Huckabee: Democrats' Pentagon request a sign of desperation

Lancaster, Ohio (CNN) - Democratic officials recently sought information from the Pentagon on nine prominent Republicans who could challenge President Obama in 2012, according to report by ABC News Wednesday.

Among them was Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor who mounted an unsuccessful presidential bid in 2008 but has since remained cagey about whether he plans to abandon a cushy Fox News gig to take another shot at the White House.

Huckabee called the revelation "flattering."

"It's better than it was four years ago when I was an asterisk," Huckabee told CNN Thursday after a campaign appearance in Ohio for Republican gubernatorial nominee John Kasich.

But he also cast the Democratic National Committee's opposition research effort as a sign of desperation as they brace for a "political tsunami" next Tuesday.

"They know they are going to get wiped out next Tuesday," he said. "They wouldn't be looking down the road in two years if they thought that they really had any shot at winning these races next week."

He compared the Obama administration to "parents who kept feeding spinach to their kids when the kids hated it" and said Democrats have given up all hope of moving their agenda forward after next week.

"They have pulled out, they have given up, they have circled the wagons, they are having prayer meetings and closed doors sessions," he said of the Democratic Party. "They are getting out the Kleenex and starting the crying, and they have done it to themselves."

Fat bigots from the south should learn to keep their mouth shut if they can't offer anything constructive.

Very true the failed policies of the statist liberal fascists and neocons have failed and I hope nobody in their right mind plans on putting either back in full control of our government. The answers are right in front of us, prophetic words from Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson about the money powers that have hijacked our nation. Lincoln predicted quite vividly what has happened and he said he wept for his nation. These wise men warned us of the dangers to freedom and liberty presented by central bankers who throughout history have pitted nation against nation setting up conflicts and funding both sides with only the profits in mind. It is time to end the Federal Reserve and return power back from these bankers and their corporate elite and military industrial complex friends to we the people! As Lincoln said the money powers that be will prey upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated into the hands of a few. Look around people that's what is happening! The middle class is dying.

The Democrats just wanted to verify that they were all right wing religious nuts like you and that embarrass those of us Christians who are religious and not crazies! You are all laughable if you think you stand a chance!

How could it be desperation since various members of the Republican party supported, endorsed and crowed over the Patriot Act which is the most unConstitutional law to have come from Washington in the 21st century? They shredded the Constitution, they stole our civil liberties - these people are enemies of the state, yet they haven't been arrested, tried or convicted. It makes plenty of sense that anyone who is considered criminal be vetted even through the Pentagon. If they were willing to allow Bush to run ripshod over the American people, why would they have changed their stripes now?

If that means he's openly admitting the Republicans are the parents who give the kids all the candy they want no matter how bad for him it is, then fine.

(the Obama administration to "parents who kept feeding spinach to their kids when the kids hated it") Isn't spinach good for you and that is why parents feed it to their kids? Just wondering, also, the Bush administration did something very similar prior to the 2004 election. We didn't really hear about it too much due to the Iraq and Afghan wars.

In addition as I said they prey upon us with these divisive issues that both sides tout. The reality is we are given a choice between two heads of the same beast. Different flavors of fascism. How has it become acceptable to have two national parties who basically only care about protecting some rights and not all? This is the scheme Lincoln warned us of. They divide us as we foolishly believe there is a real difference between democrat and republican. They both push the banker agenda dividing and conquering us as the wars continue, our government pushes the corporate agenda, and our freedoms slowly disappear. The real solution is the Constitution, by following it we remove the ability of the money powers to enslave us. Please people just look into it and make up your mind and reconsider the choice some make to call themselves a republican or democrat because it's a game and a very sad one. In 2012 it's Ron Paul or none at all for me!

Don't count your chickens yet Hucklebery. I think that you are spending too much time around the reality challenged teabrain/"Fox the Truth" crowd. You have as much chance of being presidient as being crowned the next Miss Arkansas.

Huckabee you're sounding a little arrogant. Maybe you should hold a prayer meeting for yourself. Gee I once thought of voting for you, glad I changed my mind.

Huckabee does realize that spinach is rich in antioxidants and extraordinarily good for the body, right? Interesting comparison.

I can say one thing for sure, Republicans have been derelict in their duties working for all Americans when the country needed them but they have no problem working to get elected. Republicans are "sunshine patriots".

Did Huckabee just admit that the Democratic policies are good for the country?

"parents who kept feeding spinach to their kids when the kids hated it"

Why do parents feed their kids spinach?

Though I am a life-long Democrat, I "REALLY" like Governor Huckabee. He doesn't mince any words, and unlike President NObama is not always putting his foot in his big mouth. I hate to admit that my fellow Democrats are only reaping what they sowed.

Will this arrogant and egotistic president follow President Clinton's lead? Don't hold your breath. Will he sincerely approach the Republicans who will be in power after November 2nd? Again. don't hold your breath.

If I was one of President NObama's advisors, I would definitely and strongly suggest that he try and approach the victorious Republicans and sincerely offer to work with them. For the good of our country.

All I know is that one term or two terms, Barack Obama made it to the White House and Huckabee, Romey, Palin, McCain and Juliane all ran and at this point are still near-do-wells and have no gurantee to make it. Mr. Obama did – period.

"...parents who kept feeding spinach to their kids when the kids hated it..."

Interesting analogy there, Mike. Let's examine that for a moment.

You know, my parents made me eat a lot of veggies I despised as a kid, yet they knew the veggies were good for me and today I feel my health and growth have been better for eating them. These days, I not only appreciate how nutritious those veggies were, but I even like some of them.

The GOP and Tea Patiers are like the upset child who figured out that he screams and whines enough, the parents just give up and let him do whatever he wants, whether it's good for him or not. It's sad that the GOP and Tea Partiers don't want to try or do anything they just don't like, even if it's for their own good. Because sometimes, we need to do to do things that may not be that enjoyable, but a short time of unpleasantness is a small price to pay for a lifetime of better living.
