(CNN) - An aide to Republican Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming confirmed Wednesday that a deal has been reached on "the basic structure" of a bill to provide free health care to first responders to the September 11 terrorist attack in New York.
I can't believe it took this long to pass the 9/11 bill. Meanwhile, the Repubs are trying to get out of DC, and seem to be unwilling to do their work for the American people. Senator "let them eat cake" Kyl is blathering on about how terrible it is that the lame duck congress is actually expected to work. Give me a freaking break.

It has been interesting to observe the growth of Jon Stewart's influence. Without him this 9/11 bill would have certainly died. It is one thing to be consistently effective as a satirist of Washington and quite another to be able to use that pulpit to move the targets of your humor on both sides of the aisle to do the right thing. That is clearly what happened here.

AWWWWW!!! Too bad.
It is GREAT news for the first responders to get their well-deserved health care. It is too bad that the RethugliKKKlans realized this "early" that their political credibility and careers would've swirled down the toilet if they kept fighting this bill.
Way to object to giving our heroes what they deserve RethugliKKKlans. You should've stuck to your guns and looked like even BIGGER FOOLS – as if that were possible!!

If you are poor, middle class, minority and live in America you should be very, very scared of all these right wing nut
cases that are taking over the house. Sarah Palin, Michelle Buchanan, Ronney, Hucklebee, just to name a few. When they talk about the Consitution do you know what they mean.? They are sticking to the idea that the Founding Fathers intends for the rich to be richer and the poor to be poorer. So It is appalling that these rich, dumb, racist knuckle heads have lied and con their way back into Power. I think President Obama should just give them back the job and take his nice, brilliiant and caring family back to peace and quiet. Let all you who cannot see the good in this man get what you deserve with these horrible people. The 3 stooges, Cantor, Mcconnell and the cry, cry baby speaker of the house will give you all you deserve in when they take over the house in January. Good luck to you all. I am moving to beautiful bless Canada. They have free Health care, honest fair Goverment and avery Multi-culteral environment where every one respects each other. They have freedom of speech but they use it with intelligint and grace. They refer to their Goverment with title and respect in all regards.
What happened to the hold that alleged Dr. Coburn put on the bill. Did someone remind him the the Hippocratic oath he supposedly took?
