Palin, Schwarzenegger in tweet tiff

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Sarah Palin hit back at Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday on her Twitter page."](CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin shot back at California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday, after the former movie star poked fun at the former vice presidential nominee on his Twitter account.

As Schwarzenegger flew over the 50th state on his way to Asia for a six-day trade mission, he posted a photo of himself looking out a plane window at an Alaskan mountaintop. Alongside the picture, the governor wrote that he was "looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here."

The joke was a reference to Palin's now infamous – and often misquoted – answer to a foreign policy question during an interview in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election. Many Americans believe Palin once said "I can see Russia from my house," when in reality, the line was uttered by Tina Fey in a Saturday Night Live sketch.

On Friday afternoon, Palin hit back at Schwarzenegger and took aim the economic distress plaguing his state.

"Arnold should have landed," Palin tweeted. "I could have explained our multi-billion dollar state surplus & US energy security efforts. What's he been up to?"

Schwarzenegger's state has been drowning in debt and budget deficits for years. Alaska has a relatively healthy economy that is heavily reliant upon oil revenue and received federal stimulus dollars.

I can explain their surplus They are sitting on a bunch of oil, they have very few people, bingo!

It is funny you should mention a surplus though. Maybe tyou could explain what your party did with the one they inherited from Bill Clinton. You know madame ex-governor, when the history books are written a lot of folks will wonder at the fact that Bush was handed a budget surplus and a great economy and 8 years later............
Oh well you probably won't read history books any way

Ah, how i love the way CNN goads the readers with PalinNews... nothing quite like inspiring people to get excited.

(Of course, the difference between Arnold and Sarah is that the California guy didn't cut and run!)

She just can't let anything go, can she? The mature thing to do would have been to IGNORE the comment-
She is so UN presidential, it's not funny...but sad.

Mrs. Palin is like the teenager who forgets that her mommy and daddy (i.e., the Federal Govt.) bought the Alaskan car she drives with juicy federal projects brought into the garage by Sens. Murkowski and Stevens) and that her Sugar Daddy (B.P.) pays for most of the gasoline.

Silly Sarah stands for nothing, she's charging people to listen to her on 9/11, and she's having a bar area for people to drink at her rally, where she says she's honoring the people who died on 9/11. So what, you pay 250.00 to hear her demean the President, and say she cares about the victims of 9/11, while she counts her money, her nasty followers tie one on at the bar. Now that's some remembrance of those that lost their lives that day. Is there anything she won't make a buck of off.

The twit tweets a response – and who is surprised? This has got to be the most thin-skinned female alive and yet she is the nastiest. Wants it both ways. This original professional victim act is getting old.

She is too stupid to ever leave well-enough alone. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch, sarah...

Hey Sarah, if Alaska is so well off with a big surplus, then why is it also the biggest welfare state drawing 5 dollars in Federal funds for every 1 dollar in Federal taxes paid? Sounds like you thieves need to be cut off.

Gee Sarah, Maybe if we all got money from the oil companies in such amounts that the state gives all of its residents 1-3 thousand dollars a piece, then we would not have the finanical problems. Of course in the lower 48 states the republican party believes in restricting all sources of revenue to pay for state programs. If we tried to get money out of the oil companies it would be referred to as job killing taxes on the oil companies. Acutally we simply pay a lot more for our oil so that they can give what is basicly welfare checks to the residents of Alaska.

So if Alaska has the multi billion dollar surplus, why is it the largest welfare state in the nation, taking in $1.84 in federal funds for every $1.00 in federal taxes?

At least Arnold was able to finish a term. Didn't have to run off and hide like a scalded dog.

He should consider what he has done for California and then what Palin did for Alaska. Not even close Arnold. Jokes actually on you-perhaps that is why your state is in it's condition.

Given how little time she actually spent in office I doubt she knows the operations of Alaska. Take away the HUGE tax dollar and oil revenue kick backs for their hand full of residents and life would be good. She couldn't handle even the smallest city in the biggest state. Nice talking smack when you don't have any responsibility. Way to go Arnold!

She's right, Arnold SHOULD have landed. Then he could have explained to her that whether or not your state is fiscally healthy, you don't quit your job in the middle of your term. People who REALLY care about the direction of their state stay in a position to do something about it.

I have that explanation, Sarah. When faced with hard times just quit. Running a state is hard.

Sarah needs to think before she Tweets. Arnold has been "up to" governing the state of California; a position he was elected to and has faithfully carried out...something Ms. Palin can't say about her short tenure as Governor of Alaska.

Her retort would be funnier if a) she hadn't resigned as governor of Alaska, b) Alaska and California's economies were comparable in ANY way, and c) she wasn't a complete moron.
