Sarah Palin says Wikileaks founder making things up

Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin is telling one of the world's most controversial figures: don't put words in my mouth.

On Tuesday, Palin tweeted: "Someone making things up again? Keep seeing this quote attributed to me. Huh?"

The former Alaska governor included a link to National Review Online posting.

That post is partly titled, "Julian Assange Notices Sarah Palin's Criticism." Assange is the editor-in-chief of Wikileaks. He's earned international scorn for recently posting over 250,000 U.S. State Department documents. On Tuesday, he handed himself over to police officials in London on unrelated sex charges and was denied bail after appearing in court.

But the National Review is referring to Assange's fresh op-ed, that currently appears in the newspaper The Australian, and that is what prompted Palin's tweet.

In the op-ed, Assange defends the publication of the secret documents. But he also writes, "Sarah Palin says I should be 'hunted down like Osama bin Laden."

It's that quote, being attributed to Palin, that apparently has her up in arms.

In a November 29 Facebook posting, Palin blasted the Obama administration's handling of the matter. And she also wrote, "Assange is not a 'journalist,' any more than the 'editor' of al Qaeda's new English-language magazine Inspire is a 'journalist.' He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?"

Though Palin clearly calls for pursuing Assange like al Qaeda leaders are being pursued, she did not exactly write that he should be "hunted down like Osama bin Laden."

As for the other part of Palin's tweet, "Keep seeing this quote," CNN checked to see if it's been reported other places and could not find any other citations of it.

  1. What?

Well, we've done such a swell job of "hunting down Bin Laden" these last 10 years, haven't we? If that's the case, I have no idea why the guy is worried...

if I didn't know any better, looks like the uk has been persuaded by ( we'll let you guess ) someone to put the collar on this guy, on some trumped up charges, in an effort to stop what is going to be very humbling to quite a few people..perhaps the main stream press by looking the other way on many issues could be culpable in this matter..or not..

Sarah, if you would shut your mouth for five minutes you wouldn't have to "tweet' so much. I must say you sound very illiterate when you post on facebook or tweet. So, again, just shut up!!! Oh, Assange is pretty much correct by way of inference.

It's not a quote, but it is a headline that ran many places a week or so ago. Has Palin really never said we should hunt down al Qaeda and Taliban leaders? How exactly does she think we're pursuing them in Afghanistan? So rather than hunting – she just meant pursue Assange with troops firing weapons, drones firing missiles, and planes dropping bombs – that kind of urgency – but let's be clear, it's not HUNTING. All this shows is that Assange has the same affinity for checking facts before opening his mouth as Palin does.

"Assange aggravates Palin." It seems to me that, lately, there's very little that doesn't aggravate Palin.

If Julian Assange really does irritate Sarah Palin, then that is at least one reason to like him. As for putting words in her mouth, at least if someone else put them in her mouth they'd be comprehensible.

My guess is that Sarah has now been anointed by
the Rockefellers and Billdibergs as the next US president.

  24. Former Republican, now an Independent

Come on CNN, we are sick of seeing this camera hound in the news. It's time to get back to covering people in the news who contribute something to society. Leave her personal life and opinions to her Fox Nuts channel.
