White House Dispatch: Hollywood star takes leading role to lift Dems

(CNN) - Hollywood heavy hitter actor Jamie Foxx tried to rev up Democrats and counter criticism that Republicans have the corner on enthusiasm at a party rally for Senator Barbara Boxer Friday.

Foxx implored the audience at the University of Southern California to get engaged.

"I need that enthusiasm," he yelled to the crowd, moments before President Obama took the stage on his West Coast campaign swing. Foxx waved his Flipcam at the crowd gathering shots for his Twitter account.

The Oscar winning actor-musician, who has starred in such hit movies as "Ray," said Democrats shouldn't forget the excitement of the 2008 presidential campaign.

"I was at the inauguration," he said. "I remember how enthusiastic we were during that whole time."

Foxx joked that back in 2008 Mr. Obama's name was plastered on everything including "soda pop."

He's trying to recapture that excitement to try and help Democrats win tight races in the quickly approaching midterm elections.

Foxx whipped up the crowed like a college campus pep rally: "If you're gonna vote Democrat I need you to chant with me 'yep! Yep that's me, yep!"

The crowd followed the script, just like the White House and Democrats hope they will on election day.

America is sick of Hollow-weird stick men trying to prop up us some failed liberal ideological agenda, do you think that Jamie Foxx knows what it is like to wonder if he has next months house payment? Guess not, it is always the same elitist type of anything goes liberal that back this clown...wonder what Wesley Snipes would say about Obama, maybe he would kick his ass!

The reason Obama's name hasn't been plastered everywhere is due to the fact that no one wants to be associated with a failure. People are putting as much as much distance between themselves and Obama that they can in hopes to hold on... but "change" and "hope" are on the way

As I rode the slowest horse in the race I knew that my defeat was near... But then, a light. A light so bright that I knew it was my destiny to reach. Harder I pushed that mustang. Further I fell, till I had a vision. A vision of a world that no longer feared modern man. He was a man of no sorts. A man that could do me no harm. As I got closer I could hear the chime. The signal. Was it a warning? Was it an Omen? Naaaaaaaa.... It was my alarm clock... The world was in prospective now. WAKE UP AMERICA!!! There is a rush of stuck on stupid happening right now. When you vote.. Do it from your heart. Do it from what you believe and not what someone programs you to. You are an individual. You are the one that can make a difference. Be that difference and don't let "Fear" as President Obama put it, or the junk you hear on biased channels... Be yourself and do what is right.

  8. GOP Scorched Earth Politics

Huge crowd over 30,000 – the only reason they couldn't get more than 100K is the traffic and parking in L.A. can't accommodate – due to construction projects and gridlock. How many people show up to GOP rallies ? 50 ?

There's lots of enthusiasm building for the Dems as sane and rational Americans notice (1) how insane the GOBPbaggers are talking and behaving, (2) that no one in the GOBP has any valid ideas, and merely parrot the talking points from their cult of deregulation, tax cuts for the ultrarich and that mythical "smaller government" they always expand when in office, and (3) the mindblowing amount of faceless and/or foreign money thats being pumped into the campaign in favor of those rightwing extremists.

Any hardworking American with a working brain knows the Party of No has no ideas, no plans and absolutely no concern for anyone but the rich. The teatards are way out of touch with Main St. America and the voters are starting to see through all the fear, lies, hate, ignorance and propaganda being launched into our living rooms on a nearly non-stop basis. This awakening is happening, people. Get out the vote and remind everyone to vote Dem unless you prefer the American Taliban take over.

I don't think Obama get's it. Bringing in Hollywood actors is not what the American people are looking for. They are looking for jobs, they are looking to save their homes, they are looking to be able to afford to send their kids to college, they are looking to stop the spending that their great grandchildren will be paying for. Bringing actors isn't the answer. Fixing the issues is the answer. Obama is so disconnected that it is amazing he even lives in the same country with the rest of us. Obama and his family may be living great but the majority of us are trying to get by in these tough times.

Jamie Foxx, you were classic in Booty Call!! We voters are engaged my friend!! Totally engaged to send all Dems home... Sorry, but we do not like the Dems vision for our country.... It is going to be a great November... And to you serial bloggers on here that worship Obama, I do enjoy seeing you beginning to unravel in your posts... The desperation and despair is tearing you apart and allowing us to see your true colors.. lol

  12. Name Typical American

The Dems are getting despirate. I don't think that our youth are so gulible as to listen to some actor as if his opinion is significant. Actors are known only because of their work on screen. This gives them NO expertise on politics or even social issues. Most are wealthy (didn't Obama say that there comes a time when you've earned enough) and are poorly educated. Again, I think our college students are smart enough to see through the veneer of celebrity and think for themselves. Boxer is a GREAT example of an arrogant elitist who must go!

I was there today at the rally! The crowd was so motivated and filled with excitement. Obama, Boxer, Brown, Harris, and Mayor Antonio villagrosa gave amazing speeches. Democrats will have no problem winning in Blue California. Its the battleground states that are in trouble for the dems. Why do we want to go back to the policies that brought us into this economic mess? Supply side economic doesnt work! It only creates huge deficits, debt. Obama is tryng his best to fix this country but the GOP is tryng to obstruct him, and make him fail..and have the people take out their anger out on him. Conservatives love screaming "socialism! Big government!" but they didnt cry when Reagan and W. BUSH expanded government and spend trilions. i guess for them its ok to spend trillions in war and to ship jobs oversea, and its not ok to spend it here in the U.S to create jobs, schools, etc. Those who cry socialism...maybe u shouldnt bother with social security benefits when u retire since its a socialist program!
