No more smoke-filled rooms for Obama?

(CNN) - The president may have kicked his smoking habit once and for all. It has been about nine months since the president's last cigarette, according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Gibbs said he still chews Nicorette, but that the president used "stubborn willpower" to stop.

"It was a commitment that I think he made to himself at the end of the health care and with his two daughters in mind," Gibbs told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

Gibbs also said this is the longest period, in the almost eight years he's known the president that he's gone without smoking.

"It's really stuck," Gibbs said.

Bravo, Mr President. Now if people all around the world could follow your example it would certainly cut down on a lot of useless deaths and suffering.

Sorry but Nicorette has nicotine in it. He's doing good but won't really kick the habit until he's free of the gum as well.

If he's still chewing Nicorette it's not over. As long as there is nicotine in his system, he will not have kicked it. Take it from an ex-smoker of three packs a day – the only way to do it is cold turkey. You're a zombie for two weeks, but then it gets easier and before you know it that dangerous habit is gone. I wish some of the young people I see smoking would decide to quit. I have COPD as a remembrance of those years of searing my lungs and being around second hand smoke after quitting.

Please read the piece carefully – GIBBS is still chewing gum, our President gave it up with sheer willpower – no crutches for him! He is a remarkablel man!

But, CNN, please don't use misleading headlines!

Nicorette is just another method of getting your nicotine. People are just fooling themselves.
At least Nicorette doesn't burn and stink up the place!

The story that Gibbs gave last week was that he hadn't SEEN Obama smoke for several months. He beat around the bush as usual when a reporter asked if Obama had quit!
I see the spinmeisters have fine-tuned the answer...ha!

Congrats Mr. President. Best of Health to you and now also to your family. Now use some of that stubborn will power to complete the agenda you started two years ago. DON'T let the GOP hold you back. A Happy, and now Healthy New Year.

Good job so far there Mr President, on the not smoking. But nicotine in gum is still a problem. What about the junk food? Alcohol? It all detracts from good health and I find it interesting that you pushed so hard for a health plan. Real health comes from inside Mr President. Making sure that we have drugs and sugeries available to all will not make us healthier. It will make us sicker. Make sure that you eat the good stuff to flush the toxins you have put there over the years. Coconut oil, grass fed butter, real free range eggs, grass fed meats and leave the pizzas, pasta, candy bars and other processed foods alone. Leave them be. While you are at it release Bradley Manning and get us out of other countries. Good Luck.

Personal to janda: What do you mean Obamacare will take care of him? Your party is going to dismantle Obamacare. Then Obama will have to utilize the GOP proposed health care plan which they had the previous eight years to do and didn't. In other words, there is no health care plan from your side because they are just pimping for the doctors, insurance interests, pharmaceuticals and medical centers. And as long as a big thinker like you can be maneuvered, you'll get out and stump for whatever the GOP-funded pundits on TV and radio tell you to say. Nice job – not being able to think for yourself, and then you come on here like the typical keyboard commando you are and try to dazzle us with sarcasm – and have no solutions, just rhetoric.

Obamacare is not meant to treat people who are to blame for their own illnesses due to bad choices, rather, for those who need medical care for conditions out of their control. Use your noggin. Smoking kills, why would any smart, person willingly decided to smoke?! Ding-dong.
