Women's group says Palin doesn't speak for them

Washington (CNN) - The Democratic women's political group EMILY's List launched a new campaign Tuesday, taking on conservative candidates endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

"We didn't want Sarah Palin's voice to go unchallenged," EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock said at a Washington news conference. She said the campaign, 'Sarah Doesn't Speak for Me' is a way to "call upon women and men to let their voices be heard and to reject Palin's reactionary candidates and backward-looking agenda."

Palin has endorsed candidates in gubernatorial, Senate and Congressional races around the country, calling the women candidates she backed "mama grizzlies." EMILY's List has made its own series of endorsements in races nationwide.

Schriock said the campaign was created because the candidates Palin has endorsed are "extreme" and "bad for America."

Schriock focused criticism on candidates like Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, who will face Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer in November.

Schriock said Fiorina laid off tens of thousands of people as a "failed" corporate CEO. "The choice in California could not be clearer. The choice between a job killer and an EMILY's List hero, Barbara Boxer," said Schriock.

In May, Palin addressed the conservative women's group Susan B. Anthony's List. Countering the EMILY's List event, the group drove its bus with the message "Abortion is Not Health Care" around the block where the news conference was held.

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said, "EMILY's List's campaign is what "repels women from being a part of the traditional women's movement."

"Palin is used as a punching bag", she said, "Other women who run for political office know this can happen to them too," said Dannenfelser.

"No one is attracted to that approach to politics. That's why there is a hunger for authenticity in politics. Palin has an inclusive approach to politics," Dannenfelser said.

Anyone listening to Palin must wonder what century is she living in but then again that would be insulting to women of past centuries who did not quit!

Thank goodness other women are speaking out against this woman, who's every action and word sets women back decades, from writing on her hand, to her catchy little slogans, she's an embarrassment. She quits her job in the middle of her term, her children are disrespectful, and she's catty and mean spirited. Her condescending Mama Grizzly campaign is silly, and she stands for nothing, and opposes everything.

Let me get this straight. A democratic women's group has gone on the record stating that Sarah Palin, a republican woman, does not speak for them. Well, thanks for stating the obvious, ladies.

She doesn't speak for me either, while I don't plan on ever having an abortion, I like the idea of women having that choice, people like Palin want to take women back 40 years, sorry dingbat we will not be joining you. Imagine this senario, your daughter is raped by an illegal, according to Sarah Palin she should still have to baby and then they will deport it for being an anchor baby, doesn't make sense to me.

  10. Amazed!!

Sarah Palin is a pinhead who hasn't uttered a coherent word since John McCain foisted her on this country. As a role model Sarah Palin sucks! She has a special needs child; however, she is apparently too busy making $$ hand over fist on the idiot speakers circuit to stay home and take care of him, not to mention her daughter pregnant at 18 who is now raising her grandchild and can't decide whether to marry the father of the child or not. I think she should shut her mouth go home and take care of her disfunctional family .

Sara Palin definately doesn't speak for me!

Why do some still refer to this empty-head as "governor". Remember, she quit. How she got there in the first place remains a mystery.

"Palin has an inclusive approach to politics," Dannenfelser said" As demonstrated with her attack on the teacher with the worst governor sign. What's with the "Lists"?

I think you liberal women are missing a big point. Sure the Democrats have more intelligent women after all they have more intelligent men so that should equal out. But think about this; equal rights for women have come so far now that even the most rabid right wing idiots could be women too. That's progress. Think about it.

Thank God there are women in this country with brains. Palin has never spoken for me and I believe for the majority of women in this country. She is an insult to women everywhere and she could do us all a favor and go back to Wasilla and stay there and quit making money off of her scare tactics and utter stupidity.

I daresay, no woman I know in High IQ societies cares for her demagoguery.

She is very good at increasing the cognitive dissonance in low-information women and men. That's about it. Her politics are divisive and filled with falsehoods.

    She speaks NOT for me.

Sarah Palin's appeal is that she can relate to people from all walks of life. The left, pro-abortion and free spending Democrats have no answer for Sarah and that burns them up.
