Obama may help lower Boehner's unknown factor

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption =" According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll, 55 percent of the public doesn’t know enough about House Minority Leader John Boehner to form an opinion."]Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama may put a dent into new numbers that indicate more than half of all Americans aren't familiar with the top Republican in the House.

According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday morning, 55 percent of the public doesn't know enough about House Minority Leader John Boehner to form an opinion.

But that high number may go down, thanks to Obama. A few hours after the release of the survey, the president mentioned Boehner's name eight times in a speech on the economy that he delivered in Ohio and was widely covered by the news media.

Boehner, who's been a very vocal critic of Obama, is expected to become speaker of the House if the GOP wins back control of the chamber in November's midterm elections. The Ohio Republican recently gave a high profile speech in his home state slamming White House economic policies.

Obama responded Wednesday, using one of his eight references to Boehner to say that "a few weeks ago, the Republican leader of the House came here to Cleveland and offered his party's answer to our economic challenges. Now, it would be one thing if he admitted his party's mistakes during the eight years they were in power, and was offering a credible new approach to solving our country's problems. but that's not what happened. there were no new policies from Mr. Boehner. There were no new ideas."

Boehner immediately lashed back at Obama, declaring in a written statement that if the president "is serious about finally focusing on jobs, a good start would be taking the advice of his recently departed budget director and freezing all tax rates, coupled with cutting federal spending to where it was before all the bailouts, government takeovers, and 'stimulus' spending sprees."

It is important that all Americans get to see the person who golfs 119 times a year, and appears to be over served during his 10 am happy hour. People need to see how his Bush economic ideas will take us back to the near depression and $10.6 trillion debt that he and his republican congressmen gave to President Obama.

Obama has no good ideas . . . only critism of individuals . . . what a poor excuse for a leader.

When you can't defend your own policies you go on the attack and start negative campaigning which is what Obama has decided to do.Shameful that this man that claimed to be a different kind of politician is using the same methods that we 've seen everyone else use.

Boehner will become well known after he becomes Speaker in January. After that sniveling, whiny, lying rant by the incompetent, petulant, inept, union toady of a president yesterday, if I were Boehner, I would tell that piece of crap in the oval office to just send me any messages he has for me in writing. The current incumbent is such an undignified thug. I hope all of you libs remember the insults he threw out from the oval office at his opponents and don't start whining about the dignity of the office when his successor takes over. Hopefully that person will have more decorum, intelligence and dignity, but if the person doesn't, remember Obozo lowered the presidency to trash talking.

Wont take long to find out what an idiot he is. He has been there way to long. All he cares about is himself and his rich friends. Ask the people in Ohio what he has done for the middle class workers in Ohio.. NOTHING. Takes his paycheck, uses his tanning bed to keep himself orange and plays golf , oh. and I forgot keeps his rich friends, RICH. What a waste of space.......

Americans that avail themselves of the FACTS will have no problem casting their vote in November. Boehner's unknown factor is a surprise to me because he hasn't stopped his lip-flapping for the past two years. In fact he has given us all a birds' eye view of what he is all about: power at all costs.

I am VERY happy that President Obama can call it like he sees it; and that he gives back as good as he gets from these worthless members of Congress. He extended the olive branch over, and over, and over only to have his hand smacked away by the likes of Orange glo. He gave bipartisanship a heck of a try. Now he's got the grounds and proof to say what he says about the whole lot of them!

The public needs to know who these political parasites are that work against our country succeeding in the recovery efforts.
Especially the clowns who would be in power if the lies and deceptions were to succeed.
Bonner and McConnell are poster boys of who these creepy little people are.

I find it positively absolutely amazing that John Boehner is as 'unknown' as that 55% says he is. He is at the head of the pack when it comes to obstructionism and the 'just say no'...or I mean to say 'hell no' politics thats invaded the Republican Party. At this point in time, we need positive and progressive legislation to get out of this economic slump that we and the world are suffering. Additionally, we need positive imput, especially from the Republicans. All I'm hearing is the negative rhetoric designed specifically to bring down the Presidency...and for no good reason! Hopefully, now that attention is finally placed upon him. I hope the rational voters within our great country will see Boehner for what he has defined himself to be. A loud-mouthed, good for nothing crybaby lier who has brought nothing but ill upon us all and all at a time of our greatest need.

Americans need to aware of the disaster Boehner would create. His so-called "plan" would amount to another Hooverville Depression, while giving the same old "tax cuts for the rich" off the backs of the middle class.

Boehner is shamelessly trying to play Americans for fools. Does he think we have short memories? Hypocritical Boehner voted for those bailouts...ahem, roll tape of Boehner for Bush bailouts. And how about Boehner passing out tobacco lobby checks on the House floor?!

No wonder the majority of people even from Ohio do not want Boehner to be Speaker. No thanks!

I can see him from my front door and the huge strom cloud too. He represents everything the corporations want – NOT the people. He opposed Wall Street Reform b/c they pay for his golf trips, he opposes Healthcare Reform while people from his state need such a measure, and he opposes tax cuts for the wealthy b/c he gets their money through lobbyists and campain contributions.

Time to end it. Vote NO to the GOP

Signed a registered Republican who is tired of the BS.

What is not to know of John Boehner-He is a lobbyist for big oil that had the entire Republican House membership forsake theitr vacations over the threatened sanctions on off-shore drilling but old John has been very quiet for some reason since the BP Oil spill and the fire on the other rig. I wonder why? We have our choice of incompetents that are nothing but spokespeople for special interests. Pelosi is more concerned about Bay Area Frogs than the "Illegals" and Drug problems of the Nation plus she is heavily invested in Wind technologies and "greener" things and Boehner that is so far in Big Oil's pockets that he has to have a seat belt on his Congressional chair to keep from slidding out of it!

"Boehner, who's been a very vocal critic of Obama, is expected to become speaker of the House if the GOP wins back control of the chamber in November's midterm elections."

This statement, in and of itself, should be enough to convince even the angriest, most dissatisfied American voter that returning the GOP to power is the path to ruin for this country.

Boehner is better for working America than Obama, and he's right. I doubt we will ever see things get better in our lifetimes.

Boehner's plan for the GOP is to freeze spending at 2008 level. His plan ignores the fact that tax revenues are no longer at the 2008 level because of the recession. In Bush's 2009 budget (the 2009 fiscal year started on October 1, 2008, before the 2008 election) it was estimated that the 2009 tax revenues would be 2.7 trillion, but the actual receipts were 2.1 trillion, a difference of 600 billion. Even before Obama took office, the CBO predicted that the 2009 budget deficit would reach 1.2 trillion. That was before Congress passed the stimulus bill. Because spending on the stimulus bill is spread over 2009-2011, and only 188 billion was spent in 2009, the final deficit came out to be 1.4 trillion. So even if the spending is frozen at 2008 level, we will still have a trillion dollar deficit.

The more we know about our enemies the easier it will be to defeat them.
The current group of republicans, Boehner, McConnell, Palin, DeMint, Bachmann (oh yes, certainly Bachmann) have been behaving like political terrorists and they are supported by Fox News.

These hateful, theocratic thugs cannot be returned to the majority.

The GOP 4H club stands for Hate, Hypocrisy, Homophobia and Hubris.
