GOPer 'considering' an Obama challenge

(CNN) – Another Republican has voiced interest in challenging President Obama for the White House in 2012.

John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Sunday he's "considering" a run.

"Yes, I am considering it," Bolton told conservative radio show host Aaron Klein's on WABC in New York. "If I did run, and I haven't made a decision, I have never run for office one way or the other, so it would be a pretty big decision to do it."

Bolton, who serves as a Fox News commentator, said he's concerned that the national discourse does not include talk of foreign policy.

"I'm very concerned about the direction of national security policy," Bolton said. "I'm concerned that we hardly talk about it at national-level debates in the mainstream media."

He also said the president seems to view national security issues as an "irritation, a distraction from what his real priorities are."

In the interview Bolton said Obama "doesn't enjoy being commander-in-chief," and that it's important the Republican Party nominate a strong candidate because the president "gives a pretty good speech."

"It's important to be able to take him on intellectually and at a policy level in a very direct way, and that's one of the things I'll be considering," Bolton said.

Bolton served as the under secretary of state for arms control and international security in the George W. Bush administration before he was appointed to the U.N. position and is currently a senior fellow at the conservative American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy in Washington.

While I have never been a Bolton fan, at least he can hold a conversation on policy. He probably can't get elected with his hawkish views and his disdain for the UN, which made him a great fit for the Bush administration. I would love to see the debate between Bolton and Palin. Boring policy wonk vs. Patriotic cliche machine.

Oh great, another nut thinking of running for the Presidendy. If these people would spend some time helping to get this country back on the right track instead of spending all their time raising money and thinking of different ways to bring down Obama, we might have a change of turning things around. From day one, the game has been to bring down the President, no matter how much this nation suffers from their stupidity. I am a white woman, 66 years old and I find it really disturbing that a bunch of white men in Washington cannot stand the idea of a man of color running this country. This is the main reason for all the attacks, all the NO votes etc. and no one can make me think otherwise. How sad that this country has come to this.

John Bolton would be worse than Sarah Palin as President. He is the worst sort of political extremist. Fortunately, he hasn't a prayer of ever getting elected.

Oh, puhleeeeeese! John Bolton? He's one of the architects of the failed foreign policy that got us into Iraq in the first place. Within the last month Obama was in Portugal and Asia - hardly ignoring foreign policy.

When Hillary Clinton was asked about John Bolton's presidential ambitions, her reply was "hahahahaha." I think this accurately sums up Bolton's ridiculousness.

Right. Now John Bolton thinks he has a shot at the Presidency.

The Republican pool of Presidential candidates looks increasingly like a microcosm of an insane asylum.
