House seeks to extend jobless benefits

New York (CNNMoney.com) - The unemployed would have three more months to file for extended jobless benefits under a bill being introduced in the House.

The legislation would extend the deadline to file for federal unemployment benefits to Feb. 28, sparing 4 million people from falling off the rolls. The deadline is now Nov. 30.

Extend them while you can because once Bonehead takes over he's not going to help the jobless.

I don't see why my tax dollars should go to help a bunch of lazy people looking for a handout! The unemployed need to grow up and get a job! Have a nice day!

I still don't believe someone cannot get a job in this long a period of time. You might have to take a job you are over qualified for, or one you don't even want to do, but to provide for your family, you have to do what you must. Living off the working people is absolutely unfair.

While we mock Palin and state that Fox 'news' isn't news at all
While we call the GOP the party of NO as they apologize to corporations who ruin our environment
while the republicans foster a politcal climate of hate and ignorance.
After the GOP economic policies caused a GLOBAL FINANCIAL MELTDOWN and left us on the brink of ANOTHER GREAT DEPRESSION
THE REPUBLICANS CONVINCED ENOUGH PEOPLE TO WIN THE HOUSE AND MAKE GAINS IN THE SENATE.
They successfully watered down healthcare reform and financial reform with LIES!
YES PALIN COULD BEAT OBAMA IN 2012 AND WE WILL BE RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED.
The Lies are beating the truth

there you go again thinking Unemployment Insurance is a HANDOUT - it's INSURANCE, stupid! We PAY for it when we're working to cover when we're not.

Bush sent millions of our jobs overseas. We have money for wars, millions of illegals, tax breaks for big business, so why can't we help the people who lost their jobs, through no fault of their own. It's a proven fact that joblessness, is going to be a problem for years to come. It doesn't matter, if you have a college degree, or not. Whatever help these people get, will only be temporary.

This is a jobless recovery – these jobs will only come back after years of 3% GDP growth. In the meantime, we cannot afford to continue to pay people for not working. Many of those on unemployment could find lower-paying jobs, but they would rather hold out for their original salaries, since their unemployment benefits are based on what they used to make. It sounds harsh, but we need to ease people off state support, or we will go broke.

When the greedy run this country like they are following muslim law then we all can forget about the golden rule====do unto others as you have them do unto you. Greed has become the new god of this country. Those who preach get a job when no one is hiring that is sad.
I was on vacation about month ago and I went into some fast food restaurants and some of them had one cashier that took the order and then had to help fill with several people waiting to give their orders. This was not a one time thing it happened several times during the little over a week that I was on vacation. It did not happen in a given area it was all across this country as we traveled. When those who advocate to someone else to get a job, when even the fast food restaurants are not hiring, where are they going to work====maybe they should look at the label on every item they buy and see who is making it-China, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan and other countries. Maybe you should leave these items on the shelf and tell the manager when he gets some American goods on the shelf you will be back–I do.
