Limbaugh says Fox News 'caved' in Sherrod coverage

Rush Limbaugh attacked Fox News on Thursday.

Rush Limbaugh attacked Fox News on Thursday.

(CNN) – Rush Limbaugh said Thursday on his radio show that Fox News and at least one of its anchors "caved" in its coverage of Shirley Sherrod, the former USDA employee who was fired in haste on Monday after an edited clip of her was posted on a conservative website.

"I have to go after it … because even Fox caved on this," Limbaugh said. "Even Shep Smith. Even poor old Shep Smith went down there and said that everybody's wrong on this, that [BigGovernment.com founder Andrew] Breitbart is wrong and so forth. There's only a handful of us that have the guts to put this story straight. If we don't hammer back nobody will."

Limbaugh dismissed the story, saying he was bored by it.

"It's nothing more than the left playing the race card, the NAACP has thrown down the gauntlet because the big government argument has failed," Limbaugh said. "They are keeping alive the divisions in this country and I hate taking the bait, I hate playing along with it, I simply despise the whole thing."

"We've got a bunch of cowards in the conservative media inside the beltway which will not deal with this honestly," Limbaugh added.

Limbaugh took aim at Fox News anchor Shepard Smith because on Wednesday, Smith sharply criticized Breitbart's website as well as his network's own reporting on the story.

"The video taken completely out of context it ran all over…and on television including this network," Smith said Wednesday on his show. "We on Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons. Among them: We didn't know who shot it, we didn't know when it was shot, we didn't know the context of the statement, and because the history of the videos on the site where it was posted. In short-we did not and do not trust the source."

On Monday, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly was the first cable news anchor to play part of the edited clip, saying afterward "That [Sherrod's comment] is simply unacceptable and Ms. Sherrod must resign immediately."

One hour later, Sean Hannity played the clip at the top of his show and announced Sherrod's resignation.

On Wednesday, O'Reilly apologized for his statements saying: "I owe Ms. Sherrod an apology for not doing my homework, for not putting her remarks into the proper context."

And expect pretty much every republican to issue apologies in the n ext 24 hours... to Rush Limbaugh. That's the ONLY apology republicans EVER issue. They are NOT sorry for bringing us this recession. They are NOT sorry for misleading us into an unjustified war. They are NOT sorry for taking away privacy and civil rights. They are NOT sorry for bullying us into xenophobic nationalism. They are ONLY sorry for having offended Limbaugh for not being an extremist right-wing bully he demands them to be!

NEWSFLASH to Limbaugh! It was YOUR conservative guy who misled the media, and the public into drawing racist conclusions on a highly doctored footage! You should be criticizing Breitbart and Foxnews first, NOT Sherrod!

Limbaugh is in a panic because there is no defense for what the conservative media did to Shirley Sherrod and he knows it. He has been one of not-so-Breitbart's most ardent supporters, and as not-so-Breitbart goes down in flames, Limbaugh starts looking more like the Hindenburg himself.

This story keeps getting better (except, of course, for Ms. Sherrod.) First, Breitbart gets exposed for what he is, then Shep Smith calls out his own network. O'Reilly has to apologize. And now, Limbaugh shows that there is no limit to his pin-headedness, championing an argument that even the most conservative thinker knows is wrong.

As once again Rush Limbaugh shows that taking oxycodone fries one's brain. What is wrong with him? Didn't his parents teach that lying is wrong?

Not surprising comments from a puke like Rush.

The full video of Sherrod's speech showed that she wasn't bragging about being a racist, she was telling what amounted to a parable about prejudice and reconciliation.

For one thing, the incident happened in 1986, when she was working for a nonprofit, long before she joined the federal government.

For another, she helped that white man and his family save their farm, and they became friends. Through him, she said, she learned to look past race toward our common humanity.

.... but that doesn't matter to the hate mongers like Rush – who mocked Michael J, Fox for the sin of having Parkinsons ...

Rush and Faux News and the whole conservative movement should take a step back and look at the harm and destruction they are causing so many people and then swim in their own shame disguist they are reeking on country.
History repeats itself many times over and if we don't wake up soon we will find ourselves in the middle of a civil war.

Have to admit, I'm surprised in a good way that people on Fox news did their homework and then appologized. Makes me re-think some pretty negative opinions I've formed about them. (see, I'm doing my homework too) Good for you, Fox News.

Of course he's mad. It's the same reason apple haters get mad when apple does well and vise versa. People hate things that they hate, it's pure and simple. For example, I hate when Taylor Swift sells albums. If I had the chance to blast in an out of context clip, but then had it taken away from me and to have her come out in an even better light would drive me nuts.

Fox News FAILED to research the story, big shock,
and played the Lie of a story anyway, again, big shock.

Fox News is as much News as Reality TV, is indeed, Reality.

And I'm sure Rush being a racist has had no effect on his position.

Now I'm waiting for Fox to appologise to Rush.

On the point that spurred her resignation it was a contextual error.
Now that we have the whole video, it's amazing that no one is challenging her stance with the administrations interpretation of 'Social Justice' and 'Spread the Wealth'.

Maybe Rush likes to have his comments taken completely out of context! Of course he liked the video–he takes other comments and events completely out of context himself.

This great, Rush attacking Fox and Shep Smith, man, things are getting fun. I see cracks in the old GOP. A house divided soon will fall.

Rush's ego is totally out of hand, God I'm enjoying this.

I still can't figure out why anyone cares what a drug addict and un convicted felon says.
If Limbaugh is the best thought leader the right can conjure up they are in a sad state.

Rush Limbaugh is the worse thing that ever happened to this country. He is a hate mongering biggoted loud mouth, who will say anything as long as he is paid. The sad part is there are people out there who really believe he speaking for them. So okay, if he speaks for you, then you are exactly what he is. He is the most dipicable person I have ever heard. He is a liar. His is a hater. Please-turn him off. Everyone is entitled to free speech and his/her opionon. Find someone who speaks with intelligence that shares your views, not this overbloated wind bag. He is evil.

Mr. Libmbaugh, why is it so hard to face the truth for you? Ever wonder how much of your life energy has been wasted in blatantly spewing out lies, bigotry, and hatred? But then again, according to the first amendment you have a right to do that.

So Rush Limbaugh is criticizing Fox News because they decided for once that the truth mattered? Why am I not surprised.
