Palin, Beck team up on 9/11 event

(CNN) – After a wildly successful rally on the National Mall, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are teaming up again - but this time for a cost.

The two conservative rock-stars are set to appear together in Alaska on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in an event that costs a minimum of $65 to attend.

"We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will 'never forget,'" said Palin on her Facebook page earlier this week. "Hope to see you there!"

But in sharp contrast to the free event in Washington last month, tickets to this latest Palin-Beck affair run as high as $225 – a price tag that some Democrats are making hay about given the somber timing of the event.

But Christopher Cox, the Anchorage-based promoter of the event, told the Anchorage Daily News the date is purely coincidental and was originally scheduled for a week earlier.

Still, Cox said he understands the significance of the timing.

"You know what, it's a great date for me, for America, for Alaska," he said.

A Beck spokesperson says Sarah Palin is not receiving an appearance fee, and Beck is donating his to charity.

"Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event," a spokesperson for Glenn Beck told CNN.

Event organizers say the 4,000 seat venue is nearly sold out.

doing just some simple quick math, 4,000 times 65 is $260,000... so the "take will be even more than that, and let's say the difference covers overhead expenses (hall rental, security, etc.) – then one can presume that each will be paid at least $125,000 for showing up and doing their schtick... I haven't seen any word on donating those "spoils" to anyone or any group... yeah, some patriots.

Tacky. Leave it to Palin to turn 9/11 into a fund raising event. This chick is a side show. Anybody that listens to her should have their heads checked.

Sarah Palin confesses to be a born again Christian. Well I hope she plans to tell Glenn Beck the truth about his Mormon beilefs, BEFORE the event. If he does not accept the fact that Mormonism is not Christianity, I would not show up if I were her. But it seems another so-called Christian has no problem teaming up with an open idolater. I was okay with Palin, until her true colors started showing. How she characterized her daughter's fornication, and wearing a shirt that told people to get the "H" out of America, etc. It's sad.......

"Wildly successful"? He got a fraction of the number attending that he predicted, and by all accounts it was a snoozefest!

This must be some new definition of the word "successful" of which I was previously unaware.

Will Beck wear a bullet proof under his shirt at this event like he did at the gathering on the mall? I guess Glenn doesn’t trust his imaginary friend in the sky to protect him.

What patriots, huh? They never miss an opportunity to exploit a sentimental day to score a cheap buck. Con men and opportunists, patriots for a price. Pathetic.

This makes no sense! These two have always seemed so honest and respectable in the past. And I read "all" of the political magazines. No, honest, I do.

It just goes to show you that these two are out for personal gain only. How disrespectful. CNN writes opinions about anything so how about one blasting these two. The only two people in the world that did not know what the date 9/11 means.

$arah Palin: Always finding ways to get dumb people to give her money.

"Unclear" if they are being compensated? Those two don't do anything unless they get paid.

If you read the fine print on the website of the Beckistan's Whitestock on Aug. 28, the "donations to the troops" that unsuspecting people (read: suckers) made first went to "costs of the event." In other words, payments to Palin and Beck.

Save your money, good people of Alaska. Your going to need it if the GOP takes over.

Why shouldnt Herr Beck and Sarah Pay-off make $ off of the memory of 911? Dubya & Dick cashed in on the hype and invaded Iraq for the oil monopoly. Glen & Sarah are doing what the GOP have always done: line their pockets with $ in the name of patriotism. As Dylan once said, "Patriotism is the last refuge for a scoundrel". Palin 2012 yawl
