Beck scoffs at 'lie' allegations

Beck is laughing at critics who are making a big deal over his 'lie.' at last weekend's rally.

Beck is laughing at critics who are making a big deal over his 'lie.' at last weekend's rally.

(CNN) -Glenn Beck is scoffing at recent attacks from MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and others after the Fox News host inaccurately told the crowd at his recent Washington, DC rally that he "held" George Washington's handwritten inaugural address.

"I thought it would be a little easier in the speech," Beck told his radio listeners Thursday as he dismissed the most recent liberal attack directed at him.

The uproar from the left came in response to a comment Beck made during his Restoring Honor rally on the National Mall last weekend in which he said, "I went to the National Archives and held the First Inaugural Address written in his own hand by George Washington."

Turns out the Archives' policy doesn't allow members of the public to touch rare documents like the First Inaugural Address. Instead, Beck was permitted to view the document through plastic – prompting Olbermann to declare "his story that he actually got to hold it…is wrong."

"His fib stands in stark contrast to the point of the rally, which was all about restoring the principles of courage and honor that the nation was founded upon," the publication Mother Jones chimed in.

But Beck himself didn't seem frazzled by the allegations.

"They are like, 'He's such a liar. Glenn Beck is such a lair!' said Beck laughing off the criticism.

"I thought I'd be a little easier than to say, 'Yesterday, I went to the National Archives, and they opened up the vault, and they put on their gloves, and then they put it on a tray, and they wheeled it over, and it's all in this hard plastic, and the because you're sitting down at a table and you can't – because of [Former National Security Advisor] Sandy Berger - you can't actually touch any of the documents because they are very rare'…..I thought it was a little clumsy to explain it that way."

"Might have been a little too much useless information!" Beck exclaimed. "Once again, they caught me."

Did anyone complain about tax liar Al Sharpton's counter rally statements? No, because nobody went to hear it.........

Glenn Beck a liar? Say it isn't so! The only bigger liars than him are Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Sarah (Death Panels) Palin.

Glenn Beck is a former alcoholic zookeeper who is teaching america the 12 steps program... wonderful. I love how he shrugs off a lie like its no big deal...yet he wants to restore honor to America. Honor? Like the world derived from Honesty.. ahh i see.

The truth would have been to say "I saw" instead of "I held". See how simple – one word.

    What a liar.

Really, for some of you to say that the president lies. I have yet to hear the president say that the conservatives are socialists, nazis, non-patriots. Let's remember that when such venom is spewed from radio and T.V. news, such a Fox News, it does nothing but hurt us all. You don't think that our enemies are not loving this. Hearing people STRETCH the truth, telling lies, spreading rumors as our values. It is truly more scary to me, to see somebody use their constitutional right to spread things. That is more like what happened 80 years ago in Germany.

This is all Olbermann's got??? He's reduced to picking on Beck's literary license??? Get a life, Olbermann. It's not Beck's fault you're irrelevant...or, OK...I guess it may be his fault a little bit.

  10. Seriously?

You say that Obama lies several times a day and that the media just ignores it! Come on, that is so lame. Please provide me with a few examples. How about we start with today since it's a daily occurrence.

Just another of his misrepresentations! It sounded better and more dramatic to say he held it, so he just skipped the truth....AGAIN. Always out for the Glenn Beck show!!!!!

Everybody knows that the only man allowed to actually touch the rare art or artifacts in museums is the Dos Equis Man.

This is a news story? Shouldn't it be news if or when Beck tells the truth? I mean if you had to report on each of his lies...there'd be no time for any other news.

The point is that Beck is exaggerates and distorts nearly everything. The problem is that demonstrating most of the complete fabrications of his require that the audience have even a basic grasp of history and enough sense to draw conclusion from a presentation of facts. Obvious catches like this one are nice because any one of you delusional tools should be able to grasp the simple proof. Where there are thousands, Beck sees millions. Where there is a guarded, protected document that no-one is privileged to touch, Beck has held it. If any of his lemmings were willing to take their blinders off for a moment and consider the concrete, indisputable facts that contradict so many of Beck's utterances, they'd realize this is just a small sample of the bubble reality he creates for himself.

In response to Molly, I wish human procreation was so simple and instinctive, then maybe you would never be able to learn how to create more of your pathetic lineage. Hey, You! Out of the gene pool, NOW!

ROFLMAO!! Defending Glenn Beck is like defending the SNL guy who always said, "And my wife, Morgan Fairchild – whom I've seen naked . . ." Oh, yeah, and the Million Geeezer March was more like under 100K! What guilible fools you all are. . . . see ya in November

These responses are really quite ridiculous. The media pins groups of people against each other. This notion of 'liberal' vs. 'conservative' does have a traceable base to the ideology of people in this country.

However, the pejorative media discourse is the problem. Most of you are too set on championing your politcal stances to realize what is happening. The media isn't on anyone's side! Fox and CNN are both part of the 'media machine' if you will. One is looked at as being liberal, the other is looked as being 'conservative.' Each of the respective groups believes the other is wrong. They are both part of the MEDIA MACHINE!

That being said, politicians lie. This is nothing new.

Glenn Beck is a pawn of the anti-Christ and he is leading many astray with a FORM of Christianity. All true Christians know that the devil used Scriptures to try to fool and tempt Jesus – Glenn Beck is doing the same. One day all of these gullible Christians will find out that he is a Nazi devil in disguise...and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth when they realize that they followed after the mouth-piece of Satan...

and you have the story of Glenn Beck, a charlatan
"Elmer Gantry." This guy is a clever pusbag.

I would trust Glenn Beck's reports far more than Olbermann's. So would most Americans when you compare ratings, look at political polling, etc.

WOW! What a story! This explains why the CNN ratings are so low. I can't wait to see "IF" you bash Obama when our insurance rates go up after he said they would not go up. Oh, wait, mine did go up and the services I receive have been reduced. Why doesn't CNN report news instead of trying to put down a man who did an honorable thing- Inspire people to return to GOD and thank our military for their service.

He lied. Plain and simple. No plot by the liberal media. Not Obama's fault. Not OK because "they" always lie. He lied. Why can't you acknowledge this? Next time Obama lies, point it out and I will acknowledge it.
