Palin's full speaking contract revealed

A "deluxe" hotel suite, a first class ticket or a private jet ("Lear 60 or larger"), pre-selected audience questions, and "bendable" straws – not to mention the $75,000 in cash.
That's according to Palin's speaking contract with Cal State Stanislaus – ordered to be released by a California judge this week after the state school refused to make the document public last June.
California Attorney General Jerry Brown began an investigation in April into whether school officials were trying to avoid public disclosure laws by discarding documents. A state senator asked for the probe after he said the school refused to turn over some requested records concerning the event.
The university argued it was not compelled to release the contract because Palin was speaking at a fundraiser for the university's private, non-profit foundation.
But Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Roger Beauchesne disagreed, saying the foundation ultimately was a branch of a public entity and therefore documents relating to its business must be made public pursuant to public record laws.
"The reasonable inference from the evidence produced is that the university, in its official capacity, has 'used' the contract…in the conduct of the public's business; therefore, said contract is also a public record," Beauchesne wrote in his opinion delivered earlier this week.
Much of the contents of the contract had already been revealed: the school had previously disclosed how much it paid the former Alaska governor and portions of the contract were discovered in a dumpster by students last April.
Still, the document provides a revealing picture of the types of demands an A-list speaker can make, and serves as a reminder that no detail is too small to omit - from the lighting ("should be at a comfortable, but appropriate production level"), to the water ("unopened bottled still"), to the lectern ("no plexiglass or thin lectern please").
The June 25 speech came after months of controversy amid charges the financially-strapped school was paying too much to secure Palin.
But the Alaska governor's speech ultimately brought in record amounts of money for the foundation, and a school spokeswoman called the gala "the most successful fundraiser in the university's history."

The entire education system iin California is in shambles, and this broad takes $75,000 to talk about how bad the economy is. I guess freedom ain't free.

Why in the world is this an issue for her to have these demands, but it's not an issue for all the other public speakers in this country who have the same (if not more) types of demands. Most of the better known speakers, in fact, have even higher price tags on their contracts than Sarah Palin has. You people are pathetic hypocrites. Face it...she scares the liberals to death because there's no one in your entire movement who comes even close to having the influence she has...and since she's a female and is this popular, she scares you even more because there's no ONE female in your ranks who comes close to the influence Sarah has. If Sarah Palin requires a fee of $75,000 per event, in addition to other expenses for the private jet charter, venue fees, planning, security, etc., etc., that surely comes out to well over $100,000 – $200,000 per event.
If there are 1000 attendees per event on average, each paying an average of $100, there’s $100,000. –So, something smells very fishy about the numbers.
We need to ask, who is REALLY sponsoring Palin’s events?

And more unfortunate is the fact that so many Americans are buying. The rich elite in the country are undoubtedly happy to have these sick individuals raise the smoke screen they need to hide the fact that they with their greed are sucking up every penny they can while eyes are focused on the palins of the world. So much BS around palin and immigration reform while the US economy continues to suffer and top level executives continue to rob the country blind of millions of dollars. Housing, health care, retirement and even social security are plagued with problems yet these areas get little media coverage compared to the sideshows put on by palin, the Arizona governor, sherrif arpasswhole, the texas wranglers, john mcCan't and the like!!!

Umm... Clinton was President for 8 years, and completed terms as Arkansas Governor before that. He graduated from Yale and was an Oxford Scholar. Since his Presidency he has been involved in numerous and serious philanthropic causes. While you may not agree with his beliefs, policies or personal decisions, he has way more depth and insight on both public policy and political issues than Palin ever will.

WHEN has Obama had pre-selected questions??? Obama is the one who holds internet chat forums live where he does not know what the questions will be. There have never been any reports of him having pre-scripted questions.
You must be thinking of GW Bush. It's really amazing how so many of the prominent republicans have to go in knowing what questions will be asked. Bush even complained about this openly at a news conference once. But the Democrats, very few if any demand this. Obama is the most prominent that does not because he is capable of thinking on his feet.

Sarah Palin has a right to demand whatever she feels she can get for her speaking engagements. The problem is the Not-for-Profit college spending revenue that should be used for improvements to college and curirculum and to provide services for its students, especially those who need financial assistance, rather than spend it on an political ideologue.
Ridicolous! A Governor who quit and let her state down for self gain, why should she get all this glory? And now her daughter is going on Dancing with the Stars? It must be the think Alaskan air...
