(CNN) - Jeb Bush for president isn't happening – at least in 2012, according to his older ex-president brother.
Though many White House aspirants fend off early questions about running for the Oval Office, former President George Bush says "no" means "no" when it comes to his brother.
"I wish he would," the former president told Fox News. "He has to run first. And he has made it clear he is not running in 2012. And when the man says, 'I'm not running,' he means it. I wish he would run."
Still, talk of a potential Jeb Bush run has increased in Beltway circles as the former president's popularity is on the rise and the Bush name no longer carries the toxic political baggage it once did. And that's keeping political analysts speculating 2012 may be a ripe year for the younger Bush to take on the man who suceeded his brother.
"The person I'm keeping my eye on, and I would have never said this two years ago, but someone who could unite the factions of the party, Jeb Bush," said David Gergen, a CNN contributor.
Sure he isn't running, never say never, the Republican/Tea Party part of the electorate have short memories. If he can't run it will be because Dubya:
1. You've made it difficult for anyone named Bush toget elected dog catcher.
2. He will never live down the shenigans of the 2000 election. "My brother, Jeb told methere was nothing to worry about". How would he know this before the re-count?
3. Jeb's family drama will do him in, from the non-duty tax paying wife, the drug addict daughter who writes her own subscriptions, and the Breaking and Entering son named after grandpa. There is still a year left for Jeb to change his name & get a trophy wife.
Sniffit.... Just want to comment on your comments.....right on guy! I find i'm usually watching for yours.!!!!!!AS TO MR. BUSH .....YOU HAVE MY MOST SINCERE THANKS AND MY UNDYING AFFECTION!!!!!!!!!!
!.
When did the Presidency become The Bush Family Private Foundation. The Nation took care of the family screwup for 8 years, that's enough.
If there's really a God, don't let this happen. All we need is a 3rd Bush as President. Of course, then there's his son, George, also poised as a rising GOP star in Texas. Scarry isn't it?
I dont know what color the sky is in your world but this Nations interest in another Bush becoming President and that we have suddenly forgotten GW is flat out about as inaccurate as it gets.
Do you think we are this stupid and uninofrmed that you can dole this garbage out and tell us its ice cream?
The definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result"
I would not vote for another Bush......the Bush's tell us that they are staunch conservatives until they get into office then they govern as liberals so I would never vote for another Bush.....well, unless he was running against Barry Obama, also known as: The Worst President Ever.
you are all a bunch of losers like Obama
Just what the founding fathers envisioned, the office of the presidency controlled by rich families. So after Jeb then Bush's daughter's and then some uncle we've never heard of. There should be a constitutional limit on how many family members can be elected to this office, and 2 was clearly enough.
"Obama is doing a very good job as President."
HAHAHA . . . just as funny as "the Bush name no longer carries the toxic political baggage."
Personally, I've always felt Jeb was the "smart one" of the two. I also think he would have been a better president than his brother. However, with the baggage with his family name, plus I'm not sure people want to or should make a habit of creating/following/voting for political dynasties just make him an unlikely choice for quite a many years to come.
He doesn't want to hear my big wish. Seriously, we don't need to add to the Bush dynasty, the country couldn't take it..
I always thought Jeb was the one with brains until, unlike his brother, he endorsed what's her face for president.
I do not agree with 99.9% of anything bush did or said, but I do admire him for having the cojones to tell what's her face (won't be recognized in a few years) that she's not capable of being president. This from somebody who should know.
Gergen is a Trojan horse. If he thinks Jeb Bush is a good idea probably isn't.
Any serious student of the left or the right politically knows that Jeb Bush would be a formidable candidate. David Gergen has served both Democratic and Republican Presidents and I think he understands a little better than most that Jeb would be very tough to be beat. His wife is Hispanic and he did a great job as Governor of a state Florida that liberal Democrats have to win to carry the White House, because as Nancy Pelosi recently said after the election " we as a party only do well on the coasts.and in selected Big cities."
THANK GOD!!
This is exactly what this country does NOT need..another Bush..are they that stupid..wait..never mind!
WOOOOO WHOOOOOOO Americans will never take another moron Bush in the White House.
All the Ex President has to do now ...........is continue to be secluded in his ranch, that's a great place for him! Maybe he can look for the Weapons of Mass Destruction in his ranch, he'll be keeping himself very busy there, keep looking for them Mr. President, keep looking for the WMD
