New York (CNN) - France's first lady Carla Bruni denied Monday that her U.S. counterpart ever told her that life in the White House was "hell."
"Of course Michelle Obama never said such a thing," the former model told CNN's Hala Gorani in an exclusive interview after arriving at the United Nations with her husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who was attending a summit on global development.
The quote came from the unauthorized "Carla et les Ambitieux" ("Carla and the Ambitious"), written by Michael Darmon and Yves Derai and published last week.
In a passage about the French first couple's official visit to Washington last March, the book describes an official dinner at the White House in which Bruni reportedly asked Michelle Obama about life at the White House and her role as first lady.
Michelle Obama reportedly responded that the job is like "hell" and that she can't stand it.
Of course she didn't.
Thank you Ms. Bruni for showing real class and standing up for our First Lady. There are so many out there who need to follow your example. Just because our First Lady hasn't killed someone or ran off with someone else's husband – people want to attack her. While she is not perfect (and none of us are) – she is doing a wonderful job of rearing her two daughters, performing her role as wife and First Lady and restoring our country to the image we had BEFORE the Bush Administration took over.
I'm proud of you Ms. Bruni!
And the recession ended in 2009.
"In fact I was saying the recession was over back in August last year."
That's very cute Fake Sniffit. I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that subtlety isn't one of your strong points. try toning it down a little and people might actually believe I said the words you're trying to put in my mouth.
