Rahm's first web video

(CNN) - Rahm Emanuel officially announced his "tell it like it is tour" of Chicago Sunday in his first web video since he left the White House Friday to begin the process of running for mayor of Chicago.

He said he will spend the next few weeks visiting the city's neighborhoods "at grocery stores, L stops, bowling alleys and hot dog stands."

During the two-minute address on his new website, Emanuel emphasized his Chicago roots and paid tribute to Chicago's current mayor, Richard Daley. Daley decided not to seek another term after 21 years as mayor.

But Emanuel also said it is time for Chicago to have a "fresh start."

"We need leadership that's tough enough to say now when it needs to be said and smart enough to know what government should do and also what it can't do," Emanuel said in the video.

By fresh start, does he mean voiding all of those budget busting, inefficient, fraudulent, benefit laden contracts with the SEIU, AFSCME and ATU? Or is he meaning create new taxes and raise others to pay for the corrupt relatioship with the unions?

I think he's "the right man for the job!" He'd know what gov't can and can't do as related to Chicago. And, for comparison sake, he's seen leadership in 'inaction!"

I wonder _why_ Rahm wants to be Mayor of Chicago. An overwhelming desire to serve the public? What nobility.

Wouldn't it be nice if the whole inept administration would leave so we wouldn't have to wait until 2012 to throw them out.

It's amazing how so many people who comment are so misinformed about Rahm's departure, this was his plan from day one and the President was aware as well as Chicago.

Chicago politics is such a sad reflection of the politics-as-usual mentality. What great choices we have -> one corrupt, leftist apparatchik to be replaced by yet another corrupt Obamatchik. It's the sad PRAVDA or "the truth" of the Chicagoan Kolkhoz – even Blago looks like a shining star of honesty in that lineup. I'm so embarrassed to live here.

He's as warm as a reptile and as friendly but if he can govern the city go for it!

I'm certain none of the others can. Carol mosley Braun. Please. She couldn't do anything 10 years ago why do u think she's gotten any smarter?

    E. Has incentive. He wants to stay here and work so he'll do what he can to make himself into a mayor.

Change is not instantaneous so let's be realistic about things instead of being cinical.

I won't be supporting Emmanuel. Chicago has slowly started to lose its grip with machine politics over the last few years. Emmanuel in office would regalvanize machine politics.

With emmanuel and his years of vote getting experience, he ll be the new Chief Machinery Operator. This is hardly a new direction for us.
