Palin’s Twitter controversy

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin caused a bit of a stir Thursday when a tweet from conservative commentator Ann Coulter appeared on a list of her account’s favorite tweets.

The tweet showed a picture of a sign outside “The Blood of Jesus ATLAH World Missionary Church” in New York. The sign read: “The blood of Jesus against Obama history made 4 Nov 2008 a Taliban Muslim illegally elected president USA:Hussein.”

The tweet has since been removed from Palin’s Twitter account.

Coulter originally re-tweeted the item from the account of liberal commentator Marc Lamont Hill. The two often appear on television together.

After the Palin camp was reached for comment, it referred CNN to a statement given to ABC’s Jake Tapper.

“I've never purposefully ‘favorited’ any tweet. I had to go back to my BlackBerry to even see if such a function was possible. I was traveling to Alaska that day...it was an obvious accidental ‘favoriting,’ but no one can mistake that Ann Coulter was obviously being tongue in cheek with that tweet,” Palin said in the statement. “Shall I correct this with whichever wonderful media outlet ran with this (an obviously bored reporter...since there must be nothing going on in the world today, like, um, ramifications of a shake up of power in the U.S. House of Representatives?).”

Lamont Hill appeared on CNN’s AC360 Thursday and said the original tweet was a joke directed toward Ann Coulter because of their impression of the church’s pastor, James Manning.

“We make jokes about Pastor Manning,” Hill told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “I took a picture and sent it to her because the sign was obviously absurd.”

Palin has used her Facebook and Twitter accounts throughout the midterm election season to endorse and promote candidates across the country.

This woman tweets and Facebooks constantly and she expects us to believe that she didn't know about the "favorites" list. I don't have a twitter account and I know about the "favorites" list. Either she purposely added it to her list and she thinks we're all dumb enough to accept her excuse, or she's not clever enough to work her blackberry. People think she's qualified to be POTUS and have her "finger on the button" but she can't seem to grasp the intricate workings Twitter. Give me a break!

Ummmm, not buying it. This is a CYA moment if ever there was one, but who would have thought that Palin would lie about something?

And this woman thinks she will ever be president of the US. She has a dark heart and anybody who thinks different is not living in the real world. She hides behind christianality to say and do anything she pleases. She is plain and simple a hateful person and divisive person!

I guess the "lame-stream media" has exposed, yet again, lame Palin's obsessive insinuation that Obama is a Muslim! This woman needs to be silenced....she is as bad as her shock jock buddy Rush Limbaugh with her fanatical ramblings!
Maybe she should go visit Bristol on the set of DWTS and school her grown kid on the meaning of voting in elections and stick to topics that she can fake her way through. She totally disgusts me and I hope by 2012 she has embarrassed herself so much that even she realizes how much America truly despises her!

I watched AC360 last night–apparently, Lamont Hill sent the tweet to Coulter as part of an inside joke (which Palin wasn't a part of...). Coulter retweeted the picture with the caption "My New Church!" Then Palin "favorited" the picture (as she had favorited several other posts). Once she started getting flack, she removed the favorited pic AND removed any other posts she had favorited, then said she didn't know how to "favorite" a post and it was obviously accidental.

    C'mon, CNN–tell the whole story!

Yeah it was just a mistake.....lol Who are you trying to kid. Palin thought Coulter was serious and favorited it. Admit it Ms Palin, you did it knowingly. Hidding behind a "keyboard error" is ridiculous.

Be careful what you wish for America; this is the level of intelligence you've elected. I weep for my country. If she's too stupid to use her Blackberry why would you take her opinion on anything else?

An accidental favoriting...anyone buy that load of crap? By the way, while this group of yahoos continue to share tweets and make nonsense facebook posts, our president's policies created jobs. Here's a quote from CNN Money this morning, "Businesses continued to hire for the tenth month in a row." Facts tend to win over lies and smear campaigns. Bring on 2012, and please run Sarah!

I grow ever more tired of Palin's misuse of the English language. Since when is "favorited" a word? Please, idiot Sarah, just go away.

And we should be surprised WHY? Ann Coulter seems to think that outrageous lies will keep her "relevant" and Ms. Palin wouldn't know an independent thought if it bit her on her backside.

Here we go again, talking out the side of her neck.. Its a shame that people like her and others want God to Bless them but they continue to treat others the way they do. Evil towards evil and display it publicly.. Its a shame..

As usual, Palin wants it both ways. News flash, Miss Wasilla: you can't embrace the national spotlight when the news is putatively good, and then cravenly push it away when things don't break in your favor. Either you're a national figure or you're not, and either way, you have to deal with the consequences. Regrettably, you are a national figure, and you will deservedly receive attention for everything that you do or say, however suspect. Deal with it.

She does not read newspapers and can't understand how a blackberry works great republican/ Tea Party credentials for a run at the Whitehouse. For someone who is afraid to speak in public when there are questions asked that she has no clue how to answer, you would think she would have learned by now how to use a Blackberry since she runs her entire life off of Blackberry and twitter. Since John McCain claims to have invented the Blackberry she shoulkd ask the old washed up man how it works. Sarah Screech Palin is the most embarrasing person alive today, she made a victory video for herself when all of her big guns lost their elections. I bet she sends birthday cards to herself too !
