Ad mocking Pelosi goes viral

Pelosi is the subject of one of this season's more zany political ads.

Pelosi is the subject of one of this season's more zany political ads.

(CNN) – He has little chance of unseating House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her San Francisco congressional district, but Republican John Dennis knows how to make a splash.

The California businessman is out with a new Web video portraying the House Speaker as the Wicked Witch of the West in a campy takeoff of the Wizard of Oz.

The parody, released Sunday and already garnering close to 300,000 views on YouTube, includes Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, and Dorothy expressing fright of the state of the nation and bemoaning Democratic policies.

"I will save you from those evil Republicans," a faux-Nancy Pelosi-turned-Wicked Witch of the West assures the frightened group. "But first $18,000 for my downtown office, and then go into massive debt for Wall Street bailouts, and here are my monkeys (IRS agents) to make you pay for it all."

Dennis then appears, throwing water on the Pelosi figure who promptly begins to melt.

"I believe it's time to throw a little water on politicians who do one thing and do another like Nancy Pelosi," says Dennis.

In an interview with San Francisco Weekly, Dennis is pledging more zany videos taking aim at the California Democrat, including parodies of a Few Good Men and James Bond.

Though Dennis has spent over a million dollars on the race, his chances of winning are virtually nil – in 2008, Pelosi won 71 percent of the vote and appears headed for a similarly-large victory this November.

Responding to the ad, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Spokeswoman Jennifer Crider said laughing, "A silly web video deserves a silly response: Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my!”

...and you want people to vote for you with antics like this?????

GROW UP! Leadership and maturity will get you votes. Another item to add to the list why the Republicans are very bad for this country.

What are your plans? What will you do exactly if you win? Details will get you farther than STUPID ads like this.

Your campain (or lack of a real campain) is an EPIC FAIL.

What a jerk! Go ahead, waste your money on this nonsense. Why do the Republicans think people like stupid stuff like this? If he really had anything good to counter Pelosi's positions on the issues, why doesn't he just come out with it instead of being foolish with silly ads? Just state your position and get on with it. Nancy Pelosi is a good politician, she's smart and knows what she is doing. This dummy doesn't have a chance against her. Waste of his time and money. Good!!

Pelosi should be mocked. She is a poster child for what is wrong with American politicians. Her only goal in Washington is to bring money back to California to help bail them out.

As an Independent, I have waited since 2008 General election for Republicans to come up with concrete bonafide real solutions for getting middle-class America and the rest of the country out of the ditch George Bush and the last Republican-led Congress put the country in.

Almost two years later, Republicans have offered nothing but hypocrisy, lies, nay-saying, obstacles, and frivolous worthless fights!

Sorry, but I have lost patience with the Party-of-NO!

The only way the Republicans can run for office is by TRASHING their opponents......they have nothing to run on so they just use stupid idiotic ADs to try to win votes.....they are the most immature bunch of human beings that I have ever seen.....I hope Pelosi wins by a landslide......

Leave it to republicans when they do have a message to attack the character of the person they are running against.

They cannot do anything but give the rich the treasury and try to disparage those who they are running against or those already in office.

I use to vote republican, but never again. I would not even vote for a republican that had no chance of winning so the democrat of others would have better chance.

The republicans use be good for the country and did many good things, but the last 15 years they have dug themselves in a hole deeper than the lowest sewer.

While the ad is cute in a disjointed kind of way, the narrative it portrays is bizarrely devoid of the truth.

It somehow tries to make the point that Nancy Pelosi and Democrats, rather than George W. Bush and Republicans, are tied to Hank Paulsen and should be blamed for the Wall Street bailout. Then, it shows IRS monkeys coming down on taxpayers, in a year when Federal Tax rates for nearly all voters were at their lowest in decades.

Then, Mr. Dennis throws in the Constitution and the usual GOP staging, What a load of crap!

being rude and obnoxious is the hallmark of being a republican. it is one of the hooks they use to snare the emotional retarded. they use sick humor–bible scares–economic nightmares-and they use the strident sounds of the drums of the pied piper to lead the uninformed and and lazy thinker to the polls to vote to complete the ruin of the country that the
last republican administration did not have the time to complete.

John Dennis is not fit to be a politician in this country. Why don't you move to Mexico John? This kind of retoric is what turned me against the republican party after being one for 58 years.

And why does he need free publicity from you? Ms. Pelosi is third in line to become president, and while you may disagree with her politics, she has very successfully used the power of her office to get things done. This is purely sexist – here we have a very attractive woman playing the game as well as any man. Put on your "man pants" and deal with it.

And people wonder why we can't get anything positive done in this country. I call on all political parties/movements (Dems, Repubs, TPs) to stop these ridiculous types of attack ads and stick to the important issues facing this country. If you can't run your campaign on the issues/how you would improve things and have to resort to political pot shots then please stay out of politics.

Sorry, this type of ad is missing the point. The Democrats inherited the budget expenses from George Bush's Administration, along with two wars and tax cuts for the wealthy, like John Dennis. We went from a nation with a surplus, thanks to the Clinton Administration, to more debt than our country has ever known. The wealthy did quite well under Bush, and now we need to clean-up the mess left behind.

Most of the ads are entertaining, however, insult ones intelligence. - I hope most voters recall who "owned" Congress AND the Presidency from 2000-2006. And now those same Republicans want our votes to return them to power??? --- The "radicals" that have taken over my old party.

. . . .is the reason Independents like my self are voting 'straight-Democratic' ticket this year and hopefully give President Obama the Congress he needs to finally break the gridlock and get things done.

You can always tell a conservative manipulation: They love to drape themselves in words like 'Freedom' and 'Patriotism.' Too bad they don't realize that they're the one's who are trying to squash our freedoms by supporting the conservative crooks who got us in this economic mess with their epic incompetence.

Politics have really become a mud-slinging game. It's sad that we allow these kinds of ads to permeate the air. While I am a Dem, I don't think Pelosi has done a very good job. But after seeing this kind of attack on her, I wouldn't vote for the person who approved the ad no matter how bad Pelosi is. This kind of thing has become the norm, and it's disgusting.

Republicans better tone down old Newt Gingrich, he's getting desperate and will distance more and more people from the Republican party. And don't forget in Newt's desperation he will eat his own. Newt cooked his goose long ago and it's over for him.
