Washington (CNN) – Many Democrats have been using former President George W. Bush as a foil in the midterm elections. But one Democratic congressman in a tough re-election bid is using Bush in a new TV ad in a positive way.
(CNN) - Republican Rick Lazio is dropping his bid for governor of New York, but he's not endorsing the man who beat him in the state's GOP primary.
The former congressman from Long Island announced Monday that he will not run for governor as the Conservative Party nominee, saying "I have decided to step aside."
(CNN) - A new national poll suggests that a majority of Americans are considering voting against President Barack Obama in 2012, but the survey indicates Obama would come out on top if Sarah Palin is the Republican presidential nominee.
According to Politico/George Washington University Battleground poll, 38 percent of those questioned say Obama deserves reelection as president, with 44 percent saying they will vote to replace Obama, 13 percent saying they will consider voting for someone else, and six percent unsure.

(CNN) - A new study predicts that when the dust settles from the 2010 Census, eight southern and western states will gain congressional seats largely at the expense of states in the Midwest and Northeast.
According to the unofficial study, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah and Washington would each gain an additional seat in Congress, while Florida and Texas would gain two and four seats, respectively.

It's time to make up your mind on running for mayor of Chicago.
"Rahm will have to make a decision quickly, because running for mayor in Chicago is a serious enterprise, and I know this is something he's thinking about," Obama told NBC's Matt Lauer Monday morning, adding that his top aide had yet to tell him whether he intended to seek the post long held by Richard Daley.
(CNN) – President Barack Obama is responding to the GOP's so-called "pledge to America," saying the newly unveiled 21-page document is nothing more than a continuation of "irresponsible policies."
"What I'm seeing out of the Republican leadership over the last several years has been a set of policies that are just irresponsible. And we saw in their 'Pledge to America' a similar set of irresponsible policies," he told NBC's Matt Lauer Monday morning.
(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden is heading back to New Hampshire to talk about the economy and to help out two Democrats facing tough elections this November.
The vice president is scheduled to host a backyard discussion Monday morning on the economy at a private home in Manchester, New Hampshire, and he'll be joined by the state's Democrats in Congress: Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Rep. Paul Hodes and Rep. Carol Shea-Porter.
