Washington (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has endorsed yet another candidate-this time it's Brian Murphy, Maryland Republican candidate for governor.

In a statement posted on Palin's Facebook page, "I'm honored to endorse Brian Murphy for Governor of Maryland. Brian is a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment commonsense conservative and a firm believer in the free market and the cause for energy independence."

"As a former energy industry executive and current small business owner, Brian has the private sector experience that is so lacking in government today. He knows how to incentivize industry to get our economy moving again. Together with his running mate for lieutenant governor, Mike Ryman, Brian will provide Maryland with principled and results oriented leadership," said Palin.

Murphy's campaign responded to Palin's endorsement in a press release, "I am humbled and honored to receive Governor Palin's endorsement. Governor Palin has served her city, her state, her country, and her party with distinction. Governor Palin has always been led by principle, conviction and character."

"I look forward to working with her as we unify the Republican Party in Maryland, and around the country, on its core principles. Governor Palin's endorsement is an honor and a privilege," said Murphy in a press release.

Murphy faces incumbent Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley who is running for re-election as well as another former Maryland governor, Republican Robert Ehrlich.

Ehrlich is considered the overwhelming favorite to win GOP gubernatorial nominee. Ehlrich would face off in the general election against O'Malley. O'Malley defeated Ehrlich in his 2006 bid for re-election for a second term.

Murphy is the founder of the Plimhimmon Group an investment group. He is a University of Maryland and University of Pennsylvania Wharton School graduate.

CNN's Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

  2. NYT:"during this election cycle big oil has paid 12.8 million in contributions, 71% to Republicans"!

    Good luck, Murphy.

After last night's primaries in which every candidate that this grizzly grifter and the tea baggers supported, lost, your gonna need more than this sow's endorsement.

So silly Sarah vetted Murphy? If McCain had vetted more than her legs, America could have avoided this Alaska secessionist.

So, what's wrong with him? If she like him there must be something wrong with him.

Endorsements from pinhead are proving to be the Kiss of Death.

I would love to see her as the Nominee from the GOBP in 2012. Then we would witness an election with the incumbent carrying all 50 states.

She used the word incentivize in her facebook post! Wow, did she consult a thesarus for that one?
And the guy is pro second amendment–for someone who says she is rooted in the constitution, shouldn't those she support be pro 27 amendments and not just the 2nd one? But, maybe she doesn't know there are more that 2 amendments

Bet she didn't notice that the small business sector reported job growth for the 7th month in a row today. Yes, jobs are down in some sectors, including government, but isn't that what they're screaming about, "less government"? These people are nuts and who cares who this jaw-flapper supports?

She throws around her endorsements and CNN runs with it, like she actually has some kind of clout. Her endorsement is no better than mine or yours. The only true endorsement is by vote on election day. She should just SHUT UP.

Okay??? Now this is REALLY personal.
Hey super bimbo, thanks for endorsing a complete unknown teabagger. That should split (if it got to that) the rethug vote against ehrlich. I am sure he is really happy about your useless endorsement of another republican in MD running for governor (as if you really know what the position entails).
And better yet, STAY AWAY THE HECK AWAY FROM MY STATE!!!!!!!
We don't need a retarded half term ex-governor telling us how to vote. Go back to AK and stay the hell away from MD. Any one of our smaller cities has a larger population than AK.
We don't want, need or care about what you have to say.
murphy sounds like a complete idiot if he really thinks that highly of a quitter.

I think this endorsement this will help Betty the birther and Keith make up their mind as to which republican oil man to support. As for common sense conservative principles, they do not exist in the GObP bagger/ John Birch party.

Curious. Palin had zero "private sector experience" when she ran for Vice President. So that experience was not needed in 2008 but is needed now?

Interesting how she pixies around, sprinkling fairy dust on people for magical political success...and makes a ton of money doing it...and she doesn't even know these people. Congrats to Sarah Palin for having one the greatest, most lucrative jobs in the world...I sincerely mean that. I don't hate or fear her. Everybody who said "we love Sarah" didn't know her either (but a lot of Alaskans did) until she was pulled up by a pony tail into the McCain campaign. We wanted her to lead us around by our noses and by her wit, to a more prosperous and brainwashed existence. She is mighty and we are ridiculous clowns for enduring this sideshow.

As a resident of Maryland for over 30 years, I kindly ask Sarah Palin to stay out of our state. Thank you very much. We have our own issues here and we don't need her rabble rousing ill formed message being broadcast.

As a "former energy industry executive", Murphy should be disqualified from running for any public office.

    Sarah Palin is an idiot.
