CNN/Time Poll: Angle 49, Reid 45 in Nevada

(CNN) - With six days to go until the midterm elections, a new poll in the most high profile Senate battle in the country indicates Republican challenger Sharron Angle holds a four point advantage over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

According to a CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday, 49 percent of likely voters in Nevada are backing Angle, who enjoys strong support from many in the Tea Party movement, with 45 percent supporting Reid, the top Democrat in the Senate who's bidding for a fifth term in the chamber. Angle's four point margin is within the poll's sampling error, making it a neck and neck race.

Two percent questioned in the poll support Scott Ashjian, who is running as a Tea Party candidate, but who is shunned by many in the grassroots conservative movement, and three percent say they are voting for none of the candidates listed, which is a ballot option in Nevada.

Other surveys released in the past two weeks also indicate a small single digit margin for Angle.

According to the CNN/Time poll, Reid leads 96 to 3 percent among Democrats, with Angle leading 82 to 10 percent among Republicans and 53 to 38 percent among independent voters.

"Reid is doing best in Clark County, home not just to Las Vegas but to his hometown of Searchlight," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "He manages a virtual tie with Angle in her home territory in Washoe County, where Reno is located. But Reid is getting clobbered in the rest of the state, losing the rural areas of Nevada by more than three-to-one."

In a sign that enthusiasm for voting appears to be on the Republican side, when expanded from those likely to vote to the larger sample of all registered voters, Reid holds a 43 to 39 percent advantage over Angle, with five percent backing Ashjian and 12 percent saying they'll vote for none of the candidates.

President Barack Obama teamed up with Reid in Nevada last week. According to the poll, 39 percent of likely voters in Nevada approve of the job Obama's doing as president, with 59 percent saying they disapprove. Among all adults in the state, 44 percent approve of the job Obama's doing, with 49 percent disapproving of how he's handling his duties.

In Nevada's gubernatorial battle, the Republican nominee Brian Sandoval holds a 58 to 34 percent lead over Rory Reid, according to the survey. Six percent questioned say they're supporting neither candidate. Sandoval, a former federal district judge in Nevada, defeated Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons and three other candidates in the June GOP gubernatorial primary. Reid, a lawyer and commission chairman of Clark County, Nevada's largest, is also Sen. Reid's son.

The poll indicates that Sandoval has a more than two to one lead over Reid among independent voters.

"Rory Reid does not have his father's geographical strength," says Holland. "He loses Clark County by 12 points despite his time as a county commissioner there. He is also down by more than 20 points in the Reno area and loses the rest of the state by a six-to-one margin."

The CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted October 20-26, with 1,504 Nevada adults, including 1,286 registered voters and 773 likely voters questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points, with a sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points for likely voters.

GOP voters have the dominant fear-war-selfish gene. They can't help it. They're just not nice people (well bigots can be nice sometimes.. to their own). And 'swing' voters are just plain stupid – where have they been the past 20 yrs to not understand what each party stands for?

I guess 2012 really could be the end of humanity if the tea partiers are given much more power (by the soul-less corporations).

She's also a member of the john birch society, which also opposes the flouridation of drinking water and believes its a commie conspiracy, not to mention she used to be (and probably still is) pro-prohibition...honestly how batshit crazy do we have to be to vote people like this in...if we do, we can forget ever gaining back or in the future any credibility amongst other nations

Ignore these phony landline polls, which the so-called "liberal" media keep pushing in an apparent effort to discourage Dem voters. Average hard working Americans have seen the light, and recognize that the GOBP is a desperate cult, and rather than admit their articles of faith, such as deregulation, tax cuts for the ultrarich and unfair global trade, are PROVEN FAILURES, these nutjob extremists instead are seeking to spread their darkness of ignorance, fear, lies, and hate. We are the light, and our votes will send the teatards scuttling away, like cockroaches from the light. The Party of NO has no plan, no valid ideas and certainly no concern for Main St. America. They are massively out of touch with the poor and working class. We know this, and will vote accordingly. Then get your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to vote for non-teatards as well.

Fear not, Senator Reid. Those pre-printed ballots will pull you through. Not to mention the SEIU members who are the sole contracted voting machine technicians for Clark County. It's in the bag Harry.

LOL! Say it ain't so. LOL Looks like the only ones dumber than Angle are the NV voters. LOL Go ahead, vote her into office....along with all the other crazies who believe women (your daughters/sisters/wives, etc) MUST bear their rapist's child – as if the antichrist was just going to appear instead of being born like the rest of us. How about that you nut-jobs? What if you force a girl who was raped to bear the antichrist??? We all know only the devil himself rapes women...right. I mean, the only way for a woman to bear the antichrist is if the devil has sex with her. LOL Idiots.

Harry Reid proved how little can be accomplished with $3 trillion. America can not afford his brand of politics or Federal government "management". We need someone in the Senate who understands economics. It will take decades for America to recover from Harry Reid's poor political driven activities in the last 18 months.

People are angry but I wonder if that anger is misdirected? I don't care what type of system you have. I don't care whether it's socialism, capitalism, communism or a fascist state... No economy expands and grows forever, it's simply not sustainable. So blame each other when things slow down, blame the politicians, call each other names, demonize each other, while corporate America takes advantage of the downturn and manipulates the electorate with billions of dollars to cut taxes for the wealthy and cut programs for the rest of us.

There needs to be some clarification. Do the results reflect the voting done on the machines that SEIU services that "Accidentally" had the Reid box checked prior to the voter making his/her selection? You can bet your bottom dollar that if the same "Accident" had occurred involving a non democrat candidate, there would be so much screaming heard.

We The People have two choices on November 2nd:

Vote for the American principles of freedom and liberty, vote for a free market economy, vote for individual responsibility and opportunity - vote Republican.

Vote for the overreaching, overspending, overtaxing, overtly divisive agenda of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.

I keep reading the polls about mad Americans and yet i have not seen one actual FACT that supports this anger at Demcrats or the President.
Nevada- Angle? Really? Why give some real proof of the reson to put an ignorant lunatic in the Senate of Hary Rieid.
To Four and the door – you make statements that have no bases in any facts. Show actual spending reoprts of the 3 Trillion dollars. If Reid has done nothing how could he cause that much damage as one vote in the past 18 months. Conservative hysteria is a fever pitch

If Nevada elects Angle over Harry Reid, it will truly be a triumph for Fox and Koch brothers.

They are responsible for promoting and funding these nutjob candidates who have no ideas and want to replace our country with a third-world nation, controlled by the monied few.

Nevada, wake up! Do you really want Angle and her idiocy representing you in the Senate? Just exactly how is she going to help your state – by eliminating Social Security and Medicare and unemployment benefits? Last time I looked, you have a pretty big retired population ... and when people stop traveling to Vegas and Reno to gamble, how are you going to take care of all your unemployed casino workers (and all those others who rely on legalized gambling and prostitution)?

Think this through, Nevada ... better yet, just THINK!

And then vote for Harry Reid next Tuesday!

The choice on November 2nd it whether or not to turn this country over to the union thugs that are destroying our manufacturing base or to the business owners that invested money, time and effort to build a business that would hire employees. Good luck getting a job from a union guy. No risk equals no reward. Wake up America. The only party concerned about ALL Americans is the Republican party. The Republicans just know you can't GIVE everything to everyone for free to buy votes. Some day it has to be paid for. I understand that is hard to understand for union idiots, but it is true.

Face it all you liberal minded people, no one wants Obama's brand of politics or the screw up Dems. All they are doing is turning this country into a model of western Europe which is really screwed up. Face it the Republicans are going to take this country back, if you do not like it then leave. I am a middle class working person and a proud Southern Republican. Tax and spend Democrats, that is all you can do. Obama is running this country into the ground, creating a huge out of control government. Forcing people to buy insurance like some 3rd world leader. You liberals are to stupid to see it behind your rose color glasses, of course they did not call you all, they want an honest opinion and an educated answer.

Democrats give up the race, screw the base, its time to kick the democrats in the face.
This is a Proud Southern White Republican and I approve this message.

If the results are the same as this poll, one seriously wonders about the voters of Nevada. Their education must be certainly lacking. Maybe some of the dollars earned in the casinos should be pumped into their education system. Her comments are astounding in their play on people's fears, ignorance, etc., etc. She is an insult to the female population. I guess too many Nevadans don't understand English, at least the written word.

Yes, of course she's popular in the rural areas, they only get Fox News. Overall, Nevada voters can't be that ignorant. But if they are, they deserve Angle.

If our friends in Nevada elect Ms. Angle, one must question the competency of the State. Travel to Las Vegas? good luck if this is an example of its citizens.
