Washington (CNN) - Wisconsin GOP Chairman Reince Priebus announced the support of three more Republican National Committee members Friday as he seeks to continue his early momentum in the race to chair the party organization.
Priebus informed the RNC's 168 members in an email that he has picked up three more backers: North Dakota Committewoman Sandy Boehler, Mississippi GOP Chairman Brad White and Mississippi Committeewoman Jeanne Luckey.
The endorsements bring the total number of RNC members publicly backing Priebus to 15 - the highest total for any of the six candidates in the race.
Priebus is considered the frontrunner in the race to replace Michael Steele as chairman. Also seeking the job are former Missouri Chairwoman Ann Wagner, Michigan committeeman Saul Anuzis, former Bush administration official Maria Cino and former RNC Political Director Gentry Collins.
UPDATE: Anuzis also announced a key endorsement Friday from Bill Crocker, the national committeeman from Texas.
Crocker joins Virginia committeeman Morton Blackwell in backing Anuzis; both are prominent conservative voices within the RNC.
Anuzis now has nine RNC members publicly committing to support him for chairman.
Priebus is a major embarrassment in Wisconsin, so he should be in charge. After all, he meets all the GOP requirements, being white.
Wire. How did Steele meet the requirements then?
