Could Palin beat Obama?

(CNN) - In a yet to be aired interview, Sarah Palin said she believes it would be possible for her to beat President Obama if she ran for President.

During an interview for an upcoming Barbara Walters special, Palin said "I believe so," when Walters asked Palin "If you ran for president, could you beat Barack Obama?"

"I'm looking at the lay of the land now, and ... trying to figure that out, if it's a good thing for the country, for the discourse, for my family, if it's a good thing," Palin said.

Palin appears to be inching the ball ever slightly toward acknowledging she is seriously thinking about running for president next year.

In a lengthy interview for a profile in this weekend's New York Times magazine, the former Alaska governor flatly said she is considering launching a White House bid and is currently in discussions about the possibility with her family and trusted allies.

"I'm engaged in the internal deliberations candidly, and having that discussion with my family, because my family is the most important consideration here," she said in the interview with journalist Robert Draper, now posted on the New York Times Web site.

Palin - who currently operates with only a handful aides, most of whom have little experience running a national campaign – also said she might need to bring more strategists into her fold to help communicate her record.

"'I'd have to bring in more people - more people who are trustworthy. I know that a hurdle I would have to cross, that some other potential candidates wouldn't have to cross right out of the chute, is proving my record," she said. "That's the most frustrating thing for me – the warped and perverted description of my record and what I've accomplished over the last two decades."

But Palin, who famously clashed with some of Sen. John McCain's top aides when she was the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, made clear it won't be easy for political strategists to step foot in Palin's world:

"What Todd and I learned was that the view inside the bus was much better than underneath it, and we knew we got thrown under it by certain aides who weren't principled," she said, adding "the experience taught us, yes, to be on guard and be very discerning about who we can and can't trust in the political arena."

Palin, as has long been the case, also directed fire toward members of the media for distorting her record – a challenge, she said, that must be overcome if she runs for president.

"Other candidates haven't faced these criticisms the way I have," she said. "I'm on television nearly every single day with reporters ... Now granted, that's mainly through my job at Fox News, and I'm very proud to be associated with them, but I'm not avoiding anything or anybody. I'm on Facebook and Twitter. I'm out there. I want to talk about my record, though."

Palin added that she "fears for our democracy" given the state of the news media, saying sarcastically of news organizations: "They're the elite…they know much more than I know and other people like me!"

An elegant illustration of the fact that there are some people in life who's sole existence is to serve as a warning to others.

She was a part time mayor of a town of 11,0000 people and she jacked up its Budget.

She was a half-term governor of a state with the SMALLEST population ... half-term because SHE QUIT. It`s not doing so hot right now so she really didn`t leave it well situated.

She has no RECORD to run on.

Hell she couldn`t even sway 1/3 of Alaska`s voters to get behind her Senate candidate, Joe Miller.

This woman has no juice. She is politically frigid / impotent.

And to think that her daughter Bristol's "campaign" on "Dancing with the Stars" is Sarah's mini-sampling of who might vote for her as our next prezident! How clever!

Sarah Palin has found a nice niche as a celebrity spokesperson but I don't believe she even close to the intellect of Newt Gingrich when it comes to policy, history, the world etc. Let's don't get caught up in this. Let's get someone with real smarts and a real ability to lead...Sarah can get a talkshow. And she's hard to listen to, so shrill.

Ye gods she hasn't even declared she's running but has already started whining about intrigues and plots against her. How have we allowed such an obviously delusional paranoid to be taken seriously? Answer: because we're star-struck Americans who value a pretty face higher than a viable intellect.

"because my family is the most important consideration here,"

"also said she might need to bring more strategists into her fold to help communicate her record."

Has your family been important as you have stayed way past your 15 minutes? Seems like we see you in the press everywhere, how is it that your family is so important if you spend so much time devoting yourself to other limelight things?

What record? That you quit from elected office because it was obviously more lucrative?

Anyone is free to run for President and I, for one, welcome her to throw her hat into the ring. She can join the ranks of Schmitz, Lyndon LaRouche, and Lee Mercer, Jr: hilarious footnotes of presidential wannabe failures. She can take prank calls from radio DJs pretending to be world leaders, invent more fake vocabulary words, talk about how she can see Spain from France... it will make the first part of the presidential race tolerable while we figure out who te real candidates should be.

NO. NO. NO. THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE. YOU ARE SUCH AN EGO-MANIACAL NUTCASE! You and all your goons, no matter the party, do not care about us! You care about the limelight. How do you honestly expect people to respect you as a politician, A LEADER, when you have your own reality show?!?!?! What's next Sarah, a sex tape? A fake marriage for your daughter? A slue of books likening yourself to a prophet?!?! STOP. STOP MISUSING US! WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. YOU HAVE A FAMILY, A BIG FAMILY, AND WANT TO BE PRESIDENT?!?! YOU WOULD RATHER BE PRESIDENT THEN GIVE THOSE KIDS A RIGHTFUL UPBRINGING?!?! The only thing you have to offer is more arrogance, the sinful amount of ignorance you labor under and the horrifying poor and oddly misogynistic example you set for women, an example that has only pushed women back in the eyes of men, for there really could not be a DUMBER, a more NONSENSICAL woman in the public eye than you. GO. AWAY.

This woman just won't go away. She's determined to be the laughing stock of the world and the sad part is shehas allot of people hanging on every word she says. If she actually does run she wouldn't survive the first GOP primary debate. Palin would be exposed for the true fraud she is.

this woman is nothing but an immature, narcissistic, uneducated egomaniac. we would certainly prove how ignorant a nation we are if she comes anywhere near the white house. hopefully the reps will prove during campaigning and debating for 2012 that they know how to eat their young better than anyone, and she'd be the first to be hung out to dry...

    2. Was picked as VP candidate in '08, but was an embarassement from the start and was quickly hidden.
    3. Wants Tax cuts for everyone, but cannot explain how to pay for them, oh wait the trickle down theory.
    4. Wants smaller government, but cannot explain what she would cut, oh wait "obamacare"
    5. Believes in creationism and thinks that evolution is only a Theory.
    6. Believes that the solution to our energy problem is to "drill baby drill". No there is no global warming.
    7. Is a none fit mother by not educating her underage daughter on pregnancy.
    8. Her husband is part of a group that wants Alaska to suceed from the union, oh wait he quit when she was selected as VP.
    9. Is a mean spirted divisive person that follows the party line of fear and smear, oh wait, she is a Mavrick.

Yes please run, and please let the Republican sheep select her for the Republican ticket. Obama will shred her and be easily elected to a 2nd term.

The press knows more than she does? A knat knows more than she does.

Frankly, i want the elite to lead: if someone is missing all but two of their teeth and drink from the faucet, I sure as heck don't want them negotiating a nuclear arms or free trade agreement......sheesh!

I can't get over that she thinks "the media" knows more than she does......hey! remember..she quit her job that the electorate voted her in to do! So i guess she will think the Presidency is hard too and quit....she better pick an elite running mate!

There is not a snowball's chance that Palin, or Gingrich for that matter, could ever be elected President.

The Republicans really better sort this out as they don't really seem to have a good candidate.

Jindahl is absurd as the rebuttal speech hangs over him like a long dark cloud.

Pawlenty comes off like a well intentioned, but exceedingly dull guy.

Rick Santorum - ok I just threw this one in here to point out this guy could well be the biggest tool on planet earth.

Romney, the Governor of MA, would make a great centrist candidate. Unfortunately, he threw it all away with his behavior during the 2008 primaries.

So that takes us to probably the most electable guy the Republicans have......a fellow by the name of Bush.

The Dems will probably make the enormous blunder of trying to associate Jeb with his brother's failures and that will completely blow up in their faces.

Take it to the bank, Jeb Bush is our next President.
