Palin backs O'Donnell over Castle

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption ="Sarah Palin endorsed Christine O'Donnell on Thursday."]Washington (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined the Tea Party Express Thursday in endorsing Republican Senate hopeful Christine O'Donnell, who is locked in a battle for Delaware's GOP nomination with centrist Rep. Mike Castle.

Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, made the endorsement in an interview on conservative commentator Sean Hannity's radio show.

O'Donnell quickly touted Palin's backing.

"Just got Gov. Palin's endorsement! Thank you for your prayers!" O'Donnell wrote in a message on Twitter.

The state's GOP establishment has thrown its weight firmly behind Castle, a former Delaware governor who has been serving in Congress since 1993.

The Castle campaign responded to Palin’s backing of O’Donnell by pointing to their own endorsements from “respected conservative Delawareans.”

"Tuesday's primary will be decided by grassroots Republican voters here in Delaware, not out-of-state interest groups who are working to control the outcome. Mike Castle has overwhelming support from respected conservative Delawareans, including former Gov. Pete DuPont and Judge Bill Lee, who know that Castle is the true fiscal conservative and the only candidate who can win this seat for Republicans in November," said Castle spokesperson Kate Dickens.

The Tea Party Express on Tuesday announced its support for O'Donnell, outlining plans for an aggressive campaign effort in the days leading up to the September 14 Republican primary.

UPDATE: Late Thursday night, the Republican Party of Delaware, which has voiced support for Castle, said in a release that it has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging that O’Donnell has knowingly accepted illegal donations from the Tea Party Express.

No surprise here. Last night on Hannity, Malkin said she was the most conservative candidate, and then she trashed Castle for working for the good of all people of Delaware. O'Donnell has some crazy nazi ideas.

Sister Sarah says...."mama grizzlies don't need no danged centrists"......

Of course, some had to explain what a centrist was to her......

It's fun when republicans fight over who is more righteous.

With Palin running to the far right for candidates are we to assume that she buys into the Tea Party positions of abolishing Social Security, the Department of Education and the Department of Agriculture? That stuff will sell in the primaries, but see how fast these folks come back to the middle in the general election.

"are we to assume that she buys into the Tea Party positions of abolishing Social Security, the Department of Education and the Department of Agriculture?"

Meh...she barely understands what those thigns are or how they work. No, this is and has been all about revenge for having been "scorned" in November 2008.

Come on CNN – NOBODY cares who Palin endorses or what stupid idiotic statement she makes every single day.

MOST Americans hate Palin and are sick to death of her arrogant, extremist, violence speech and grab for money at every turn.

Alaskans don't even like her – they consider a quitter, a sellout, and an embarrassment to the state.

Why is the TICKER always started with a Palin story every day??? How about some REAL stories about REAL issues? How about some credit for President Obama for all he has accomplished for the American People in record time. How about actually holding Republicans accountable for the hate, fear and hysteria they promote? This whole NY Islamic center was a non-story and approved 6 months before Republicans made it a hysteria story, caused the burning of a mosque in TN, vandalism at other mosques, and the non-Christian uneducated intolerant nutjob in FL to plan to burn Qurans regardless of what danger it posed to our troops, missionaries, embassy employees and our own national security.
Who do you think fanned those flames of hatred? The Party of Hate, Fear and Lies. Call these Republicans out by name. Hold them accountable and "KEEP THEM HONEST" as you claim.

As some one who lives in delaware and is a true republican – this just made me throw up in my mouth. Anyone who endorses O'Donnell has no idea who she is. Palin – you just lost all credibility.

"Palin – you just lost all credibility."

Really? Where have you been for the past 2.5 years? Under a rock? This woman lost all credibility within 2 weeks (at most) of McCain asking her to run as his VP candidate.

Who is O'Donnell? Congressman Castle has been a good governor and a good congressman, while not of my party, I would still vote for him.
