Chris Coons: Delaware's surprise favorite

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/09/15/art.coons.file2.coons.jpg caption ="Delaware Senate candidate Chris Coons is now well-positioned to win the Senate seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden."](CNN) - Chris Coons may turn out to be the luckiest politician in America this year.

The man suddenly favored to win Joe Biden's U.S. Senate seat wasn't even supposed to be in the race, if most pundits are to be believed. State Democrats were lining up behind the vice president's son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden.

But Biden unexpectedly decided not to run. And other Democrats took a pass on what was thought to be, at best, an uphill general election climb against veteran GOP Rep. Mike Castle.

Now, with Castle defeated in the primary, Coons suddenly finds himself the favorite against arch-conservative upstart Christine O'Donnell.

Tell me where to send my check Mr. Coons. These Tea-tards are in for a rude awakening on 11/2/10. Heck, Mr. Coons, you should hire O'donnell's old campaign manager.

why should he be favored; people wake up we have to get the spending controlled in this country or we won't have a country and the democrats don't have the guts to stop spending. Like little kids in a cookie jar.

New Castle county Chief Executive Chris Coons can not seem to garner any respect from the media . Mr Coons has to see the candidate the media favors fail in the primary before they state that Coons is the new favorite ? There is no way Chris Coons will ever be Joe Biden . The reason is he Chris Coons .

Reminds me of Peroit, not the looks, the way he took votes away from the current runners. Peroit ended up taking them just like the pea-party is going to do with the repubs...just watch and see...they will be MORE divided after NOvember!

Coon leads now, but it's still September.
That is going to be one ugly race from now until November.
The Tea Party SS are not to be ignored or underestimated; as Mr. Castle is sorely aware of at this moment in time.

    This should be interesting....

The reason he's been getting so many donations is NOW, FINALLY, the left IS energized! True we've been dissapointed at the navite of our leaders to pander to the right in hopes of bipartisanship, leading to watered down bills that don't have much hope of changing the status quo quickly, if at all.. but ANYTHING would be better than these absolute loony-tunes running ANYTHING close to our government!

Just like Martha Coakly was a favorite in Massachusetts against Tea Party backed Scott Brown. You can smell the fear in the air, the liberals are rank with it.

The Dems who didn't run are idiots for passing up this opportunity so it is a good thing they didn't run.

Even *IF* O'Donnell loses (remember, nine months ago, there were TWO democrat Senators in Mass.), it may ultimately be a win for republicans after all.

Republicans will still pick up 8-9 seats, just missing taking control of the Senate.

    That means two things:
    1. Massive Senate gridlock;
    2. Democrats will still own the Senate, and all the blame.

Further, a split house/Senate legislature means the spending spree will be stopped, and Obama will have 24 lonely months to limp, whine and teleprompt in the remainder of his lame duck presidency.

I still hope the communist fails.

Coons will be defeated by O'Donnell. And thanks to the Tea Party, our country has a fighting chance to restore freedom and liberty. No longer will the soft tyranny of the federal government be tolerated - it will be abolished. And we will return to the days of Constitutional government by, for and of The People.

Stop Obama and the Democrats and their Socialist agenda. On November 2nd, vote Republican.

CNN, you just said that politicos didn't expect him to win, now you are saying that they don't expect O'Donnell to win, kinda strange eh?

"Why is everyone counting out McDonnell in Deleware? People are angry at career politicians who refuse to listen to We The People!"

You're right. When there's myriad people like yourself who don't even know that her name is O'DONNELL, let alone have any clue about her batsh-t crazy policy positions, but will be voting for her anyway just because you got convinced to be angry and afraid...yeah, we certainly shouldn't count her out: Chances are, the morons outnumber the rest of us.

Eric, you forgot that it looks as though the GOP may actually take the House, in which case they will propose an appropriations Bill that pretty much defunds almost everything in the federal government, particularly the HCR Bill, Social security, Medicare/caid and departments like Education and Environmental Protection, which of course forces Obama to veto the silly nonsense. Their response will then be to stall enacting anything else, which results in pretty much defunding the ENTIRE federal government. Hundreds of thousands of furloughed government employees (that means no pay), a complete cessation of all investigations and enforcement of regulations tha protect us from people like BP and financial industry scumbags and a massive deepening of the recession. They have explicitly stated they intend to go down this road if given control...go ahead...I'm not making it up. They did it with Clinton in 1995 AND LOST THE BATTLE. They want a do-over and it appears we're going to give them one. The only hope anyone with a brain should have left is that the imbeciles who hopped on the GOP's demagoguery sybian machine enjoy the crow they'll be eating within the next 9 months.
