Washington (CNN) - A senior administration official defended President Barack Obama on Wednesday as a decisive commander-in-chief ahead of next week's release of a book that reveals an administration deeply divided over U.S. strategy in Afghanistan.
"Obama's Wars," by veteran Washington journalist Bob Woodward, describes a frustrated president who urgently sought an exit plan, only to be provided with options that involved increased U.S. troop levels, the Washington Post reported Wednesday. Woodward is associate editor of the newspaper.
Woodward takes readers behind the scenes in the Obama White House through accounts of closed-door strategy sessions, private conversations, internal memos and hours of interviews with key players.
This just goes to show how wrong one can be. I respected Bob Woodward, but it appears he wants to sell a "book of gossip" to make a bunch money. I'm really disappointed in him and hope the books don't sell and will collect dust on the shelves..
This president has sent 60,,000 more troops to Afghanistan and turned what was a Nato led operation into a U.S. mission. He needs to pull our troops out now. How many more young Americans need to die for a bunch of corrupt warlords that don't have any sense of what freedom means?
What's to defend? People are arguing decisions! They're supposed to argue decisions!
Sheesh! This is not the Bush administration where everyone was a "yes" person and rubber stamped absolutely everything Bush did. Obama is running his administration the way a presidential administration should be run.
What's to defend? They're doing their job. Have the American people become so used to useless suits sitting around a desk giving Bush permission to do anything he wants, no matter how illegal? That's not America. That's not what we do.
Hmmmmm, I wonder how they will try and discredit Bob Woodward? How about it America, getting tired of Obammunism and redistribution of your wealth yet?
From what I read of the excerpts, he is very decisive, screw the military, the left wing voters are the important thing. More important than our childrens lives. This is the phoniest, most inept, most incompetent, most corrupt president this country has ever had.
Looks like "Ike" had it right, the "Sword Makers" are now running the show.Whats a little blood, when Billions of dollars can be made?
know matter who,s commander and chief , the good old boys are in charge, the war profit boys, remember kennedy wanted to getout of vietnam
All Americans have been frustrated over these wars and if Woodward had been listening over the past 8 years, he would know this.
It was obvious that Obama had trouble making decisions on the wars. The obvious reason, is conflict among his own advisors who he has to rely on, to make a decision.
The synopsis of the book I read is typical Obama:
-Arrogant
-Hard headed
–Yet indecisive
-Condescending to even his top military commanders
-Will not listen to any ideas unless it completely agrees with his ideas
-Incompetant
PLEASE vote these fools out power!!!
Does the book mention anything about Obama's wars with the American people who he thinks have been wrong about everything for the last 60 years? Does the book mention if Obama is on some kind of meds?
Makes you wonder who actually is in charge in America!?? Apparently not the President...
I thought Afghanistan was the "war of necessity" Obummie. I knew that you would cut and run from the start. You are the biggest fraud that ever entered the white house.
The national media is basicly liberal with an anti consertive agenda. Why should she go on and allow them to bait her unfairly. It is the liberal media's loss in ratings. Practically no one is watching them and their socialist driven agenda anyway. Ken Krieger Cape Coral Florida
Please it is probably more like a love story from Woodward. I can't believe anyone actually agrees to these books with Woodward except Obama since you know it will be positive. The glory days of real reporting like the exposing Nixon at the Washington Compost are long gone.
Bob Woodward the lap dog of Catherene Graham of the Washington Post still seeing Consperecies behind every Bush. The boy needs to take a long Vacation.
Admittaly Moe is in the driver's seat and Shemp wants to drive the bus but that is old news. I guess Woodward didn't sell enough books about Watergate so he is trying to sell IceBox's to Eskimo's. Who knew.
Ha!
good luck
its funny they feel the need to, dont you think?
they are afraid of bad press and free speech. lol
Well, of course! Obama went into the WH thinking he would just wave his magic twanger around and things would just materialize the way he visioned it in his dreams. Too bad he brought in such hatefilled aides like Rahm and Axelrod and all those awful csars!
They have only helped reveal the truth about Obama, that he is an empty suit.
Jay Leno must be loving this, he gets more commedy material every day from the whitehouse than any one could ever immagine!
