Breitbart to headline RNC fundraiser

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/07/26/art.breitbart1.gi.jpg caption="Andrew Breitbart is scheduled to appear at an August event in Beverly Hills."](CNN) - Conservative activist and blogger Andrew Breitbart will headline a fundraiser this August hosted by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele in Beverly Hills.

A Republican National Committee spokesperson confirmed to CNN a report in Talking Points Memo, which also published a copy of the event invitation.

Called "Election Countdown," the event will run from August 12-14 with Steele and Breitbart top-billed for the Friday evening welcome reception at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Breitbart has been under fire for posting an edited video clip that seemed to show then-Department of Agriculture employee Shirley Sherrod talking about how she discriminated against a white farmer looking for assistance. The controversy led to a rush to judgment and Sherrod's forced resignation, only for her to be vindicated once her full speech came to light. By the end of last week, she was receiving official apologies and a phone call from President Obama.

My party is following a man who smears others and a man who is completely out of touch. Where is RR when we need him – these guys may well help in primary, but they are shredding our credibility in the mainstream

I guess since he is with Mr Steele, this means that the man is not a bigot.

This guy has been exposed as a liar. And Steele takes this as a sign to buddy up to him.

What a beautifully neutral way to present someone who presented a doctored video to attack the president and destroy an innocent in the process.

CNN, they will claim liberal bias no matter what. Just report the news; stop covering for a guy that is a disgrace to your profession.

Since the NRC is void of any decency, they would have Charles Manson headline a fundraiser if they thought he could bring in a buck or two to add to their coffers ... but of course, even he's less of a criminal than GWB or DICK cheney who are actually menbers of their corrupt party.

More confirmation–The Republicans have NO shame. If they can get money or cut taxes for rich folks then they go for it. They could care less about the average Joe.

What has the Republican Party come to when they let the likes of Breitbart, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Savage, and the Tea Party be their leaders!!! I should be happy since I usually vote Democrat, but there are some really good people who claim to be Republicans who no longer recognize the party. We need some old-time Republicans like Ike who cared for this country and sought middle ground. This new bunch of Republicans are a blight on the political scene.

Why is this not a surprise, this is like the GOP finally saying we are a racist bunch of wack jobs and proud of it. Then they wonder why they have a small majority of minorities that support them, the good thing is these old white fogies are slowing dying off, maybe one day this country will be a better place.

Only Michael Steele would share top billing at a fundraiser with a man proven to be a liar with no scruples. I'll let others decide if his attempt at satire was racist or not but everyone involved with this rush to judgement has apologized except Breitbart. Seems to me it says something about the character of the RNC and their boy Michael. As a black man I am disgusted at Michael's lack of shame and personal dignity. Yeah that's the party I want to vote for.

Another self inflated, self important, Republican mouth, with nothing to offer, but a big mouth and repeated racial and bigoted lies, aimed at the American people and the president they elected, stand behind and support wholeheartedly

If this bigot doesn't like it here in this democratic society, where we use honesty and integrity when chosen who we listen to, then he can simply leave

It infuriates me to no end that my former party has devolved into such a divisive, hate-filled group. Breitbart & Steele headlining a fundraiser for the GOP. Doesn't anyone ever wonder why Nancy Reagan remains so quiet? What would Maureen Reagan say if she were alive today about the horrific way the current GOP invokes the memory of Ronald Reagan. Today's Republican Party is no more the Party of Reagan than it is the Party of Lincoln. It is controlled by media whores who care less about the nation and more about filling their wallets. Mr. Breitbart proved just how sinister his agenda is with the maligning of Shirley Sherrod. Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity are so self-absorbed in their own little worlds that the nation's woes are of less concern than their success in capturing coveted ratings points.

If you are as wrong on the issues as the GOP/T-party/whatever, all you can do is promote a fiction writer like Breitbart to head a campaign of complete fabrications and outright lies. It's worked for them in the past and in November we will see if voters fall for it again.

Well folks..if there are any questions regarding RNC stance on race relations...this should answer your question very loud and very clear. For those who say well there's Micheal Steele...the RNC can't get rid of him fast enough.

OK, so the GOP are aligning themselves with a person who does not fact check and refuses to apologize when the facts finally come out?

I question the leaders of the Republican party and how they want the voters to view them.
