Gingrich: Expect Sarah Palin for President in 2012

Washington (CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, himself weighing a presidential run in 2012, said Thursday that he expects Sarah Palin to be among the Republican contenders seeking the GOP nomination.

Asked to size up the prospective field during an interview with conservative magazine Newsmax, Gingrich rattled off a list of Republicans he expects to run.

"Well there are going to be lots of Republican running: Gov. Romney clearly, Gov. Palin, Gov. Huckabee, Gov. Mitch Daniels, Gov. Haley Barbour, Gov. Tim Pawlenty. I think John Thune, the senator from South Dakota is going to get in. Ron Paul is probably going to run again. So I think it will be a lively campaign, there will be a lot of good candidates," Gingrich said.

None of the politicians mentioned by Gingrich have announced a run for President, and Gingrich himself said he will announce his decision next year.

"Calista [his wife] and I, along with our family, will make that decision in February or March," Gingrich said. "For the moment, I'm totally focused on trying to help Republicans win the biggest possible election this fall."

Asked if Palin would be a strong candidate for President, Gingrich said she has the potential to be just that.

"I think she is already a very strong personality and has the potential to be a very strong candidate," Gingrich said.

Here come the liberal hacks to rant and rave hysterically.

After all their hate mail, one this is certain...Palin would have been a much better president that Obama.

Oh boy, just the news I wanted to hear "Palin to run in 2012"! OMG!
I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her....IF ELECTED, 'IF',
she would most likely quit after 6 mos. b/c she never sees anything
through. I just don't know what the attraction is here...she hasn't
a brain in her head,, Oh, I get it, she's attractive, hmmn great grounds
for running for President! If she ran & won, I would definitely change
countries! OMG, just the thought of it!

Palin will narrowly lose to Romney in the primary. Then, he'll pick her as his VP. Too bad good looks don't equate with good leadership. If they win, get ready for a rule by cynical plutocracy that relies on irrelevant wedge issues to hold the whole ugly (fear and xenophobia based) thing together. Yikes.

Gingich is a far superior candidate, and he actually understands conservatism unlike many of the current crop of usless neo-cons like Palin

Newt's not a bad prognosticator, but I'll bet that he's wrong on this one.

If the half-Governor has proven that she knows how to do anything, its to cash in. I'm betting that she wont be willing to take the pay cut involved in running for (much less serving as) President.

Gingrich may be insane, but he's not stupid. It's obvious that queen Sarah has no intention of giving up her lucrative career as a professional idiot. I suspect Gingrich said what he said just to pander to and placate the far-right knuckle-draggers that frequent Newsmax.

Face it, anyone is better than nobummer. Now he wants to circumvent Congress and grant legal status to approximately 12 million illegals. He is getting desperate because he knows he cannot win in 2012 and he will lose congress in 2010 and more demorats will leave in 2012. As nobummer keeps defying the American people, maybe it is time to start impeachment proceedings or have a recall election.

Good for America. President Obama wins in another landslide.

Non of the people listed will be able to beat President Obama if he runs for re-election, the only one with the type of polarizing personality (which is really what wins elections) is Palin and her lack of integrity will be the cause of defeat. I can only go back as far as Reagan, but each winner since his reelection had the better (polarizing)personality.

Uh, no, there won't be any "good" candidates, Newtie. Like yourself, they'll all be partisan hacks representing the rich, Big Business, and the lunatic fringe.

you can guarantee that palin and the others are going to channel the reagan doctrine where the trickle down theory is in full effect..... this is the 21 st century. that kind of politics are old hat. it only looked out for a choice few. so stop trying to pull that right wing reagan era mess out your but,t and get a new message for the masses. you right wingers have cornered the wealth again as usual when you are in power ie bush , cheney and big oil ala houston tx. so let reagan rest. fox- mama grizzly and karl rove. you can't find or do anything new?
