Obama makes a direct appeal to black voters

Washington (CNN) - President Obama makes a direct appeal to African-Americans to vote Democrat on Election Day, in a new commercial airing on national radio shows and on stations reaching black communities in a handful of key midterm battleground states.

The ad is part of a $3 million outreach effort by the Democratic National Committee to urge African-Americans to show up and vote next month, the committee said.

"On November Second, I need you to stand with ME…and VOTE," Obama said in the 60 second ad titled "Vote" that began running on Tuesday. The emphasis on "ME" and "VOTE" was added by the DNC in a copy of the script provided to CNN.

Having Obama at the top of the ticket in 2008 helped some Democrats win that year and even though his national job approval rating now rests in the mid-40's, a majority of Democrats still hold him in high regard. And successfully encouraging black voters to show up on behalf of Democrats is viewed as an important part of the Democratic strategy to hold onto the House and Senate majorities and mitigate losses at the state level.

Nationally, the DNC stated the ad will run on radio shows hosted by Tom Joyner, Steve Harvey, Michael Baisden, Yolanda Adams, Russ Parr, Bev Smith, Doug Banks, Coco Brother, Al Sharpton and Warren Ballentine. The ad will also air on African-American stations in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

President Obama in Madison, WI:

We cannot sit this one out. We can't let this country fall backwards because the rest of us didn't care enough to fight.

This is Barack Obama.

Two years ago, you voted in record numbers, and we won a victory few dreamed possible.

I know so many across the country are hurting…and think change isn't happening fast enough.

That's why we've fought so HARD to repair the economic mess we were handed…to begin putting people back to work.

Reducing health care costs and STOPPING insurance company discrimination.

Reforming education so it works for EVERY child…investing in programs to keep them off the streets. But now, that's ALL at stake.

The same Republicans who've fought AGAINST change are pushing the same plan that crashed our economy - tax cuts for millionaires; deep cuts to education; repealing health care reform. We can't afford to go back.

On November Second, I need you to stand with ME…and VOTE.

I don't see a problem with this. Republicans make direct appeals to so called Evangelicals and Catholics, oh and anyone else as long as you are not gay, black, jewish, hispanic, muslim...................

I wonder if Pres. Bush asked all white people to vote for him if that would sit very well with the left. Of course not. He would be a RACIST if he did something like that. Also, Obama, news flash, but most blacks vote for you cause your black..

Here we go again with the most divisive president ever. Blacks have higher unemployment rates than any other race. What has he done those that want to work? The answer is nothing.

Obama is a racist. If a white president was directing commercial time to white people, the press (righfully so) would go bonkers. Obama practices racism and not a peep. No wonder respect for the supposed MSM is at a alltime low...

Blacks initially did not want to vote for Obama because they knew the Tea Hate Klan and bigots would do everything they could to beat him in the General Election. Now that Obama won, Blacks are seeing the delayed impact of the backlash and obviously we see the vitriol, bigotry and racism from those groups on steroids. Thanks to the media propagating and promoting the Fox clones, their wacked fruit loops are getting way too much credit and free advertising.

Obummie, dumbocraps get 90% plus of the black vote. What is there to gain? You better focus on the average white and Hispanic American. You haven't done anything except lie about shovel ready programs, increase the national debt by 20% and create social class and race divides. What a failure !!! Hope don't feed the family. And the change you gave us is for the WORST!!!

If the black voters have any commons sense or self respect left, they will show up to vote and that would be for the GOP.

Mr. President: Not only are you being racist, you are lying. Where are the jobs? Also, my health insurance, which I thought was just fine to begin with, has just informed me that my premiums are going WAY up, due to Obamacare. Thanks for nothing!

A vote for any Democrat is a vote for the overreaching, overspending, overtly divisive agenda of Obama, Pelosi and Reid that will end in failure and bankruptcy for our country.

A vote for any Republican is a vote for the Constitutional principles of freedom and liberty, and a free market economy. On November 2nd, vote American, vote Conservative, vote Republican.

I see the community organizer is doing what he only can do. Let's talk about deficit. Reported today was that under his 18 months our deficit rose 3.1 trillion dollars and he wants more.

    He is full of it.

I am African American and will stick by President Obama!!! And those who have a problem with what he is asking should stop and THINK – White politicians ask for our vote too!!!

African Americans should really get more involved!! If it wasn't for me being the spokesperson for my entire BIG, GIGANTIC family, they will not know what's going on!!! I have registered MANY and making sure they get out and VOTE.!!

I truly believe if EVERYONE, including African Americans, get out and vote in our district – CAN'Tor may be out of a job!!

To my SISTERS and BROTHERS I am asking you to do the same. Get out and VOTE!!! Electing President Obama in 2008 is NOT the end of the saga. He needs us in 2010, 2012, & 2014 – PERIOD!!!!

We cannot dessert President Obama – nor should be dessert others who voted for him and saw the same dream!!

DEMOCRATS – UNITE the BASE and stick together!! INDEPENDENTS who have not drifted too far right, stick with the program also!!!

This is T'SAH from Virginia and I approve this message!!

If a white President or any other white politican ever appealed to white voters to vote a certain way," RACISM" would be screamed to the heaven and past. This makes me sick.

I am just wondering out loud – I thought Obama was going to be the person that brought "the races" back together? No longer "whites" and "blacks" but various shades of "grey"? Why it is that when a "black" man if finally elected president we have significantly more racial divide than we have had in 50 years? That is because an extreme left wing Democrat like Obama is not successful unless he divides the nation and creates infighting. Christians against Muslims, Rich against Poor, Black against White, North against South, East against West, Unions against Businesses, Conservatives against Liberals, etc. Do you realize that the above mentioned groups were not NEARLY as divided as they are now? Whose fault is that? Obama of course!! He is an arrogant and incompetent president who creates a nation divided and this country cannot heal until this inexperienced fool is kicked out of office in 2012.

Glad he is not playing a race card. Always ask what the flip side would be; if a white politican made an appeal to whites. I thought we were going to be beyond race if Mr. Obama was elected. I guess not, what a shame.

When are black voters going to wake up and realize the Democratic Party offers them nothing more than more years of struggle? How about promoting the belief that black voters can grow and prosper in America based on their own personal qualities and efforts rather than treating them like retarded stepchildren who can accomplish nothing unless it is provided to them by the government.
