TRENDING: Palin won't 'waste time' on Couric

(CNN) – If Sarah Palin does run for president next year, at least one high profile journalist will be forbidden access to the former Alaska governor.

Speaking to Fox New's Sean Hannity in an interview to air Monday, Palin said she wants nothing to do with Katie Couric, the CBS Evening News anchor who's line of questioning facilitated one of the most memorable political foibles of the 2008 presidential campaign.

"As for doing an interview, though, with a reporter who already has such a bias against whatever it is that I would come out and say? Why waste my time? No," Palin told Hannity of Couric, according to excerpts obtained by Time's Mark Halperin.

"I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism. And I have a communications degree. I studied journalism, who, what, where, when, and why of reporting," Palin continued. "I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of our democracy, that expectation that the public has for truth to be reported. And then we get to decide our own opinion based on the facts reported to us."

In a series of interviews with Couric authorized by the McCain campaign, Palin stumbled over a number of questions, most memorably when asked, "When it comes to establishing your world view…what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read?"

Palin appeared unable to name a single publication – a performance for which she was much maligned - and later said she found the question insulting, as well as emblematic of a liberal slant in the mainstream media.

"So a journalist, a reporter who is so biased and will, no doubt, spin and gin up whatever it is that I have to say to create controversy, I swear to you, I will not my waste my time with her. Or him," she told Hannity in the interview Monday.

Funny how most of you liberals go at Palin with extreme viger but you refuse to question and to admit your lier of a president (who was most likely born on foregion soil and )has claimed to be the most transparent presidency but is actually the darkest cloked administration in the HISTORY of America has hidden everything about himself and has spen MILLIONS of our dollars to hide his pathetic self from True blooded Americans but you still continue to Feed on his lines of BS and dark agenda. I never said Sara was smart but at least she's honest and you know where she is from and what she stands for Obama has lied about every little thing he could and you liberal sheep keep eating his crap. Too bad liberals/Democrats are too stupid to question their leaders. its no wonder America is failing and behind most countries in every catagory in the World. Sad little puppits

Palin is apparently dumb enough not to have a clue about her ignorance. It's really bad that so many Americans think she's presidential material. Shows how low our culture has been sinking. Very sad.

Well, we have two years of Foxaganda trying to make us believe this woman is Presidential material. Fox News – Dividing Ameria 24/7. It is my opinion that the propaganda from Fox News is the root of the polarization sweeping the United States. We should watch Fox News long enough to identify twenty advertisers and notify them that we will no longer be purchasing their products.

She walk among us......... but that doesn't mean we have to vote for her. I personally hope she runs in 2012. Obama will eat her lunch during the debates, if she isn't scared of them too!

I am terrified of this woman. Terrified as a moderate voter that could vote for a Republican or Democrat depending on who is running. I am afraid that there are enough people out there who believe the soundbites and one liners.

It is true that Sarah Palin does not have the knowledge to be president but nobody else does either, including the current president.

Sarah Palin is right about Katie Couric. Couric should have known better than to ask questions of a child about the newspapers and magazines they read. It was embarassing for Couric to question Palin like that. We all know it is no ones business that Palin can't read. We should all know just how embarassing it has been to her when the American people began to understand that she can't compose a straight sentence. She is no better today. She says, "I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism". Go figure. That woman is an IDIOT.

Okay, not a fan of Palin but less of a fan of Couric. She's a hack and substandard reporter at best.

Of course. Kattie Couric exposed her for the moron that she is. I really wish that somebody like Couric would come forward and tell us how really stupid this retard from Alaska is since she did one of the only non Fox interviews of her other than Charlie Gibson.

Sarah Palin is in it for the money only. She will not run for President. If she keeps talking about it, the media will cover it and therefore she will get more money and stay in the media. Katie Couric did an outstanding job in interviewing her trying to be too careful for me. This woman is a nut case and is deserving of the scruntiny she's getting. She's not serious because she knows she knows nothing about nothing!!!!!

    November 22, 2010 04:26 pm at 4:26 pm |

"I studied journalism, who, what, where, when, and why of reporting," Palin continued. "I will speak to reporters who still understand that ......"

Half Gov. Palin seems to have forgotten that who, what, where, when, and why was all she was asked! She may have studied journalism but certainly not English, forming a sentence into a complete thought. If she did study journalism she's forgotten what ever she learned, you betcha. This woman is a joke who has been on a mission to dumb down America (to her level) and it's sad to say that she is succeeding. Her loyal followers never fact check anything she says so they just blindly follow. Sad, sad, sad.

Is there even one intelligent and honest person in this nation who could not tell you which publications they read regularly? No. That means she's either unintelligent, dishonest, or both. She's at least dishonest in characterizing a clear softball question as hardball. Yeah, that Katie Couric, she's a real tough interview...

Jeff, Alabama, either you're lying or haven't bothered to confirm some Fox BS excuse for Palin blowing the interview. Here is the exact quote from the transcript of the Couric/Palin "newspaper" interview: "And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?" This simple and direct question would only be a "gotcha" if asked of someone who hadn't relied on ANY newspapers, magazines or journals in formulated a their view of the world outside their own village. And how could Couric know that? In other words, I think, if anything, Couric was giving her a chance to show some gravitas.

But I have two questions for you. Glenn Beck asked her a similar question about the Founding Fathers, and she gave him the same answer she gave Couric: "All of them." Was Beck asking her a "gotcha" question? And did she answer the way she did because she thought it was a stupid question (her excuse for the way she answered Couric).

Thanks for bringing up Barbara Bush "As for Katie Couric, I have no respectfor her because of the disrespectful
way she talked to Barbara Bush in1990", jeff, alabama. I see that former 1st Lady, Barbara Bush recently told America on Larry King that she wishes Sarah Palin would stay in Alaska. I couldn't agree more. (But, by your reasoning, it was probably a "trick question".)

I see some comments on here are siding with katie couric and trashing palin because of her response. I'm independent, so i could care less either way. But it shows how biased some of you are because there's a generational divide when it comes to sources of information. newspapers and magazines are old school and their time has come and gone. By the time the news hits either one of these media, the 24-hour news cycle has already moved on to the next crisis or hot topic. So the question could also be flipped against Couric for sounding out of touch with informational realities. So let's just say it was a stupid question and a dumbfounded reply and call it a draw.

And this brain-dead, thin-skinned, nasty woman (to be clear, I refer to Palin, not Couric) is the idol of millions of Americans. How low we have fallen.

Vote for Sarah Palin for President in 2012. She has the experience and is 100% right on the issues. Bring back freedom and prosperity that has been missing since 2008. On November 2012 President Obama you are fired.

How presidential of her. Talking trash about a newscaster. That is below someone seeking the highest office in the land, but nothing is below Sarah Palin.

This goes to show Palin is a media creation and not a legitimate candidate. Having a cult of personality is not the same as having qualifications to be a presidential candidate. This is a danger when popularity outweights qualifications and sincerity.
Palin has become a waste of public conciousness. We need to create a website called "Pull the plug on Palin"

@ harvey 60 ... "you're just plain stupid, and the polls show it."
You just summed up the liberal mindset in one simple sentence. You are basing your facts on polls for something that isn't measurable by polls. I guess truth for you changes as often as public opinion does.

"stick to what you know best, shooting wolves with an automatic weapon from a helicopter. hope you crash."
So instead of debating ideas with people you differ with, you actually wish for their death. You are a sad sad lot.

It amazes me how many democraps come out of the wood work and from under the rocks to bash her. Scared is more likely because people really like her. The media still spinning away. You kool aid drinkers got the change you wanted but didnot realise he did meant change as in small change. This one term president thank you has done more to set the democraps back. Better hurry and get the borders open to help in 2012 election.

Couric is a joke. She has always been a hit job liberal masqerading as a journalist. I could care less about Palin as a candidate but any Republican know Couric is a partisan. I quit watching the Today show years ago it as so bad. They lost more market share than MSNBC will ever have in primtime in the evening.

Wow, Mamma Grizzly scared of perky little Katie Couric and her hard questions like what do you read. Please Sarah do us all a favor and tell those old Republican donors how much it will take for you not to play spoiler. Like any good professional I'm sure you have a number in mind, lets not spend 2011 haggling. Movie Star Mitt is waiting his turn in the big chair.
