CNN Poll of Polls: Americans divided on Obama
Washington (CNN) - Forty-seven percent of Americans approve of how Barack Obama is handling his job as president, while 48 percent disapprove of his job performance, according to a CNN Poll of Polls compiled and released on Friday.
The presidential approval asks respondents if they approve of how Barack Obama is handling his job. It serves as a barometer for Americans' opinion of Obama's job performance. As midterm elections approach, it is also an indicator of what Americans consider as they approach the ballot box.
This newest edition of the CNN Poll of Polls is an average of three national surveys conducted during from October 13-18: Pew Research (October 13-18), AP-GfK (October 13-18), and NBC/WSJ (October 14-18). The Poll of Polls does not have a sampling error.
While the president is not on the ballot this year, his performance in the White House is a major issue in the election. Republicans are trying to frame the midterms as a referendum on Obama and his agenda, especially what the president's done in dealing with the economy.

This poll saddens me but it doesn't surpise me. People are buying the Republican and Tea Party lines which blame everything wrong in the world on President Obama. Shame on those who buy these lies and half-truths. He's only had 2 years and during that time the Repubs have done nothing to help him. They rtruly are the party of no no and more no's.
I don't approve of everything our President has done, but I still believe he is doing much better things than any Repub has done in the years of Bush, Bush and Cheney.

Why do people place all the blame on President Obama? Their demands and expectations are ignorant at best. I guess because he is just one man and it's easier than to point at one than it is to point at 40. Vote against the Party of No.
Maybe if the media, who answer only to their corporate owners, would actually report what this President has done for us Main Streeters, as opposed to the last administration who increased the wealth of the wealthy exponentially, things would be different. As it is, though we got a tax break because of the stimulus bill, a majority of Americans think Obama actually raised their taxes. This is the purposeful spread of misinformation, meaning the media is no longer doing news, its doing schilling for their corporate owners. No wonder news papers are dying. Can cable "news" be far behind?
It is now obvious that Obama was not up to the task of being President as most of us Hillary supporters realized early on. So I will vote in a manner that gives this President the support he needs, the people around him to get the job done and the courage to forge ahead. He is cleaning up the mess of the Bush Administration and I will not abondon him now.

Obama is a smart man doing a good job playing the very bad cards he was dealt by the disasterous previous administration. It's true that things aren't going well in this country, but Obama has prevented them from becoming much worse. Bush started a landslide of disaster that wasn't even peaking yet when he left office. A lot of things Bush did were like seeds planted and they wouldn't sprout and bear fruit until later. So far Obama has had to spend most of his time on damage control just to keep the country from running into the disaster it was headed for when he took office, so it's not surprising that things aren't peachy.
This country amazes me in its ability to somehow escape reality. People here believe all kinds of ridiculous things that have absolutely no truth to them, and they ignore reality that stares them in the face. I've run into Republicans who actually think Obama raised taxes on the middle class, for instance, when nothing could be further from the truth... but I guess FOX News told them to think that, so they followed along like baby ducks. It's embarrassing, watching your countrymen engage in such ignorance. I'm not sure this country won't collapse under the weight of its population's ignorance, and – as much as I love this country – I'm not sure it doesn't deserve to anymore. Americans are fighting the people who are trying to save them, all because of a childish belief in propaganda. They're getting ready to turn control back over to the crooks who landed us in this mess, and the sheer STUPIDITY of that is just depressing.
I am still liking Obama and most of his policies. I read yesterday a conservative website and was very frustrated to see that this respected website was still trying to say that there are death panals. How can you vote for the republican party when they spread lies and half-truths. I think too many people are voting from fear due to the economic situation and not realizing that Obama is working to rebuild our economy.
Things are hard now for a lot of Americans. A lot of people are
out of work. That is why Democrats should stay focused and get to the polls and vote, and vote hard.
You think you're having problems now? If Rand paul is voted into senate, if O'Donnell is voted into senate, if the woman who is
trying to take Reid's seat in Nevada is voted to Senate, do you think your problems are going to get better? These are all
extremist. Do we want extremists in control of us. And our social security and cutting the Dept of Education?
If you think you are angry now, let these zealots get control of things like your social security and cut out
everything the middle class stands for. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people to cut off their noses to
spite their faces based on their prejudices and propaganda. None of these extremists is capable of finding jobs, only obstructing progress of the ones who are actually doing something. Harry Reid has done more for Nevada in its history.
President Obama has done more in two years than the republicans messed up in eight. Before you follow ignorance over
the cliff, you had better first of all VOTE democrats, secondly ask yourself at the polls are you voting your own interests
or are you reversing the progress taking place by voting for people who have no answers at all. We must stay the course, If not , only blame the person in the mirror.

We know what leftism and ths status quo give us and Obama is it. Unless I see real change I can't see approving of Obama anytime soon. Still haven't seen the post racial and partisan President we were promised.

So his poll numbers are higher than Clinton & Reagan's were at this point in their presidencies....
c'mon CNN, how about you do some real reporting? What are the demographics of the vote? A good guess is that the pro-Obama votes are from mostly urban people and mostly from people who live off of the government. People who want to support themselves and contribute to the country are not for Obama.

Earth to genius: Not all the votes in CA can trump the Constitution. You want to have a vote on it, you're gonna need enough votes to amend the Constitution in a manner that is inconsistent with its already-existing provisions.
