Nine Septembers later, Americans stop to remember

New York (CNN) - Nine Septembers have come and gone and yet, the many days that separate America now from a chilling day in its history did not dull remembrance Saturday.

Once again, the nation paused in silence at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. A few minutes later, at 9:03 a.m., another solemn silence befell New York to mark the moment when a second jet pierced through the South Tower.

As has been customary now on every anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the names of the nearly 3,000 dead will be read out one by one at each of the three sites where people perished - in New York, in Washington and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

I think if there was ONE day out of the year when we all should unite, left and right, Democrats and Republicans, all races and religions of America should put their differences behind us and stand proudly together as one.
    God Bless America

I so upset with CNN. Why can't we focus on the thousands of Americans that died instead of focusing on the Muslim world and what they want to do. Why do we forget so easily that it is muslim extreamist that put us in this situation. This is the reality. Let's stop angering these familes and allow them to mourn.

This anniversary of the terrorist attack brings mixed feelings. While shortly after the killings America pulled together and for once seemed to put aside political issues, it wasn't long before Bush and his henchmen seized the patriotic fervor and used it to launch an attack on Iraq, who, it is proven, had nothing to do with 9/11 and had no weapons of mass destruction, the supposed reason for the the war. Hundreds of thousands of people have died in Iraq, including more than 4000 American troops. While Bin Laden is a true war criminal, Bush's legacy includes many times the casualties. Interesting how in England there is an investigation of the complicity of its leaders in an illegal and immoral war. Why is that we, the USA, a country Republicans are fond of calling a "nation of laws," are not doing the same?

Let's not forget those who died at the Pentagon as well as those brave passengers who died in the separate plane crash, nobody talks about them not even the Ground Zero families. Please never forget all the victims as well as our 4,400 + brave military men and women who died in this war as well as their families. Let's not forget our brave military men and women who are still serving.

One of the the saddest days of my lifetime without question was 9-11-01. The saddest political exploitation of my lifetime without question has been what has transpired in its wake and continues to nauseate me to this day. The fear-mongering and cherry-picking of truth and profiteering that took us into an illegal invasion of a nation that had never before harmed a single American, and the outrageous loss of life it created. The creation of a bloated homeland security business that has done its part to bankrupt us. The religious intolerance that poisons so many of us. Watching such profiteers as Rudy G. fail to have one public conversation without mentioning 9-11 as his crutch. I love my country and I know the core of its people are good and decent. But the manipulative and perverse powers of the vastly smaller ruling class - and all of the selfishness at its core - makes me weep. GOD BLESS AMERICA. The good people who ultimately sustain this great land will win out, in the end.

I hope Americans remember the real facts of this tragedy.
The real number of 9/11 – nearly 8000 Americans dead,
over 100,000 Iraqi and Afghan civilians dead. America a trillion dollars in war debt all because fo 11 Saudi's
    What the number should be:
    11 Saudis dead
    1000 Americans dead
Our national debt reduced by more than 1.5 trillion dollars
    The rationale:
The towers should have been evacuated immediately- not told the buildings were safe leaving hundreds to need rescue form the FDNY.
No was should have been strated saving us money and lives. And we should not have been fighting Iraqi that had nothing to do with this tragedy.
Our greatest losses were caused by Gulliani bad leadership and Bush's fake war.
Remember the thousands they killed needlessly in your prayers today.

If we allow ourselves to abandon our fundamental principles of religious freedom by trying to block the construction of the Islamic Community Center near Ground Zero:

Then those who attacked us on September 11, 2001 have won!

Afterall, Osama bin Laden and his radical Saudi cohorts (trained in Afghanistan, but Saudi nations, nonetheless) hated our freedoms and hated our way of life.

We have the opportunity for people of all faiths who believe in our country and its Constitution to come together and show the world we are bigger and braver than the cowards who attacked us on 9/11.

The Community Center should be built so peace-loving, tolerant, freedom-loving people of all faiths may gather and continue to help build a better world.

People remember they also flew a plane in to the pentagon and kill people and our troops are still fighting a war. How we always can see what he should do and never what he is does. For one day we should all make an effort to unite and not be sooooooo divided on everything. God Bless these families who lost their love ones on this day in 2001.

Remember the 1st responders and remember the Republicans who will not vote YES to help them with their health problems related to 911.
Also, remember Sarah Palin who is celebrating at a booze party with Glen Beck in Alaska tonight.
