Obama's stump speech blends partisan rhetoric with populist themes

Washington (CNN) - With the approach of congressional elections and the midpoint of what he hopes will be his first of two four-year terms, President Barack Obama is honing a humor-laced stump speech that is part pep talk, part populist ideology.

Obama delivered similar versions of the speech at six fundraising events this week, kicking into full campaign mode with calls to continue the progress made so far by his administration.

His poll numbers are shrinking, and Democrats are resigned to losing some congressional seats in November.

His poll numbers may be shrinking- as is expected at this juncture of his Presidency- but his numbers will rise again and the American people will get their memories back. The past Administration is still VERY fresh in most of our memories. The President deserves a chance to undo all those wrongs- and to expect it to happen in 18 months is worse than ridiculous.

Pretty funny. Really funny since not much of it is true. What he should have included was a juvenile in the backseat who just keeps saying, "ITS NOT MY FAULT". Obama has that line down but not much else when it comes to getting the country back to work.

Everyone now knows that OBOZO 's talk is worthless.

He's a great speaker, but he can not walk the talk.

He can read a teleprompter very well, but it's so full of lies and BS that it makes most people puke.

  9. Stump Speeches - NO Jobs - YES

Obama has been in campaign mode since he took office. His first year he blamed Bush for everything even though bama was supposedly in charge. Now into his second year he is blaming the Republican minority for everything...... He is a weak leader; unable to build consenseus; and unable to turn this economy around and deliver on those 5 million jobs he promised in his campaigh stump speech. We do not need more stump speeches and fund raisers over the next 3 months - we need a leader –and we need jobs.

Wow....... I am the first to post a comment! Well, good for President Obama! Fact is that Americans are not fooled by the typical-old GOP strategy of hate, lies, fear & division! We are all so sick and tired of the Party of No!

We, the People, know and will remember that when we were in the middle of the Bush Economic Disaster the GOP obstructed, complained, demonized and lied to make sure the president that 54% of Americans had voted for........ failed. Even the GOP leader, Rush, wanted "Obama to fail."

Now that our Nation is slowly clawing its way back to prosperity, the GOP wants us to vote for them?! Are they kidding???????

GOP: you ran us into a ditch, you created a disaster. You have alienated ......... Latinos, Gays, Muslims, liberal Christians, Women and young people.......... and you want us to vote for you? NO!

  11. GOP Scorched Earth Politics

Obama needs to get back to his roots with what got him a miracle victory over the Clinton machine. Back to the basics with connecting with the average middle-class American...also get back to anti-lobbyist messaging. People are tired of the cronyism in Washington. Unfortunately there a lot of Democrats too that serve their Big $ corporate masters...not the people.

You keep referring to the unproven line of " the Democrats are going to lose seats in November". Well, the GOP are not going to retain all their seats either. There is a tremendous amount of displeasure and it is NOT all directed at the Dems. Once November's results are FACTUAL, then we can start to figure out what's going to happen next!
The idea that only the Democrats are going to lose ground in November is a fairy tale!!
The GObP have been playing games for two years!! The vote is always the ONLY thing that matters. Polls, conjecture, theorizing, blah, blah, blah.
November can't come soon enough. I hope the unsuccessful Party of NO candidates have their resumes ready. It will be a tough job market to find new work in!!! Maybe you should think about that before you vote NO on anything else!

How do we get our President focused on improving the Unemployment, Economy, and Deficit? He just keeps campaigning. He never stopped campaigning and embraced the job he won the election to do. If he could just manage to focus his energy on these things I think he could accomplish them. Taking up the Mosque issue may be a noble cause in his opinion but it doesn't help people that are struggling in this country. I don't care if he is a Muslim or not. People who think he's a Muslim or born somewhere else will always think that. You can't help those people so don't get in the middle of that either. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, focus there first. Stop the blame game, it isn't working. Democrats and independents are turned off by this because it doesn't make the President seem confident or for that matter mature. He needs to stop fighting with Republicans just ignore them. Entering into arguments with them will not bring any good. He will not convince them of anything they don't like him to begin with. They are most likely some of the same people who think the President is Muslim or not a US citizen. He doesn't need to label anybody else a Racist. Put that card back in the deck it has been used too many times and it is now devalued. Every time someone uses the racist card now they will lose. People are tired of hearing that, they are looking for results. Work on Jobs, Jobs, Jobs Mr. President. He has to start TODAY or we are going to lose the House and possibly the Senate.

"New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed to a nine-month high last week, yet another setback to the frail economic recovery"

So much for President Failure's "Summer of Recovery". And, by the way, this dismal economic performance may be "unexpected" by democrats but it was completely expected and predicted by conservatives. Anybody who still thinks Obama is doing a good job is an absolute moron.

It's not the red's not the blue's the United States. That sounded so good in 2008. Now all Obama does is blame Bush and spout partisan politics. I'm so sick of this man! I can't stand to watch him or hear him. It's a pitty some poor fools are still buying his B.S.

  21. Gaylon Barrow FOR THE TRUTH!

Quite obviously people are getting tired of Obama's lies. You notice the crowd has shrunk to a few and not the raging mobs of his walk on water theme. People now see the MUSLIM for what he is. An illegal foreign born imposter backed by Saudi Arabia the only country leader he has bowed to and kissed his hand. But yet shunned our loyalest allie The Queen of England by simply sticking out a limp hand that she did not want to touch.
