CNN Poll of Polls: Obama's approval rating on the rise?
Washington (CNN) –Forty-eight percent of Americans approve of how President Barack Obama is handling his job as president, while 45 percent disapprove of his job performance, according to a CNN Poll of Polls compiled and released on Friday. This Poll of Polls suggests that for the first time this election season, more Americans approve of how Obama is managing his duties in the White House.
This newest edition of the CNN Poll of Polls is an average of four national polls conducted from mid-to-late October: Gallup tracking (10/25-27), Newsweek (10/20-21), CBS/New York Times (10/22-26), and McClatchy-Marist (10/22-25). A new Bloomberg survey did not release a presidential approval rating. The Poll of Polls does not have a sampling error.
The presidential approval question asks respondents if they approve of how the president is handling his job. It is an indicator of Americans' opinion of Obama's job performance and reflects what voters may be considering as they make decisions on Election Day.
Two polls in this Poll of Polls indicate that more Americans approve of Obama's job performance, while two polls suggest that more Americans disapprove of how he is handling his duties. Newsweek and McClatchy-Marist polls reflect that more Americans approve of Obama's job performance than disapprove, compared with a CBS/New York Times survey and the most recent Gallup daily tracking poll, which both indicate that more Americans disapprove of how Obama is handling his White House duties than approve.
The Newsweek poll reports that 54 percent of Americans approve of Obama's job performance while 40 percent disapprove. According to a CBS/New York Times survey, 45 percent approve and 47 percent disapprove of how Obama is handling his job. McClatchy-Marist poll states that 48 percent of Americans approve of the president's performance while 43 percent disapprove, compared with the most recent Gallup daily tracking poll, which indicates that 44 percent of Americans approve and 49 percent disapprove.
The president has been actively campaigning for Democratic candidates running in the midterm elections, but Obama has not been universally embraced by Democratic candidates, some of whom are trying to distance themselves from his agenda, especially regarding the economy. Whether this positive approval rating translates into Democratic wins will be determined in four days, on Election Day.

His approval ratings are higher than Reagan's were in this time in his Presidency, approx the same. Also about the same as Clinton's was too. People need to look at these ratings in context.
Every time he challenge republicans his rating goes up . Democrats are up set because Obama and congress watching do nothing when tea party and GOP hammering heath care bill
Of course we approve of Presiddent Obama and the job he is doing. The republican tea party has sane Americans afraid of
what will happen to our country if they are in control.
This same 30-40% that disapprove are the same group that always has and always will disapprove of the President: Republicans, Teabags, Extremists, birthers , right wingnuts ,etc. Thank goodness rational Americans that approve of President Obama outnumber them. Otherwise this country would go to pots.

President Obama has proven he is no "sunshine patriot", you work for your country in good and bad times. Can't say that for Republicans. Republicans are working real hard to get elected but failed their oath of office pledge upon the Bible that they would work for all Americans. Republicans have been derelict in their duties unlike our military men and women who serve in good and bad times for all Americans.
This just proves that 48% of the voters have NEVER taken an Economics course and don't understand just how terribly the Obama policies have KILLED our economy!! For those of you who believe Obama is doing a good job just be honest with yourself – admit that you NEVER took an Economics course and have NO IDEA how an economy works. You have no way to dispute this so will call us Republicans names, repeat the Obama analogy of "Republicans drove the economy in the ditch and now they want the keys back.......", etc. even though you have no CLUE what you are talking about. You can't think for yourself but can only repeat what the Democrats want you to say. Don't you realize what an unintelligent fool you portray yourself to be?
My suggestion: register at your local community college and in the next year take Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Then a year from now let's have this debate again. You will be AMAZED how much better you can discuss the economy AFTER your eyes open!! I feel so very sorry for the 48% who support Obama. You are laughed at and look like a fool by those of us that actually UNDERSTAND how Obama is using you since you have no way to think for yourself.......

CNN up to your old bias tricks again! You average a whopping 4 polls together, one of which (Newsweek) is more than double-digits out-of-whack with ANY other approval poll, then try to claim there is some kind of trend in Obama's favor. The real story is that the Newsweek bunch are apparently the folks who have been smoking pot in the Giants stadium at the World Series, judging by the result of their "poll", which is clearly just an attempt to manipulate opinion rather than report it.
What a bunch of crap! These polls are nowhere close to how American's feel about Obama. This isn't 2008, when we didn't know how lame Obama was. Now that he actually has a record, it can be proven how worthess he is as president. These polls will fool some of the idiots...but they were probably going to vote for Obama anyway (as soon as they find out who's giving out the best gift cards for their vote).
Newsweek, purchase from the Wasington Post for $1 by a democrat congresswoman's husband, has had their ridiculous poll discounted. That CNN took this poll over more reliable polls is indicative of their bias.
This is to funny, yesterday a national poll not a CNN poll showed obama's favorable rating at 37 percent.
I'm not at all surprised to hear that the presidents approval rating is on the rise – he's definitely been the adult in the room compared to the republican legislators who have been balling their fists and stomping their feet yelling that they will not compromise. What a childish reaction – adults discuss, negotiate and compromise – that's the art of politics. The republicans have been acting like petulant 7 year olds. The idiotic candidates the republicans/tea baggers have fielded are also laughable. Many are running as consitutionalist, but have proved that they don't have a clue of what the constitution actually contains. O'donnell, Buck, paul – and that hypocrit miller that deems unemployment unconstitutional – but only for others. Government subsidies – unconstitutional – except for him and his family. Medicaid – also unconstitutional, except when he was using it for his kids.
Yes, there's a stark contrast this election. We can elect adults who clearly want to build a better america – or we can elect petulant children that will throw tantrums if they don't get their way – and who are looking to move this country backward with regressive legislation. The choice is very clear.
CNN and every other news agency is reporting poll after poll. Funny, I have been a registered voter and voted in almost every election for the last 43 years and have never been asked to take part in a legitimate poll. Makes me doubt that polling is really a good cross section of Americans and can be bent in any direction in an attempt to sway voters.
What would your approval rating if an entire network & gop was sprouting lies & negativity 24 hours a day, everyday, what has gone on these last 21 months is something I'd never thought I'd see in this country, it's been very hurtful to watch. Its because of those few days the President got out of the white house and spoke straight to the American people!!. The problem with him and other Democrats is simple, you have to "drag them out of the white house screaming and kicking" to share the ideas of how they have solved various difficult problems facing our Nation during the recession.
The Republican Party has been on a campaign for nearly two years. Their only goal is to discredit and distroy this President. They could not care less about the good of the American people. This Country has been divided because of this. The hatefulness and disrepectfulness directed at President Obama and the office of the President is also disrespecting the American People and our Country. All of the World is watching. Many of the comments on these posts sound like drunks arguing Religion and Politics in a bar and those people using the anononimity of this avenue are becoming bullies.
We all need to take the higher road and stand behind our Country and our President.
Looks the left leaning Newsweek poll has some problems that they are the only one showing approval at 54%? Would like to know the specifics of all of these polls that would show how many democrats were polled compared to republicans and independents. These have been biased towards the dems in the past.
