Murkowski huddles with colleagues ahead of write-in announcement

(CNN) - A day before she declares whether she will mount a write-in candidacy to preserve her Senate seat, Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski spent several hours in and around the Senate chamber Thursday talking with her colleagues about the difficult decision she faces.

After unexpectedly losing the Republican primary to Tea Party-backed Joe Miller, Murkowski is scheduled to be in Alaska Friday to announce whether she will run in the general election.

"I don't share personal conversations," Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe said about a lengthy discussion she and Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas had with Murkowski in a closed foyer just off the Senate floor.

Visible through a partially frosted glass door, the three women senators stood together for about a half an hour during a series of votes.

Snowe is a moderate Republican who later complained to reporters that Tea Party supporters want "ideological purity" in the Republican Party. Lincoln, a moderate Democrat, barely survived a challenge from the left in her primary. Now she is far down in the polls to a conservative Republican opponent.

"She's a great colleague and a friend as well," Snowe said about Murkowski. "Obviously, we feel very bad about it. She's been serving in the Senate with great standing and distinction."

Lisa Murkowski served with "great standing and distinction"? According to whom??? She is the worst of the Senate is is nothing more than a servant of Big Oil and special interest lobbyists.

Now she is gift-wrapping a Democratic victory by sabotaging Joe Miller.

Olympia Snowe must be in her own little world to think so highly of Lisa. Not even Sarah Palin likes her.

Go for it Lisa. You can not let those crazy, whacky people win. They are not for Republicans, and definitely do not share our veiws (dems), but these people are really scary. They act like the Flower Children of the 60"s and early 70"s. It's a freak show, with no true leader, and no real substance. They simply oppose EVERYTHING. WTH!!!

She just cant stand the thought of losing to a man that won the election fare and square. So now she will make sure that the votes for a republicans get so thrown around that a Dem will win in Alaska which hasnt happened in a long time folks.
She is just a sore loser and thats all this is about. Well she hates Palin too but thats another story.

If she runs on a write in, the vote against her in Alaska is validated. If she runs, she will split the conservative vote and guarantee a Democrat victory in Alaska...all because of her ruffled pride at losing and her desire to maintain power at all cost. All Senators from both sides need to remember the idea is to serve the public, not gain power. She should ride off into the sunset and make a fortune as a lobbyist!

No wonder voters do not trust so called moderates; they lie and are sore losers. She lost. Miller will win. The hell with her and Snowe. Time for Pubs to support the winners of the primaries and stop flirting with Obama, the Dems, the Journolists and other liberal know nothings!

  17. WAKE UP

I feel Senator Murkowski and other Republicans are now paying the price for their silence when the Tea Party and Republican Palin went off the rails with their extreme views of the world and government. They won't be able to stop this train wreck and many more Republicans will fall victim.

Murkowski is just another link in the "Party of No's" chain. At this point there isn't one iota of difference between any Republican. They have done everything they can to kill America and her recovery just to benefit politically. America deserves better. Just say the GOP.
