was gunning for this poor old white farmer. The farmer mind you was saved by Sherrod. I hope Sherrod sues Breidhart and Fox News for millions, I am not one for frivilous lawsuits but she deserves it.

SE Missouri is still mired in the old bigotry of the old South according to Rush. Eventually, even they will have to disown him for what he is, the Black Sheep of the family. Rest are honored legal scholars, him, he's just a blowhard who flunked out his first semester. And got on Oxycontin. Typical of down there.

The Democrats have to be rolling on the floor laughing about this one. Fox "News" isn't right-wing enough for Rush. Let the circular firing squad begin. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of wingnuts.

Limbaugh wouldn't know decent journalism if it slapped him in the face...O'Reilly, Hannity, Fox News....better than the Comedy Channel

Rush does not have the guts nor courage to stand up against hate. He hasn't figure out yet that it is actually cool to be a descent person in this life. It's actually cooler to be calm, thoughtful and nice than to be a bully. Living the dream baby...

This one gets better and better. FoxNews people know this woman is likely to start filing lawsuits, and it's already trying to distance themselves from their own coverage of this story on Monday. Unfortunately, there is something called Youtube, where MANY, MANY people have posted videos of their coverage. Rush Limbaugh, as the defacto leader of the Right-Wing nut-job Wing of the Republican Party is just doing his job: rally the troops with the Southern Strategy party line.

What's the matter, Rush?! Are you upset at the Fox Noise crowd because you and all the other rightwingnuts went along with the Fox Network smear campaign against Ms. Sherrod and it blew up in your faces?! Try a little more "whine" with that crow you're eating now!

And what's Rush's beef with this? That FOX was big enough to apologize for its poor journalism? Isn't that actually a step toward really being balanced and fair? Perhaps Rush thinks journalism should be all hot ait opinions like his own?

Left throwing the 'race card'? How so? When did all the race stuff start? Who started it? Wasn't it Tea Party Williams who got oustered because of race stuff prior to the Sherrod story? Who did the editing that started all this? Wasn't it a contributor to Fox News (Breitbart)? The conclusion is, is Mr. Limbaugh is caught once again trying to spin this to a conservative advantage. What's the objective? Seems like he's trying to detract from something else. Like causing a problem and then blaming the other side, that is spinning it to make the other side to look at fault. That why I'M going 'hammer' back; I have to, for it is MY Patriotic duty.
