Breitbart to headline RNC fundraiser

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/07/26/art.breitbart1.gi.jpg caption="Andrew Breitbart is scheduled to appear at an August event in Beverly Hills."](CNN) - Conservative activist and blogger Andrew Breitbart will headline a fundraiser this August hosted by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele in Beverly Hills.

A Republican National Committee spokesperson confirmed to CNN a report in Talking Points Memo, which also published a copy of the event invitation.

Called "Election Countdown," the event will run from August 12-14 with Steele and Breitbart top-billed for the Friday evening welcome reception at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Breitbart has been under fire for posting an edited video clip that seemed to show then-Department of Agriculture employee Shirley Sherrod talking about how she discriminated against a white farmer looking for assistance. The controversy led to a rush to judgment and Sherrod's forced resignation, only for her to be vindicated once her full speech came to light. By the end of last week, she was receiving official apologies and a phone call from President Obama.

  1. breitbart the liar

And CNN continues to give this liar a free pass on his highly edited videos. Doesn`t anyone at CNN have the guts to call him out? Why are you so afraid of this punk? Especially Howard Kurtz, who just laps up the right wing talking points....

I think Breitbart – a known liar, slanderer, and extremist idealogue – is the perfect headliner for the RNC. He fits in perfectly with their lack of ethics and their pursuit of a far right agenda at the expense of everything else.

That is a shame that he would even be offered such a position. This man needs to be sued for everything he's worth for starting the events that led to the poor woman's resignation. And the fact that Michael Steele, an African-American would agree to be in the same room let alone the same political event is even more preposterous.

It's very disturbing to see a major, political party like the Republican party align itself with the Tea party, whose members are well–known racists and separatists. There have been comments made openly by racist elements about their participation in Tea party events. These elements espouse disdain for minorities and Jews, and yet the GOP does not find it repulsive enough, to disassociate itself from these elements. While I cannot accuse this Andrew of being a racist, I can say he is not an honest, decent man. And the fact that the GOP is embracing him and these racist elements that make up the Tea party, is a troubling sign. America is moving backward. I hope our voters are well-informed to see the mere ugliness and danger of such a merger. Is this an act of desperation, to win back the houses or is the GOP essentially gunning too return America to the time we were vastly divided?

Great! The RNC confirms that their leading dirty trickster performs his divisive, racist stunts to serve their core political objectives, and that the true believers will show their support with their donations.

Good luck persuading minority voters that the GOP is the party representing their interests.

Obviously the domestic terrorism group known as the GOP didn't get the memo on Breitbart. Uncle Tom Michael Steele is digging this travesty of a party deeper and deeper...disgusting.

With this endorsement, we now know the GOP's official stance on such hot topics as:

    lying to the public
fabricating controversy for the sake of publicity
    playing the 'reverse-race-card'
stitching together out-of-context statements to create the wrong idea

Apparently, they're all for it. Thanks for clearing that up.

Breitnart should be facing jail-time for an obvious and egregious defamation of character that had clear damage to a person innocent of what he made her out to be.

How unsurprising and disappointing the GOP should still embrace him.

I find this pretty unbelievable. For the RNC to headline this horrible excuse for a human is simply amazing. I am speechless at the stupidity of this.

I wish I could say I was shocked but nothing that the RNC does anymore surprises me. It's rather pathetic though. Is the RNC that desperate?

And the Republicans expect voters to elected the lying Republican candidates. This is a slap in the face for this nation to have the Republicans honor a lier. When will they face the real truth and facts and get rid of the trash in the party.

  13. Good choice

Good choice somebody not afraid to stand up and tell the truth -- Obama is the worst President in the history of the US - he has set this country back 10 years and it will take the GOP to get us back on course.

The majority of Dems – liberals who do nothing – pay nothing towards this country – and simply look for handouts and a welfare system so the wealthy take care of them need to wake up. The free ride is nearing an end. Time for you to do your share and contribute somethibng to the tax structure of this nation.

As for Obama Americans can see a reverse racist easy enough, he has been OUTED by his bigotry and unevenhandedness when it comes to race.

How low can Steele go? He must know his days are numbered as chairman of the RNC and has decided to go all out by exposing what the RNC members really think.

So the man who framed an innocent woman becomes an conservative hero. I suppose it makes sense because he got both the White House and the NAACP to fall for it. I don't think our country can go much lower but I am sure we will find a way.

Well, that's about par for the course with republicans. This bum almost got away with destroying the life of an innocent and honest lady and what do the clowns do with him? Make him a star, of course. I just hope they pay him really, really well so that Mrs. Sherrod can sue the snot of him and never have to work again! Nice going republicans. You should proud of yourselves....
