For first time in months, President Obama attends church publicly

(CNN) - President Obama publicly attended church Sunday morning for the first time in nearly six months, and shortly after a major survey showed that only a third of Americans can correctly identify Obama's faith as Christian.

The first family attended the 9 a.m. service at St. John's Church Lafayette Square, an Episcopal congregation about a block from the White House.

The Obamas – the president, first lady Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha – made the trip on foot.

The family sat a few rows from the altar, among roughly 40 worshippers. Each family member received communion, led by the president.

This shows just how desperate Obama is – he'll do anything to help salvage his political ambitions.

A person's faith or lack of faith absolutely matter...regardless of what godless liberals think. That Obama's faith seems hidden, except when politically expedient, is not a good sign for those of us who care about such things. And this being a Christian nation (regardless of the libs who choose to ignore our obvious history) it will affect the Overwhelming Majority of November voters in a way the president will not like.

  9. Unbelievable

Finally a case of TRUE transparency! Going to church for a photo op and political theater. What a piece of work. Is nothing sacred with this guy?

What a transparent fraud. Some of the media hassle him about the lack of church attendance while he pimps the ground zero mosque so the next thing you know this corrput, inept, incompetent union toady shows up at a church.

I don't care if Obama attends church. If he don't believe, then skip the photo op and move on.

If he really does believe something, then the media should butt out.

I don't care whether President Obama goes to church or not.
I go every Sunday, but that doesn't mean I do my job well.
This president has not done his job well, and America is dissatisfied.
Most voters don't care now about his going to church.
It's to late for him to work his PR image.

  17. Cheap religious photo op

Attending church 1 day out of the year does not make one a practicing Christian. This reeks of political phot op - and it is insulting to the church and to all Christians

  18. Limbaugh is a liberal

I wouldn't put too much credit in American's knowledge of faiths. Most Americans don't even know that Mormons are Christians too. And most Americans think Catholics are somekind of small Christian sect in America about to die out, despite the fact that every fourth American is a Catholic, making them the LARGEST Christian denomination in the US. Americans also think that all arabs are muslims, despite the fact that most arabs in America are also Chrsitians. (why do you think they left their theocratic countries to begin with?)

You know CNN is not helping with these articles either. By constantly focusing on the faith of public officials they feed these rumors.
So what? What IF Obama was a non-Christian? Why would that matter? What if he was hindu? Or what if he was a shintoist? Why should that matter? It shouldn't make a difference at all!

  20. Wake Up America

Seriously? You know it's campaign season, even obama is going to church.
He's nothing. He's an actor. He's a politician. Come November 3rd, he'll never go again for the next two years.

I disagree with Pres. Obama in most of the issue, but i commend him for going to church. It's a good move and he should always remember that religion is part of American culture
