Gibbs: START Treaty will be ratified this year

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The Senate will ratify a new arms control treaty with Russia this year, staying in session however long it takes to get it done, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs insisted on Friday.

Gibbs made his prediction on the same day that Maine's two moderate Republican senators - Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins - declared their support for the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START. Previously, GOP Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana backed ratification of the treaty.

Gibbs does not remember that the GOP Baggers and right wingnuts do not care about keeping our nation secure. They do care about defeating President Obama in 2012.

What will the fascists at Fox say? That will determine how the republicans in congress vote.

It is vital to our national security, regardless of political affiliations, that START is ratified by the Senate ASAP. This is about our safety, not politics!

    Get it done.

When will these guys learn? There is NO better way to instigate GOP obstructionism than to claim that things will work out fine. NOTHING gives them more of a raging boehner than their opponent telegraphing "I'm hanging my hat on such-and-such." Bipartisanship? Change? Health Care Reform? Now the START Treaty? Pfah. Gibbs just rang the bell for a cage match and guaranteed increased temper tantrum national-security-demogoguery nonsense by saying it would happen. The LAST thing they will compromise on is whether they look like they argeed to and compromised on something that Obama said they'd agree to and they view anything that is broadcast as important to the Obama administration, the Dems or the country not as important for those reasons, but important because it's a piont where creating weakness and failuire is their version of victory. They want nothing more than to tear down, not build up.

Wired Palladin, being a drug addled democrat liberal, seems to have to call names, demean and degrade like a democrat liberal does. I guess I have to wonder why the START treaty has to be ratified by the end of the year, actually, I am old enough to remember, and was in Vienna at the time the first START treaty was negotiated and the sky did not fall at all while the thing was negotiated or ratified many years later. So what is the rush? What about this possible secret agreement on defensive systems? I would like to know to see if our security has been sold down the river by this administration in attempt to justify the unjustifiable Nobel Peace Prize the Eurotrash awarded him. I guess in the meantime, the leftists who hate this country so much can continue to demean and degrade their "enemies" it worked so well for them in fall of 2010.

"What will the fascists at Fox say? That will determine how the republicans in congress vote."

You shouldn't even bother to ask that here. CNN was too chickensh-t to report on the internal Faux Noise emails that were leaked, which clearly revealed just how purposefully skewed and biased their coverage of the health care reform debate was. For example, telling all reporters to use the term "government option" instead of the widely used "public option" because polls said the difference in terminology (not substance) produced a more negative reaction from the people polled (and the immediate change in the terminology used on Faux has been documented showing how they spoke about it before and after the email...within ONE DAY). No, CNN is, in fact, in bed with Faux News as are they all. They've done everything they can to play the GOP's game for the past 2 years. No giant corporation with quasi-celebrity bobbleheads making 7 figure salaries is ever truly going to supoprt a Dem POTUS or liberal agenda...ever. They have too much to gain by sipping the status quo slurpees and supporting corporatocrat GOPers.

Hopefully the TeaPers have been paying attention as to how things get done in Washington. Each side has their very own demands, and each side is vociferous in their lobbying. The left wanted their social issues, the right wanted their wealthy tax increases, and Obama wanted START ratification. The working class continue to allow themselves to be pawns, ever shifting from one side to the other. In the end, nothing has changed, but all parties will declare victory. That the TeaPers even remotely think they will be changing Washington *politics as usual* is laughable.

When Bush lied, thousands died, tens of thousands were wounded and the cost was over $1 trillion.
