Key aide departs Palin world

(CNN) - Sarah Palin is losing a key member of her inner circle.

Lawyer Tom Van Flein is departing Palin's world to work for incoming Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, according to Gosar's office.  The Anchorage Daily News first reported the story Monday.

"I am pleased to have Tom Van Flein, with his experience and background, help me in D.C. with my District issues and the issues facing our country," said Gosar. "As one of my trusted advisers, I look forward to working with him in Washington and ensuring that we listen to the American people and work to uphold the principles that make this country great."

Van Flein is among only a handful of advisers with regular access to Palin, having served as both a legal, political, and media adviser to the former Alaska governor as she has navigated the political waters since her debut on the national stage in 2008. His is certain to leave a big hole in Palin's circle, especially as the former vice presidential nominee considers gearing up for a presidential election bid.

"Rep. Gosar is getting a wise, experienced and principled hand that will help him hit the ground running. Along with millions of Americans, I will be watching the new freshman class shake up D.C." Palin said in a statement.

Gosar was among the Republicans Palin endorsed ahead of the midterm elections.

"The mid-term elections represent a tectonic shift," said Van Flein. "I want to work with Rep. Gosar because he is committed to Arizona, and he is committed to making government more efficient, and our country more independent from its reliance on foreign energy and natural resources."

I can't understand why people keep talking about Sarah Palin. Has everyone forgotten something, she quit her Governor position for the state of Alaska. That means that she's not a public servant, she's just an ordinary citizen like the rest of america. But gullible people and the media keep wanting to make her a political figure. She's not in the least. And she has not 1 meaningful thing to ever say if it has anything to do with someone that could challenge her lack of thinking.

How anyone could actually follow her is beyond rational. Oh well, there's a sucka born every minute.

Hey CNN, how exactly does this translate into Palin "losing a key ally"? Don't you think the headline makes it sound a little like someone is abandoning Palin for some reason or another?

Rats leaving a sinking ship ? If this ding-aling woman opens her mouth on two many more subjects that she knows nothing about she will be the only one listening...sooner than she thinks. I am sick of seeing her phoney face and her ignorant statements.

Yawn....Why is this news? People in politics do this all the time. Gosar is in Congress now, Ms. Palin is not. Van Flein wanted to be in DC. Nothing shocking here.

Please stop insulting our intelligence by thinking any Palin news should rank as the headline for the Ticker! She is becoming increasingly irrelevant, and there is much more important news than anything Palin!!

Will the hole left in her circle be as big as the hole in her brain?
That would be a massive hole.

CNN just relishes every Sarah Palin failure, doesn't it? Doesn't get more "unbiased" than CNN.

PLEASE! Stop leading the ticker headline with something about this woman! There is so much more going on that is actually important rather than how many squares of 1 ply toilet paper she uses as opposed to how many she would use if it were 2 ply. The more attention she gets the longer she stays around!

You're extending this extremely stupid woman's 15 Minutes. Please stop and get some respect as a worthy news source.

Since CNN has one on their staff that takes calls from Sarah Palin to keep the media attention going, I find it odd that CNN actually thinks or doesn't care that Palin does not have what it takes to be President.

I sincerely hope that the phrase "rats leaving a sinking ship" is relevant here. No one needs to be sunk more than that airhead Palin. Talk about poluting the political atmosphere!
