(CNN) - A new poll indicates that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a three point advantage over Sharron Angle, his Republican challenger, in the Senate battle in Nevada.
According to a Suffolk University survey released Wednesday, 46 percent of likely voters in Nevada support Reid, the top Democrat in the Senate, with 43 percent backing Angle, the GOP nominee and a former state lawmaker who enjoys strong support by many Tea Party activists.
The other six candidates on the ballot are in the low single digits, with four percent saying they will vote for "none of these candidates," which is allowed in Nevada, and three percent undecided.
While Reid's three point margin is within the poll's sampling error, the Suffolk survey is one of only two recent polls to have Reid ahead. All other recent survey's conducted in October give Angle a single digit advantage over Reid.
The Suffolk University poll indicates that Angle holds a 22 point advantage over Reid among independent and non-partisan voters.
According to the poll, Nevadans are split on the job Reid's doing, with 49 percent saying they approve of how Reid is handling his duties as a senator, and 47 percent saying they disagree. But only 43 percent have a favorable opinion of the four-term senator, with 54 percent saying they see him in a negative light.
Forty-one percent of people questioned say they have a favorable opinion of Angle, with 52 percent saying they hold an unfavorable opinion of her.
Reid and Angle face off Thursday night in their first debate.
The Suffolk University poll was conducted October 8-11, with 500 likely voters in Nevada questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

could it be – no wait – could it possibly be that an intelligent experienced politician would win a seat instead of a flake with outrageous outlandish mean ideas – God Bless America and all the smart people in NV – there is hope
Vote yes for senator reid
I am not happy at all with Reid as Senate Majority leader. He has (among other things) single-handedly blocked progress on nuclear material storage site in Nevada that would greatly enhance nuclear power in this country. In fact, I can only think of one reason that anyone would consider voting for Harry Reid:
Sharon Angle.
Beware Nevadans,... better the devil you know, than the one you don't,.. Reid might not be perfect,.. but Angle is scary, secretive, wacko and totally unqualified
Lets hope Nevada keeps the momentum. Even though she represents Nevada, her decisions affect all of us. Women who are raped should not be forced to keep their baby because some crazy woman thinks it's God's plan.
It's a sad commentary on the state of our nation that 43% of likely voters would consider Ms. Angle to be a worthy candidate for Senator. Being angry over the current state of affairs is one thing but voting based on your emotional state of mind will only worsen the situation. Would you hire this individual to be your company's CEO? If your answer is "no", then why would you hire (elect) this individual to a position that is infinitely more demanding than your CEO's job?
Voters are starting to pay close attention now and they don't like what they see from the crop the republicans....very extreeme!!
Looks like all those slurs from the left and lies about foreign money are having the desired effect. The Republicans need to sweep both houses so Nancy and Dick no longer have jobs.
Nevadans are fools if they vote for Reid. What has he done for you lately? NOTHING!
Angle enjoys a 22 point advantage over Reid among "independent" voters. If there were every any question about the intelligence of independent voters, it has been resolved. They are d-u-m-b. Send them back to high school for re-education (or, I suspect first-time education) in civics. I have serious trouble believing that sentient voters would exchange the Senate majority leader for a crackpot like Angle. And please don't tell me Nevada voters don't like Reid because he cuts deals. No legislative body in a democratic society can function without deals, otherwise known as compromises. It is only the immaturity of the American electorate that produces simultaneous complaints about "deals" and lack of bi-partisanship.
Well it's about time people from Nevada start catching a clue about Angle. I guess the bottom line question they need to ask themselves is, "While you may disapprove of Reid, do you honestly think you would be satisfied with Sharron Angle and her potential performance in the real world of the US Senate?"
WOO HOO!!! The latest polls show that Dems are on the rebound. This is largely due to my grassroots effort of pounding the phones daily calling first time 08 voters reminding them to get out the vote on 11/2! LOL. Hey, every little bit helps! Also... the Republicants are self imploding every day...
While I would NEVER vote for Angle I do wish there was someone else besides Reid. This brings me to the question I had in 2000. The lesser of the two evils. Mr. Reid wins hands down. Angle is a maniac and even worst she doesn't appear to be all upstairs. Hello somebody? Her (so called) policies are outrageous and outright disturbing. She does not belong anywhere near the WH. Please for the love and sanity of Nevada – give Mr. Reid another chance.
Anyone is better than that ignorant, hateful Angle. I'm not even sure she's sane. The GOBP should have repudiated her rather than dumping tons of secret money into her campaign war chest. Typical GOBP: Party before country. If you liked the ditch they drove America into last time, you're gonna love the canyon they're aiming for now.
Angle can commit murder tomorrow and she would still be voted on by 40+ percent idiots. It's us independents who will ensure she won't become a senator. All you do is listen to her twisted platforms and if you don't cringe in anger; not sure what will. A crazy wacko teapartier for sure. Go Harry Reid!
So... you see the teaser “Good news for big Dem in poll,” and you click on it…
Up pops the headline “Reid 46, Angle 43” and a brief paragraph reiterating the headline, and you click on “FULL POST…”
You begin to read the article, and you eventually learn that the three-point lead is within the margin of error, and that Reid is trailing in nearly every other poll…
You scroll to the end of the article to find that the sampling error is 4.4 points.
In other words, thoroughly misleading teaser, misleading headline, pointless poll, non-news.
I cannot imagine Sharron Angle representing NV people in Washington. She is not committed to help the unemplyed in NV to get jobs. That's what she said earlier in her campaign – "It is not a senator's job to create jobs". Sad!
So let me guess... the more she opens her mouth, the more people who planned on supporting her decide they would rather have Reid, warts and all!
Will Reid fix this ? ...........................
1977: Jimmy Carter (D) signs the Community Reinvestment Act, guaranteeing home loans to low-income families
1999: Bill Clinton (D) puts the Community Reinvestment Act on steroids, pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to increase the number of sub-prime loans.
2003: The White House calls Fannie and Freddie “a systemic risk.” The Bush administration pushes Congress to enact new regulations.
2003: Barney Frank (D-MA) says Fannie & Freddie are “not in a crisis.” He bashes Republicans for crying wolf and calls F&F “financially sound.” Democrats block the Republican-sponsored regulation legislation.
2005: Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan voices a warning over F&F accounting. “We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk."
2005: Sen. Charles Schumer, (D-NY) says “…I think Fannie and Freddie over the years have done an incredibly good job and are an intrinsic part of making America the best-housed people in the world …if you look over the last 20 or whatever years, they’ve done a very, very good job.”
2006: Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) again calls for reform. “For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac … and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the marketplace … the GSE’s (Government Sponsored Enterprises) need to be reformed without delay.”
2006: Democrats again block reform legislation.
2008: housing market collapses
Thank God!! As a Registed Republican for 25 yrs, I can honestly say that our candidates are extremists & racists. The GOP has become a party of Religious Extremists, and Racists. Angle has not one thing good to say about minorities in her state..... Her remark about Sharia just demonstrates how the GOP wants to scare the hell out of everyone.
Maybe these survey respondents are suffering under the effects of Sharia law and are too afraid to vote for the ever so patriotic and truthful Sharon Angle.
