Boehner has 'created a myth' about tax cuts, Biden says

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption ="Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday hit back at House Minority Leader John Boehner’s remarks on the economy."](CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday hit back hard–and sarcastically–at House Minority Leader John Boehner's call for President Obama to fire Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and other high-ranking economic officials.

"His chief proposal when you look at it apparently was that the president should fire his economic team," Biden said. "Very constructive advice and we thank the leader for that."

Biden echoed the Democratic message that aims to remind Americans that Republicans held power in the run-up to the recent economic downturn.

"Mr. Boehner is nostalgic for those good old days, but the American people are not," Biden said in reference to the Ohio Republican's call for a full extension of the Bush tax cuts.

Biden said Boehner has "created a myth" that extending tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans would stimulate the economy.

"We've seen this movie before Mr. Boehner," Biden said. "And we know how it ends. The American people deserve something different and something better."

Tell it like it is Joe.

"We hate deficits, we hate taxes, we hate spending. We only love military spending (50% of the discretionary budget) and war spending (25%). And Obama must cut the rest of the 25% which goes to education, schools, farms, roads, transportation, labor, parks, health, research, HUD, NASA, NSF, FDA, FAA, FTC, FCC, SEC, post office – we hate all that too."

The Democratics have controlled congress since 2006. The economic meltdown started in 2008. Can someone please explain to me how the "Republicans" were in power during the lead up to the economic meltdown? Also, it was Maxine Waters and Barney Frank who were in bed with Fannie and Freddie. They are on tape bragging about giving mortgages to people who couldnt afford it back in '05. I know no one likes to watch CSPAN but you cannot count on the Liberal media to tell you stuff like this.

just once i would love to hear a republican talk about how they joined with the democrats over the last 12 years. since "W" became KING the republicans have always claimed that they and only they know whats good for the people. well i am praying that we as a country vote for even more democrats maybe then the republicans will get the point. the only real answer is to elect independents. i am for restoring the tax break to corporations but not for sending jobs overseas instead give those tax breaks for moving jobs to the good ole USA.

You tell him Biden, we are all still waiting for all those jobs the Bush tax cuts will create, it will not work this time. The only thing those tax cuts will do is make the rich richer the rest of us will still be trying to survive. Tell Boner to take his tax cuts and shove them.

The Vice President has a good heart, but precious little above that.. Almost any moron can see that what THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE is not working, any better than it did the last time the Liberals tried the same re-distribution of wealth scheme...

I am so sick and tired the Republicans and their..."Give the tax breaks to the will stimulate the economy"....

    This is nonsense!!

The wealthy took their tax break money and kept it. They then outsourced American Jobs to india. How did those tax breaks benefit the people of this country?

Its clear to me that if the all the Republicans have is failed policies for us then they need not even bother for the mid-term elections.

However, Americans and think change comes quickly even though we all know the wheels of government move slowly.

The Republicans ruined this country....DO NOT GIVE IT BACK TO THEM....!!!!!

Republicans, you want to know why Democrats keep bringing up Bush? Because after 8 years of Republican rule most people were worse off (unless you are super rich) and you don't offer any new ideas!

Biden didn't hit hard enough. He should have called Boehner a radioactive, orange-skinned idiot as well. Gotta stoop to the level of republicans if you want to play their game.

Rebublicans are banking on ignorance and their die-hard base when they blather on about how tax cuts to the rich stimulate the ecomomy. This idea has been proven wrong for decades and yet they still spew this drivel. We know who the Republicans serve; the rich, NOT you and me!

And besides, any investments put back into small businesses (i.e. to hiring more workers and buying more equipment) are not taxed! DUH!

Maybe Americans are nostalgic for those good old days (i.e. before the Dems took over congress) because things didn't suck like they do today. The "movie" Biden refers to, is that the movie with 6% percent unemployment and a deficit half of what it is today? I'd like to see that movie again.

Is it just me or is it time for these idiots to quit blaming someone else and get on with what they were hired to do. They spend more time blaming others then they do trying to find out how to create jobs. I am sick to death of their lies and decete and their spending our money like they are. We will never dig out of what they (demonizers) have done to us our poor children will suffer more than even we have. There children will not face what ours are and will face. It is time to grow up! Even the community organizer has not said a word about the Iran situation, too busy spending our money on yet another vacation. That is a total during his term of 601 days vacation it is now time to stop the lying the big dogging the whining and blaming and work for your country!
