Obama makes a direct appeal to black voters

Washington (CNN) - President Obama makes a direct appeal to African-Americans to vote Democrat on Election Day, in a new commercial airing on national radio shows and on stations reaching black communities in a handful of key midterm battleground states.

The ad is part of a $3 million outreach effort by the Democratic National Committee to urge African-Americans to show up and vote next month, the committee said.

"On November Second, I need you to stand with ME…and VOTE," Obama said in the 60 second ad titled "Vote" that began running on Tuesday. The emphasis on "ME" and "VOTE" was added by the DNC in a copy of the script provided to CNN.

Having Obama at the top of the ticket in 2008 helped some Democrats win that year and even though his national job approval rating now rests in the mid-40's, a majority of Democrats still hold him in high regard. And successfully encouraging black voters to show up on behalf of Democrats is viewed as an important part of the Democratic strategy to hold onto the House and Senate majorities and mitigate losses at the state level.

Nationally, the DNC stated the ad will run on radio shows hosted by Tom Joyner, Steve Harvey, Michael Baisden, Yolanda Adams, Russ Parr, Bev Smith, Doug Banks, Coco Brother, Al Sharpton and Warren Ballentine. The ad will also air on African-American stations in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Script:

President Obama in Madison, WI:

We cannot sit this one out. We can't let this country fall backwards because the rest of us didn't care enough to fight.

POTUS:
This is Barack Obama.

Two years ago, you voted in record numbers, and we won a victory few dreamed possible.

I know so many across the country are hurting…and think change isn't happening fast enough.

That's why we've fought so HARD to repair the economic mess we were handed…to begin putting people back to work.

Reducing health care costs and STOPPING insurance company discrimination.

Reforming education so it works for EVERY child…investing in programs to keep them off the streets. But now, that's ALL at stake.

The same Republicans who've fought AGAINST change are pushing the same plan that crashed our economy - tax cuts for millionaires; deep cuts to education; repealing health care reform. We can't afford to go back.

On November Second, I need you to stand with ME…and VOTE.

A reasonable request for a follow citizens to get out and vote, This message may play on Black Radio station, but it would be as effective on Latino and Asia radio as well. The young and hip-hop groups.

If the DNC is responsible for the contents they should at least get it right. This economic mess he was handed was caused, mainly in part, by the repeal of the Class-Seagall Act aka The Banking Act of 1933. That Act is what stopped the banks from selling commodities and regulated the banking system. By signing that Act President Clinton opened the perpetual flood gate that put us where we are today. CitiBank came along as a result President Clintons action. By the way, CitiBank was President Obama's #7 contributor for his swearing in. President Bush tried to reinstate The Bank Act in 2007 and was shot down by a Democratic House and Congress... Just thought some of you'd like to know...

You know, just think of what would have been said if George W. Bush or any white politician made a direct appeal to all white people to get out and vote a specific way. This type of behavior by our President is beyond belief, this is racially divisive and contradictory to easing of racial tensions already aflame in these trying times. This reeks of racism and is a blatant attempt by Obama at cultural coercion for a block vote based on race to manipulate the vote a specific way, just like 2008. If you vote Democrat, you are moving on to Obama's Plantation.

Amazingly out of touch isn't he. The country is finally getting ready to move forward again after getting set back by this corrupt, inept, incompetent lying, union toady and he wants the good old days when SEIU/ACORN stole the election.

This seems like a racist approach to voting. What would have happened if Bush made a plea for whites to go out and vote Republican? let's give that some thought!

If Bush had told all the white people to make sure they voted for republicans, Senator Obama would have had a cow.
Racism at its liberal best and not one of you tools will say a thing!

  10. Racism?

Of course this isn't about race, is it? Voters need to make educated and informed decisions on who they vote for based upon their research and results of the past two years. If it's based on just color or what rich celebrities and radio talk show hosts are saying, then I guess America is just full of sheep who do not want to study the facts, the results, and make the right decision. Imagine Al Sharpton or other liberal racists blowing a gasket if President Bush made the same appeal to white voters! This year and 2008 represent the most partisan and racist elections I've ever witnessed and what's worse, double standards are the norm. Is that what's needed in this country, racial bias along with arrogance, a government takeover, increased unemployment and deficits, and continued partisan politics? There are at least six million unemployed Americans who are still waiting on those "shovel-ready" jobs that were promised two years ago!

Now we're talking desperate. Let's throw in the race card asking all good black voters to vote Democrat. Imagine the outcry from the left if some white Republican called on all good white voters to vote Republican. Which step in Obama's plan to unify the country and transcend racism is this. A couple more steps and we'll be having race riots and another civil war.

Taking a cue from Obama, I urge all white voters to take a stand and come out and vote against Obama.

Reducing health care costs and STOPPING insurance company discrimination......Obamacare is costing corporations and individuals billions of dollars in increased costs and it hasn't even started yet.

Okay, so now he's playing the race card. STOP IT MR. PRESIDENT, you are suppose to be the President for all Americans not one race, however many of them truly don't understand what you are doing/have done and will do. And please remember you are 1/2 white, Whoops is that politically incorrect I don't think so. I heard your buddy Alexi say Kirk never ran a business, and is double taking. Yep Alexi who ran his families bank into the ground.. and by the way , YOU SIRE HAVE HAD NO EXPERIENCE RUNNING A BUSINESS EITHER! Do something for the country .. here's a change for you get a bill passed to set 6 year term limits, and no golden parachutes, like health insurance for the rest of any member of congress, Presidnet VP etc... and here's a good one for you cancel secret service coverage for any president/family who has been out of office 3 years. ALL FORMER PRESIDENT MAKE MORE MONEY ANYWAY THEY CAN PAY FOR THEIR OWN SECURITY>!!!!!

I would never vote for a person based on race, sexual preference..etc. I stay informed and vote on the issues. This appeal to black voters is insulting. Talk about sending a really, really bad message to kids!!
