Palin targets 'damned lies'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin announced the launch of a new website Thursday, aimed at defeating twenty incumbent Democrats who voted for President Obama's health care bill and who are running in districts that swung Republican during the 2008 presidential election.

In the announcement on her Facebook page, entitled "Lies, Damned Lies – Obamacare 6 Months Later," the former GOP vice presidential nominee resurrects her claims that "rationing 'death panels'" are included in the health care bill and promotes the new site, which endorses candidates who support the bill's repeal.

Palin is unspecific as to what section of the final bill she refers to as creating 'death panels,' but does link to her original Facebook post which sparked a storm of controversy in 2009. In the post, she stated that the health care bill would create "death panels" that would decide whether people "are worthy of health care."

The claims caused a headache for the Obama administration and propelled outrage among the bill's opponents.

The section which critics of the of the original bill referred to as 'rationing care' and establishing 'death panels' was one which required Medicare to pay doctors for consultations with patients about "advance care planning," such as the drafting of living wills. Those consultations would include "an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice."

In a statement released in 2009, the American Medical Association, which endorsed the bill, said it "would not mandate that patients take advantage of this benefit."

"The new Medicare benefit would allow doctors to be compensated for such consultations every five years, and more frequently if a patient has a life-limiting illness or health status changes," the organization said.

TakeBackThe20, which is funded by Palin's political action committee  SarahPAC, features a map of the United States with crosshairs over the targeted districts and a gallery of the conservative candidates 'recommended' by SarahPAC.

This is not the first time Palin has used crosshairs to identify Democrats in districts that voted for John McCain in 2008. Following the health care vote in March, Palin received criticism for using a similar map and tweeting "commonsense conservatives & lovers of America, Don't Retreat, Instead – RELOAD!"

There's an article on her in the current Vanity Fair. Warning, it contains big words.

"American Medical Association . . . endorsed the bill" but opposed by the health care insurance industry. How could you take her seriously?

    September 23, 2010 06:03 pm at 6:03 pm |

ILook dummies can you not read it does not say directly death panels but it is a section in the health bill that means the same thing for seniors. After they get to a certain age a panel will be set up to decide whether the individual will hav e an operation or further serious treatment. Medications to ease their passing will be authorized and only the medications. No operations or no long term care. If you whooping dancers would take the time out to understand what this bill does you may see he is not the "Great one, who walks on water". This is pitiful to be so dumb. Paliin warned you upfront but you have only ridiculed her. THE TRUTH IS WHAT YOU CAN NOT BEAR. AND OBAMA DOES NOT KNOW THE TRUTH. HE LIIS, HE LIIS, HE LIES, WHAT CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND.

Please Sarah, please run in 2012. I want you to"lock and reload as promise". By the way, maybe you can have Elmer Fudd as your running mate, because you make just about as much sense as the cartoon does.

When are news organizations going to realize that stupid things people say is not actual news? For the sake of our country, please stop covering the ramblings of fame-hungry people who just want to make a buck. When is the news actually going to be 'the news' which are actual facts and events that impact our lives (in case you forgot).

So, what's new? The pledge to america is the same old road we've been down before also. No one should take away a womens RIGHT to decisions affecting HER own body. Especially a man! Just like no one should be able to tell a man what to do with HIS! Just a way to further push their agenda! Lets move FORWARD, NOT backwards!

Boy this idiot is getting dumber every second. Anyone who is thinking she knows what she's talking about must have an IQ of about 10 or less. She is a consummate liar and fraud.

Wow, she can honestly read a simple paragraph and absolutely not understand it. Maybe she should have spent more time reading, she would know what these word thingies are.

So I've got an idea CNN...don't ever, ever post any "news" about or from Sarah Palin. Although many people should be able to read this garbage and realize she is as moronic as she is power hungry, many think she is a "prophet." If there was no more news printed about her, she could disappear into the irrelevancy she deserves.

If this is not enough to get the DEMOCRATS FIRED UP – I don't know what will!!!! Palin is dangerous and she's getting away with it!!!

"Palin is unspecific as to what section of the final bill she refers to as creating 'death panels..."

Well that's because she does not READ and just listens to everyone around her – no matter what!!!

DEMOCRATS – PLEASE do not let the far right RULE this country. If we remain SILENT and DO NOTHING about it – we have NOTHING to complain about when the EXTREMIST get in office!! UNITE the BASE – WE must get out there and VOTE!!!

T'SAH from Virginia and I approve this message...the Original Liberal!!

Just like she was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. The truth is whatever she decides works best at the moment. Great Christian values.

    So sad.

Ms. Palin, I'm currently being treated for breast cancer and the way I see it, health care reform is my guarantee for a long and happy life. See, because of health care reform, my insurance company can't drop my coverage because I'm sick and cost too much. They also can't refuse to insure me. I've always been a hcr supporter – but my situation allows me to see the real need for it – not just for myself, but for the millions of uninsured and afflicted.

Shame on these "christians". Why is it, in their eyes that everything is to be paid for on the backs of the working class?

Thank you democrats and President Obama for pushing for hcr. This is legislation that truly can help millions of working class people. Remember folks, you could be in my situation at any time, and it's reassuring that I have a safety net that wasn't available before. Think about it.

Why or why is this woman allowed to speak. Nothing that comes out of her mouth is common sense. Does she really believe there would be panels to decide who will live and who will die. She is a Wacky Doodle from the get go. She and Christine O'Donnell need to go. God help us if these women continue in the political game.

CNN – why oh why do you keep giving this stupid woman and the crap that comes out her mouth news coverage? It isn't news. Crazy people say crazy things all the time. You don't report that as "news," either. I looked at this article not because I give a flip about what idiocy Palin spewed, but to see how stupidly far CNN went in covering covered it. Just sad.

It is like living in Germany in the thirties... propaganda machines spewing from all media outlets riling up the ill will of human nature with double speak and lies. I am afraid of christians today. I have decided I cannot be a part of such a violent peoples who spew forth lies. "Beware of false preachers for they are ravenous wolves in sheeps clothing."

I'm beginning to rethink religion and how it is taking over our government.. perhaps those who want to live without it were right all along... Religion itself seems to create mass delusion and fascists like Sarah Palin thrive on the power it lets her control over the wailing masses of sheep.

@ DR. BROWN M.D, Thank you for your comment! We have several friends who are physicians who are thrilled that Americans will have healthcare soon!

Question for Republicans who "claim" to be "pro-life": How can you be "pro-life" and against Healthcare?

May God lift the scales from her eyes and heart. This woman really needs to pray. It is not that she is mislead, she is misleading. Those who are mislead will not receive the same judgement as those who do the misleading.

At what point will we stop giving her any credibility. never mind how much she makes liberals blood boil, she only deepens the "lies" hole that the Republicans try to climb out of. She is as respectable as Joe McCarthy. No wait, Joe McCarthy wasn't paid to be a liar so he's got more respect actually.
