Michelle Obama visits military families at Walter Reed

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/08/13/art.michelleobama.0719y.gi.jpg caption="First Lady Michelle Obama made an unannounced visit to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday."]Washington (CNN) – First lady Michelle Obama made an unannounced visit to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday as part of her "regular private meetings and interaction with military families," according to an official in her office.

In addition to her public events on military bases and other venues that are a part of her official schedule, the First Lady also has private meetings with military families both in Washington and as she travels around the country, according to the official. "It's a good way for her to get informal input and advice from military family members from across the country on how the administration and our country can better support military families," the official said.

At an event with military families in May, the first lady announced that President Obama had directed his national security staff to lead a 90-day review to develop a coordinated federal government-wide approach to support and engage military families.

Today's visit to Walter Reed will allow the first lady to "share the feedback and concerns expressed by military families with officials inside the White House and across the administration," the official said.

Like is stated in the final paragraph of the story, Michelle is just going around campaigning.

"Nice to meet you. Now President Obama says...".

Wish she was doing it out of the kindness of her heart.

Believe me, there will be lots of photos with military members sporting crossed fingers (translation, "I'm being forced to pose for this photo").

I'm a liberal, but she doesn't appear genuine. Just a publicity move in light of her negative ratings.

Send a popular first lady out for a photo op when there's an unpopular president with plummetting approval ratings.

    Oldest trick in the book.

    What does it mean visiting?!
If it means contribute something the soldier needs, ok it is good. But, if it is for photo pop and free trip, She used to complain about race, so, she better be in Haiti and other kinki people places.

When I go to visit someone, I always take good things with me that could make them surprised/happy.

this looks a little too much like a "make-over" from her opulent vacation!! if she had done this without ANY publicity it would have been real – this is just a stunt and it won't fool anybody – sorry!!!!!

Call me a cynic but it's ironic that they throw this visit together overnight and release a statement after former President and First Lady GW.Bush were seen greeting soilders returning from the Middle East at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport earlier this week.

Mrs. Obama provides aid and comfort to our service men.

By attacking the Commander in Chief, repubicans provide aid and comfort to the enemy. Their definition from 6 years ago; not mine.
