Brewer walks back beheadings claim

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday walked back her claim that there have been beheadings in the Arizona desert."](CNN) - After standing by her claim for more than two months that there have been beheadings in the Arizona desert as a result of rampant illegal immigration, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday walked back her controversial statement.

"That was an error, if I said that," Brewer told The Associated Press. "I misspoke, but you know, let me be clear, I am concerned about the border region because it continues to be reported in Mexico that there's a lot of violence going on and we don't want that going into Arizona."

Brewer first mentioned beheadings in June, when her state‚Äôs controversial new immigration law piqued the national interest. Four in ten Americans opposed the law that month, according to a CNN poll. Brewer cited violence–such as beheadings–near the border as grounds for signing such strict legislation.

Medical examiners from six of Arizona's counties, several of which boarder Mexico, later told the Arizona Guardian that they had never witnessed victims who had been beheaded.

Doesn't matter what she said. Lie or not, it had the effect it was supposed to have. She needed to scare an older, whiter populace to save her job and she succeeded. If she lied about the beheadings, she's certainly capable of lying about her connections to Corrections Corporation of America.

The sad thing is that most Arizonans don't care about her lies and privatizing the states prison system. After all, they aren't targeting whites ... yet.

Another conservative "stretching the truth"! Glenn Beck and now the Governor in the last week. Why can't these people be honest and feel they have to exaggerate everything to get attention. It is bad enough when an entertainer, making believe they are a news commentator stretches the truth, but now we have a Governor doing the same thing. Find it hard to believe that it was misspoken words that she now has trouble remember making the statement?

Time for a new Governor in Arizona and also time for people to recognize that the media talk show hosts are not journalists, but entertainers and to not take serious any of their comments.

    Dave, CA:

Obama's administration destroyed the economy? He's from a racial quota school? What??

His is a true American Success Story-he worked his way up from nothing but good family and work values, up through Harvard Law (and Editor of the Harvard Law Review, an honor most of us would never reach), to work in the public sector, making something of himself and of those around him along the way.

Just who do you think sank the economy, really? Wasn't that huge, $800 billion bail-out of Wall Street types done just before he took office, and in fact hadn't those problems been brewing for several years under his predecessor? Weren't the Iraq and Afghanistan wars "funded" off the books, that is, their payment passed along to future generations, to the tune of $1 trilion and counting? How did Obama destroy Bush's economy? I think Cheney and Co did that for us, and in all seriousness, I think you and your cohorts know that all too well.

I think a beheading is pretty memorable. It's not something you very easily mistake, so she probably just lied. She's not interested in having a rational discussion about how to solve the illegal immigration problem. She's interested in churning up the racial fear and hatred some people harbor to win an election.

Then, again she didn't seem to have a strong grasp on her faculties at that debate, so maybe her mind is that addled.

"I misspoke".......At least she admits it which is more than anyone can say about the 'Failure in Chief' who does it day in and day out.

She will win by a landslide because the citizens of Arizona do not care that she's an incompetent fool. She sings the right wing hate songs, and that's all they care about.

She got caught flat footed in a lie. She's now trying to weasel out of it . Do you folks now she never graduated from high school? Listen to her grammar. What a pathetic person she is. Illegal immigration is this election cycle's buzz topic. Gays, God, Guns, and now aliens. Republicans in AZ need illegals too much as cheap labor to do anything meaningful to stop illegal immigration. It's all a sham to swindle the uninformed and under educated in AZ. An informed and educated electorate will always vote Democratic.

I truly believe that she was peaking truth, has anyone been reading what happens in and around those border points in the name of freedom? These people are so desperate to reach"freedom" that they will sell a daughter, a son, leave a whole family behind and maybe even behead a person. You have people that are wiling to bring others past the borders, steal their money and kill them on top of that, so believe there is some level of truth, she is just trying to take it back. Listen point blank they don't want the Mexicans there, and Arizonians are radical, they are territorial just like any other person, that feels taken over. A couple of heads rolling, is no surprise to me!!!!!!!

The Democrats who revel in the prospect of the Third-Worlding of the US, and the controlled opposition of the GOP, don't leave any alternative for those who want to pull this country off of the downbred multicultural road to hell it's roaring down at breakneck speed.

It's past time for a US nationalist party.

She could care less about being sorry. She only cares that the statement in the story didn't pass as fact but was checked. Now she's sorry

Brewer is a liar, a racist and a sensationalist who is determined to demonize all Mexicans. Her "immigration" law, her bill to ban ethnic courses in the schools, her desire to repeal parts of the 14th Amendment, her outrageous claims that all illegals are drug dealers all are pretty clear indicators of her views. The truth is far different, though – illegal immigration is the lowest it's been in 20 years, this Administration has provided more border agents than any previous one, and crime – including border crossing crime and drug crimes – has been decreasing in Arizona over the last 5 years.

"That was an error, if I said that" It is clear that Ms Brewer is ONLY running for Gov. For cying out load – It's not important (except to some poor immigrant – maybe someone missed – Imean, she probably didn't mean to say the bodies are missing heads – come on, get real – it was an "error" – not poor judgement – get over it – or throw the first stone, or rock, or boulder, or ...make a mountin out of a mole hill – good grief.

She will still win. we in the southwest see beheaded bodies on news stories about our neighboring mexican cities. it may have been a lie, but the violence is not going away and i for 1 wud rather have officials lie and govern on the side of safety. they all lie anyway. but it is cute reading self righteous comments frm supporters of B and H Clinton (lewinsly, sniper fire), Rangel, Obama (gitmo, campaign finance, not hearing J. Wright for 20 yrs, etc. . . ), Blumenthal (vietnam), Kerr, Edwards, and all the rest. but at least they didnt murder sum1 like ted kennedy i guess.

Isn't it funny how Democrat Losers point their boney, pasty fingers re: lies? Remember this quote? "I didn't have sex with that woman."

Now, Slick William is considered a rock star among Liberals. So lame! On November 4th, there is going to be a lot of whining heard around the Nation. I hope you hypocrites can deal with it!

Brewer walks back be heading. Sounds a lot like Obama walks back support for ground zero mosque. At least Jan Brewer admits when she was wrong. But not the POTUS. No his arrogance wouldn't allow it. After all we're just the little people in his eyes.
