Washington (CNN) - Former CIA covert operations officer Valerie Plame, whose identity was revealed during a 2003 scandal regarding intelligence gathering prior to the Iraq war, and her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, are speaking out about what happened in the aftermath of the incident.
In an interview with CNN Anchor Wolf Blitzer in the Situation Room, while promoting their new movie about their ordeal, "Fair Game," Wilson called Vice President Dick Cheney a "traitor" and claimed Cheney "betrayed the national security of our country" for being involved in leaking Plame's covert identity.
Wilson insists Cheney was involved in the disclosure, although the only person who has admitted to breaking Plame's cover is Richard Armitage, the former Deputy Secretary of State who said he leaked her name inadvertently to journalist Robert Novak

BLITZER: Let's talk about some of the people involved. You mentioned some of them. And I want both of you to give me your quick reaction when I mention their names, what you think about them. Dick Cheney.
PLAME: I think he has an extremely dark view of the world. And his idea of the One Percent Doctrine, which was, you know, there - if there's a 1 percent chance of a terrorist attack or something affecting our national security, we're going to do everything to prevent it. And that sounds good, except what it really means is it undermines the very values that we as a country hold dear.
WILSON: Traitor.
BLITZER: "Scooter" Libby.
PLAME: I think he's someone who was doing everything he could to protect his boss, Vice President Cheney. And he was left out to dry.
WILSON: Traitor.
BLITZER: Well, you say that "Scooter" Libby is a traitor and - and Dick Cheney is a traitor. That's a serious word...
WILSON: Absolutely.
BLITZER: And you know, as a diplomat, what that means...
WILSON: Absolutely.
BLITZER: - betrayed...
WILSON: They betrayed...
BLITZER: - the United States...
WILSON: - the national security of our country.
Plame also said that she is unaware of what happened to all of her sources or 'assets,' after her identity was released, and although a CIA damage report was purportedly done, she was unable to see the results.
"That's exactly why it was so insidious, what happened, because it's not just me and my career," Plame said. "That's one thing - but the entire network of assets with whom I've worked with over the years was compromised, was put into jeopardy."
Tune into CNN's The Situation Room at 5 p.m to see more of Wolf Blitzer's interview with Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson.
Does Plame feel left out? This is history and she was not a covert agent, so she can go back to the trailer park and booze up.
Damn straight. Worse than a traitor he is an outright fraud and con-artist. He should be sued and the taxpayers reimbursed from his war profiteering...while he now collects his secretly negotiated golden parachute from Haliburton. If this isn't a complete conflict of interests, I don't know what is.
Why did it take so many years for someone to say this on TV???
Cheney should have read Ozymandias...
...well then again, bloodthirsty F-rs don't get subtleties, not even after they soot their "friends" in the face.
George HW Bush also said that anyone revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative is committing an act of treason.
Lest you forget, George HW Bush is a former director of the CIA ...
So, appearently they (whoever they are) not only talk about Obama like a dog, but others as well.... Wilson is an idiot. Just pay him off.. Thats all he wants anyway.
Speaking of traitors...
I can hear Dick Cheney saying "So" somewhere in America right now. He didn't care then and he does not care now. His motto is the end justifies the means. He has bred a whole new breed of republicans. The republicans running today are just like him. Do anything to get elected and don't apologize for anything. Blame it on someone else if at all possible. In the end you, the republican candidate, really does not care about the voter.
Wilson is absolutely correct. Both Cheney and Libby are traitors and should be in jail.
Wilson is absolutely right.
Everyone who was invlovled has admitted their part. Yet she still doesn't understand. Amazing that this woman worked in 'intelligence'. Now she's just a political hack trying to make some money off the situation. Proves my point about most people who work in government.
It is a terrible miscarriage of justice that Bush and Cheney have got away with what they did re the whole Iraq fiasco. Obama knows what they did and chose not to pursue it in the courts.... which makes him as bad.
Cheney, Rove, and the entire Bush republican culture of corruption needs to be serving time in GITMO.
Hey, Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame........sit down and shut up...your 15 minutes of fame ended years ago. Nobody but lunatic democrats cared then and nobody cares now.
Truth finally and you all talk about Obama
Wilson is a LOSER, Blitz is a LOSER
The Wilsons are the biggest media hounds on the planet. It is long known that neither Cheney or Libby outed Mrs. Wilson. Same Democratic mantra as always and that is repeat a lie enough times and someone might think its true. By the way if you polled the people that work at the CIA who the traitors are it would be the Wilson's.
National security does not seem to be important to Cheney, or even the right wingnuts and baggers.
Anyone want to clue in this DNC supported couple that the "blame Bush/Cheney" train left the station about 2 years ago? The Obozo folks just do not give up trying to shift the blame for their massive failures do they.
Many G.W.Bush popping up in tea party many Dick Cheney still in GOP when GOP and Tea party are together we may see the replay of Bush Cheney again
I would use the word Pimp , not traitor !
What else would we expect from the "as long as I get mine" Dick Cheney but wanton abuse of others? This is a guy who refused to take responsibility for this "best friend and strongest supporter" Scooter Libby, even to the point of nearly bringing down a hapless George W Bush and his Administration. Cheney is the guy who, after shooting a hunting partner in the face and very nearly killing him, forced the man to apologize to _him_, to take the blame for having been shot; as we recenlty learned, that poor guy never even received any sort of apology from Cheney.
Cheney is the guy who used the excuse of "looking out for America" to line his own pockets, to exercise his distended sense of paranoia, his I-am-king complex. The entire world has suffered, hundreds of thousands have died, George W has been left with about the worst legacy of wasted deaths any president has ever had-all to feed his sick ego. He has now unleashed a vengeful daughter in his own image. Heaven help us all. Thank those heavens for a few brave and strong sould like Plame and Wilson who continue setting Cheney's record straight.
There is no question that if a democrat did what Cheney did he/she would be tried for treason.
Cheney is not only a trader he is also a war criminal. I do not know how he can sleep at night.
But this isn't news. Everyone knows that Cheney was a traitor to America.
Wow, look at the GOP shills here who still don't own up to the documented fact that the Cheney VP's office was behind the outing of a covert agent (that is a fact proven in court phoenix86). Blowing the cover of a covert operative in a time of war used to be called treason by the GOP. But then that was before traitors like Karl Rove and Dick Cheney ran the party. That was when Republicans who had fought in war knew that the country came before the GOP.
