Obama plans 'Slurpee summit' with dinner
Washington (CNN) - President Obama is readying for what the news media are now calling the "Slurpee summit." Following a post-election sit-down with his Cabinet Thursday, President Obama said he called Republican leaders Rep. John Boehner and Sen. Mitch McConnell, and Democratic leaders Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid to come to the White House November 18th - at the start of the congressional "lame duck" session - for talks.
The President said the discussions would be substantive, not "just a photo-op." White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the get together will be a mix of getting down to business, as well as a social occasion. The group will discuss legislative items in a working session at the White House, but then have dinner in the Obama's private residence upstairs. It will be a congressional party of eight, including House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer and Senate Majority Leader Sen. Dick Durbin, Republican House Whip Rep. Eric Cantor and Senate Republican Whip Sen. Jon Kyl. Gibbs said the bipartisan summit would be "the first of many" efforts to get the White House and Republicans on the same page.
One of the issues that "will take up a big chunk" of the bipartisan session, Gibbs said, is taking action to extend the Bush tax cuts, set to expire by the end of the year. Some Republicans are lobbying the White House for a two year extension of the tax cuts for everyone, not just for families making less than $250,000 a year as Mr. Obama favors. Gibbs said the President "would be open to that discussion."
Gibbs also said the President would be open to serving Slurpees for dessert.
Please Mr President have reporters at the whole event. Make sure Fox news is represented as well as reporters from Press and other outlets.

Mr. President stay the course! You've ALWAYS been open to input from anyone that had viable ideas to help our country. If there is a lesson to be learned from this past Tuesday is that Americans have a very short retention span. Based on the immediate comments made by Boo-Hoo Boehner, and Mitch you should have NO DOUBT what their agenda has been and still is: to see you, and by default, the country fail. So nothing much has changed sir, except that America will be reminded, at a very steep price, why they elected YOU and not one of their jokers.
Do not hold your breath for a more patriotic and cooperative GObP. Keep your eyes open. And do not forget that for the Rethugs it is NOT about helping the country recover, but dissasembling, and setting you back.
I pray that I am wrong. However, everything they've said since Tuesday does not lead me to think that I am.
Instead of the "Slurpee Summit" it should be called the "Crow Conference" where crow will be served up warm to the arrogant Obozo, Reid and Pelosi. Compliments of the American people! ENJOY!!!
Do not extend the faIled Bush Tax Cuts. The cuts have done nothing to help job growth, and have only added to our national debt. There are job initiatives that could get our country moving, but the only job growth republicans are interested in is in China.
Now that republicans will take over the house in January, I wonder how soon they will vote to invade Iran for our next unfunded war.

goal is to "make sure that you're one term" as Mitch stated. After all, you're still President of the United States despite their
"taking back government" victory on Tuesday. I guess they don't consider their primary goal met. So their further obstruction should be there for public observation.
It would be right on par for him to serve Slurppies for dessert. Just like his imbecile gift of DVD's to Gordon Brown, Obama proves again that he lacks the common sense needed to be President of this floundering nation. It would be nice if he would learn some manners and put them into practice.

It is my hope he do not go overboard when it comes to Boehner and McConnell just because they won control of the house. He is President and they have never cooperated with him, not once! Please Mr. President don't allow these two to make you look weak!
