Former GOP leader apologizes to Obama, calls Republicans 'racist'

Miami, Florida (CNN) - The ex-chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greer, is now apologizing for stoking fears about President Obama's address to school children last year.

Greer, now under indictment on fraud and money-laundering charges after being drummed out of the state party, also accused "many within the GOP" of having "racist views."

In September 2009, conservatives raised questions about the motives of president's back-to-school speech, which was beamed into many of the nation's classrooms. Greer was among them, charging that "taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology."

"While I support educating our children to respect both the office of the American President and the value of community service, I do not support using our children as tools to spread liberal propaganda," he said then in a statement that made waves around the country.

Greer is now apologizing for those comments.

"In the year since I issued a prepared statement regarding President Obama speaking to the nation's school children, I have learned a great deal about the party I so deeply loved and served," Greer said in a statement Tuesday to CNN and other media outlets.

"Unfortunately, I found that many within the GOP have racist views and I apologize to the President for my opposition to his speech last year and my efforts to placate the extremists who dominate our Party today. My children and I look forward to the President's speech."

Too little, too late. The damage is done already. The GOP and their TRASH – this is what they do – fear-mongering, the BLACK man is going to be talking to our WHITE kids – No oh! this cannot be.

The pathetic thing is that this BLACK President – these GOP can't even come close to having his credentials. A sorry state of affairs!!

I think republicans are making a big mistake by trying THIS mid-term to take over everything.

When there is TOTAL grid-lock in this country, it will show up in two years (Presidential election) when we (the middle) get rid of more OBSTRUCTIONISTS.

Run sara run. She's the easiest to bring the middle out to vote democratic – make progress in this country, not go back to the 40s or 50s.

Ummm........duh? Mr Greer, some of us are well aware of why the teaparty all of a sudden "wanted" their country back. They say too much spending is the reason why they show, but I'm asking: why didn't you show up when Bush proposed the 700 billion stimulus? Or the trillions of dollars for war? Which led us (mature Americans) to conclude what you just recently discovered.

Oh is this news that 99.9% of those in the Teaparty (republicans) are racist? That shouldn't be a shock to anyone who can think for themselves!!

    Some powerful friends.
Keep an eye on the fraud and money-laundering charges – they may vanish.

When people get in trouble (like the charges he's facing) and their so-called firends abandon them, then you finally get the truth-but it's not like most people with comom sense don't already know the GOP has many people who are racists. Tell us something new, something we don't already know...

Why must our President be scruntinized for this nonsense mess. President Obama is doing a wonderful job. He is not a racist the President has a white american mom who was raised with his white side. So how could they say he's a racist. I'm more racist than President Obama.

I'm trying to work that out.
